This is a really great app to use while in the parks, however it has one big glaring issue. In just 1 day of usage, it used 10gb of data in the background, and blew through my cell phone data limit... If you have a budget cell phone plan, or a data limit on your plan, then you should stay away from this app. Especially if you care about privacy, as that data was most likely tracking data for every second I was in, or near, the parks. I can't rate it any higher for that reason alone!
I downloaded the app to play in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. It's a buggy battery eater. No matter how many times I tried to check the map to find the location of the next job, it only showed icons and no map. For someone who only has to charge their phone once every day and a half, it ate my battery in two hours. It made me hesitant to try any games in other parks. It fails to acknowledge park attendence achievements. It crashes and freezes often. What can I say? I just expect more from Disney.
There's a lot of love put into this app, but it falls short of being engaging enough to really make me want to play. There's only so much trivia I can do. I do like the new achievements! Although some of mine are missing for rides I went on. The art is really cute in this app, that's the saving grace. Definitely worth a try if you have 6-13yo kids that get bored in line, but probably not as enticing as TikTok.
Overall great app, love all the games and it really helps the time go by when standing in a long queue at Disney World. I have an issue with the Star Wars Datapad, though. I can do everything except scan or use visual input on translate. I could do each of these once, but after that it stopped working. I contacted a cast member at Disney World, and we tried to get it to work for a while, but we couldn't. I will give 5 stars when this works. I have high expectations!! 🙂
Fun and interactive app, BUT there was just a lot to take in, especially in a fast moving line, with impatient people behind us on Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. Plus, the kids were more excited to look around their environment, than have their noses in a phone. I would recommend this app for kids or adults who have to always be on an electronic or plugged in. I get that! This app would be perfect for them, as it would keep them busy and still engaged in the experience.
The other games are pretty great besides the art of animation. I didn't even make it past the instructions before it froze. (Right when it's telling you to scan the pictures). If it worked this would be higher rating. But other than that- its really fun and a time consumer if you need or want it to be.
Slow, buggy, only one "game" worked well. MagicBand+ was a waste of money. Barely worked for a couple golden statues, but didn't work for most. Waited until vibrated and turned white but just wouldn't recognize the shake. Bounty Hunters doesn't work well, and there's no "game" to it other than hot/cold. Most games don't work well, are slow, buggy, or not really games. The best game is for Space Mountain, but most of it is in the final queueing area so you're boarding soon.
cute and fun. I'm not at the parks but I like that there is plenty to do even away from them. but I can see them helping keeping people entertained waiting in long queues
This was really fun! I wish the Indiana game let you take photos of the glyphs instead of type them in. It took a long time to find the right characters. We ended up taking photos of them so we could keep going as the line moved on. A "import photo" would have been very useful for the Galaxy Edge equipment QR code scanner because often we were in a hurry and needed to "scan and go" or the codes were low to the ground and I couldn't scan them from my mobility "speeder" but a photo was possible.
I went to Disney, and thought this was the Disneyland app, but this app is really good! In lines like Peter Pan or Space mountain has lots of games, or quests as they call it. They make the lines feel faster than they are.
The standalone games kept our daughter busy in the queues, and the statue hunt with the magic band plus worked well, but that's as good as it gets. The various "achievements" for visiting attractions was hit and miss - some awarded without any action whilst others refused to recognise that we'd been there (same on iOS as well). The Ziplock challenge at Epcot was not up to date, with stands not being where the instructions said, with Morocco being closed stopping getting the final jigsaw piece.
It's perfect for families waiting in the line perfect for kids and perfect for any group of friends going to Disneyland!
App constantly crashes and I lose progress on live games while at Disney and have to keep walking back to restart.
Do not install this app if you pay for data! This app consumed 10G of data ($100) yesterday even though I was at home, connected to WiFi, and have not opened this app in months.
WARNING TO OTHER USERS. This app consumed a massive amount of mobile data in the background without any warning. I had no idea it was running or downloading content, and it ended up using multiple GB, causing very expensive charges on my phone bill. Especially unacceptable for an app made for kids. Deleted.
This app always runs in the background. Even if you force stop it and put it to sleep/deep sleep. While running in the background, without consent, it also continually tries to access your location, nearby devices, use cellular data, etc, even with all permissions disabled. It's a constant massively drain your battery while installed. This is malware behaviour. You would think Disney has the money to make a better app.
I used to love this app when activating features in Galaxy's Edge. Now I'm just angry that it somehow used 893GB of my data in the past month despite not using the app once and having the "Allow background data usage" turned off. This is either gross incompetence or nefarious. As a huge Disney fan, I've never been so pissed about a Disney product.
This app uses the most horrendous amount of background data I've ever seen. I downloaded it while I was at Disney and after over a month of not being there I was told that I hit my data cap, I went to check what was using so much data and over 1 month this app used 36 GB of data in the background without me opening it once. That's completely asinine, someone should be investigating what data this app is sending in such large amounts.
extremely slow and buggy, very few of the games actually work, very disappointing for kids!
I like using this app to play games at the parks, usually while in line. It's also fun for my nieces and nephews to play along and it keeps them entertained. I have also played a little bit at home to get some of the achievements. One of the trivia games that has NEVER worked for me is "The SOUL of Jazz". Please fix it, it never loads and I end up having to close and reopen the app. A game we have really enjoyed is the "DuckTales World Showcase Adventure" in Epcot!
