I changed my one star to 3. I finally got my US passport accepted after many attempts. This app did not accept California Driver's License Real ID. Also difficult to scan US Passport that was issued 2016. But, finally did work. No idea why. I did notice that there was a July 9 update popping up. Maybe that helped. Anyway, it is hard to hold a larger smartphone in one hand, the document in the other, trying to hit the record button and trying to find a spot where the passport doesn't appear glary
Not helpful at all. I've tried a dozen times to get it to recognize US passport (issued in 2021) holograms using different lighting, but it just doesn't work. It didn't work last year, and didn't work this year. Each time you retry, you have to start over from the beginning and do all of the steps again, even if previously the rest of your application was accepted. Back to paper and postal service. I'm uninstalling this useless app. A waste of storage space! So frustrating.
Had some problems. Needed to use the Chrome browser to activate the app. I used my driver's license front and back. Make sure the image stays within the outline provided, otherwise it rejects. Update: driver's license didn't work, so I tried again with the passport. So what is the back of the passport? Nothing. So I used the signature page as the "back image" and after more tries it was accepted and completed. Well, at least it finally worked, but have to say it needs to be more user friendly.
The app claims you can identify with a passport. When you click the identification button, it asks you to take pictures of front and back. That makes no sense. It is in fact asking you for your German ID. I got connected to an agent anyways. The agent was not able to help me. Utterly useless app for any non-German citizen.
went through the process. app said my browser(standard android chrome) is not compatible. Now every time I try again, it just tells me that the process is complete. the original website does not update.
"Which identification documents are accepted? Valid ID cards from the following countries can be used in the AutoID process: Netherlands" and still it keeps saying I don't have a valid ID. It hasn't expired. If something is wrong with the recordings or pictures, say so and don't give some vague error message. This is the worst UX ever
Tried it with German passport. App will say that you receive a mail, when they are done with the process. Didn't work on 3 Attempts and also gave me no information. I urgently need an eSim before Christmas to reach out to friends and family. POSTIDENT is hindering me!!
Useless and total waste of time... once the agent picks up, there is loading of their video and then the call gets terminated. Got also an error "the app keeps on stopping"... not to mention that I lost nearly an hour trying to make this work. In the window it says the waiting time is about 2 minutes but this is far from being true. So, now I have to go to the good old post like my grandma used to do!!!
Language selection is broken, defaulting to German. There is no recovery from connection problems, so if anything happens one has to start over. Allowing the app to be on top is mandatory and there is no Exit button in it, so when something goes wrong the only way to close it is to restart your phone as all other controls are hijacked by the app. Bottom line: save your time and just go to the nearest Deutche Post office -- this will be much faster and trouble-free than this junk.
Terrible. The camera seems to be locked to focus at a pretty big distance, the ID is unrecognizable from that distance and if I bring it closer it's so out of focus that you can't read it either. No apparent way to change the focus. Only way I got it to work is to switch to the front camera and show my ID to that. Let's hope this time DHL accepts the photos... Update: Downgrade to 1/5 because even the clear photos with the front camera were not accepted. We should be able to just send an email!
The procedure is not complicated. BUT the identification fails ridiculously many times. It always says that the quality is not sufficient. The picture is not even that blurry, I can still see my face, every alphabets, and numbers on my ID clearly. Do I have to use professional camera for it to be 'sufficient'? It's so frustrating. I think it's just checking the 'size' of the picture I uploaded. It's not even 30 seconds yet, but I already received the 'fail/insufficient' result.
It works well for anyone with a German ID card/passport but didn't work at all for taking a picture of a foreign passport, using Android (we tested 2 different phones), only the iPhone worked in the end. Also, as much as the actual video chat is available in English, one has to master the German text/form of the app first (so a non-german speaker can't use it without any help).
Absolutely awful app and customer experience. I must have tried to get to an English speaking agent at least 10 times. All of them say to call again as they cannot speak English. You need to vet your agents better. It seems a lot of them lied on their English ability. The app seems to crash a lot. The camera freezes. Whether I'm on Wifi or phone data, I seem to get disconnected often. There was even a time the agent could not hear me at all even though they can see me. Terrible.
The crappiest app ever. There are no instructions anywhere about which documents can be accepted (foreign EU ID are NOT! for instance) and which pages of the passport they want. Even if your phone can take good quality pictures, once converted by their system, it gets really crappy. The funniest part is that then they comlain the quality is not good! And as you can't upload documents, it is impossible to have what they want. I give up.
Terrible app! Only takes photos of German ID cards, no support for passports. After entering the data manually, it froze my phone when I tried to change the operator language - had to restart the phone. On a second try it worked after a few minutes, but no operator was available. Pressed the retry button and nothing happened, so I needed to go back. Now I have to do it all again.
Update: I have to correct myself. I had to use IDNow recently aswell. They got so bad, compared to that experience this App was a joy. -- Had to use a few video ident apps by now and this one is the worst. You have to take photos of your ID and then enter all the data anyway. Including the phone number at the end. And if you change to your contacts to copy your phone number everything is gone. You have to start all over entering all your data.
The App in Germany as well as the whole account is a big mistake. I can't pickup the package because the app is not giving me the 4 digit code. To pick up the card I needed to pick it up personally and they could give it to me only after confirming it with my ID now I have to go to the Deutsche Post to do exactly same thing WASTE OF TIME. It couldn't be worse. I do not recommend.
The code on the page cannot be scanned. The papers came late in the post. What now? It is outside of Germany. It cannot take the numbers either. Please sort this out. The post is very slow too. We are desperate to help an elderly lady. I received a response none of the options work even after some of the info was loaded and then you can't get into the website as it is down. It has cost €50 to post from another country to Deutschland because of the app not working. Unacceptable!!!!
The app is extremely slow (blank screens, eternal loading) and constantly gives "network connection errors" even though I am stably connected to the internet. When I finally managed to get to the point where I could take a picture of my ID card, it didn't recognize it, forcing me to go back to start. I didn't manage to identify myself because I wasted an hour on this app and never got to the point where they do the video identification because of this reason. Worthless app.
The connection was so horrible they it was trying a couple of times to reconnect interrupting my video identification. I have checked my Internet speed and packet loss and it was top notch. Tried to perform it over the GSM network, same experience. Not to mention that the personnel declined on a couple of occasions the video chat. Really bad experience, there is a good reason why the score is only 2.9/5.
