When it works, it does its job as it should. I use it to have my espresso machine turn on at 4AM every day so it's ready for my early morning shot. The problem is, when you have a power outage, either in the neighbourhood or if turn off the breaker when doing renovations, good luck getting it going again. Reprogramming the plug is a disaster. It also doesn't help that it doesn't work with 5G wifi. Sorta silly you have to downgrade your phone's performance to run an accessory device. Going in the in, buying a different brand, and will never use one of their products again.
Not Happy! I don't know what you did to your app. I have multiple smart plugs that I had all set up, all of a sudden this morning I went to the App and I had to click on agree to your new terms, put in my email and password and it said it wasn't recognized. So I had to re register which means having to manually add multiple plugs that were set with timers. So pissed. REALLY! this is not the first time this has happened. wouldn't even let me reset the password as my email wasn’t recognized. f f f
Absolute garbage app and products. The wifi range is abysmal and the cases are not sealed well and need to be kept sheltered at all times. The app has always been a problem to deal with but now it has lost the devices in my home, it still has the information about the home and shows me as the homeowner but if I try to add a device it says I'm a common member and I'm not allowed. So the account is bricked and I'm not sure if I can even add the products to a new home because they are taped up.
I bought the plugs for this app and was very excited to use it. However, it will not accept my validation codes and sometimes not even my cell phone number. Sometimes giving error codes in a different language. If I buy something that requires an app to use it i expect that app to be working properly. The fact that i cant even make an account is upsetting. I will now have to return the plugs i bought as well, huge waste of time and money. Developer... Do not put a product on the market if you cant even figure out how to unbug your app...
Took slightly longer than it should have to pair the smart plugs with the app and my network. But then again, they do say you need to be right next to your router when doing so. As well, "search for device" didn't work, I had to "add manually" and select the "outdoor" device which was the only option. Once past the initial setup oddity, switches work flawlessly and connecting with Google Home is a breeze. The automation settings are powerful and intuitive.
I've been using the app and Wi-Fi plugs inside as well as outside. They do work the way they are meant to. The only thing is when setting them up you need to be on the 2.4Ghz wifi, it would never work with my phone. But I do have an older iPad that only works on the 2.4 GHz side, so setting them up with that was a breeze. Otherwise you have to get into the settings on your router and turn off the 5 Ghz band while setting them up, then when your done setting the plugs up turn the 5 Ghz back on.
Could not connect. Disappointed. Bought last week as a 2-pack from Costco. Plugged one unit in and followed the instructions about the app and attempted to manually connect. Each attempt failed (at least 8 attempts, in both fast-flashing and slow-flashing modes). The plug was inside for set-up, very close to where the modem/router was plugged in and the router can automatically operate in both 5 and 2.4 GHz.
This product is Great !! Wish I bought another set !! The app was a bit of a pain. I installed it and couldn't get it to work. Reinstalled the app and used an extension cord to get the product and my phone 6" from my router. Bam it worked. To pair the blue light must be flashing and then when it pairs the flashing blue light will turn solid blue. Hoping that's the end of trouble with this product. So far works great tho. Remote on/off, countdown timer as well as a delayed on function.
I bought a two pack from Costco and the app suddenly changed the user interface and I had to create new schedules which is fine though annoying. I also find it irritating that it just suddenly decides not to come on randomly even though it's connected fine and the WiFi is fine. But suddenly one of them just went offline and no matter what I try I can't get it back online. I suspect it's the cold?
Useless devices. If you lose power after initial setup you can never re-sync and use the device again. Don't make the mistake I did by not reading reviews before purchasing. This issue is rampant and not 'just me not being able to figure it out'. I have contacted their customer service department who will pass you to "another department" which ALWAYS (tried more than once) goes to voicemail and they DO NOT RETURN CALLS. Garbage product. Literally!
Product from Costco defective. This came as a 3 pack from Costco. Scanned the qr code, and got an error message saying this code was scanned too many times this month, so no support was available. Eventually got 2 of the plugs connected, after a few tries. But, 3rd plug sparked when plugged in!! Would not turn on after that. Not the most reliable purchase.
It took awhile to set up the 1st one since the instruction is not clear. But after 1 set up, the rest is easy. However, there are 2 interface for programing the schedule. One last year interface limit the amount of schedules be added , for example if you want to it on 40 min, iff 20 min, then on 40 min, ... you cant do that for 14 hours cirle. This year app interface is a bit better, but still not quite user friendly. However, this morning the app suddenly does not show my schedules anymore
Purchased the Costco 3 pack and plan to return never to purchase again. This product was very difficult to pair and set up. It took a few attempts. Once the outlets were paired and set up I did manage to create a schedule. I was disappointed that the outlets did not shut off as was arranged by the schedule I set or at all ever. Overall the design is attractive and I like the idea plus it's priced really well but not user friendly and just doesn't work.
Very difficult to configure UI.. Once set up, the basic on/off functions work fine but things like unit settings are hidden away several menus deep. Locations "work" but are inaccurate and the UI doesnt update right away, leading you to think that it didnt work.. Weather report only seems to update once a day, making things like the "Smart scenes" and automation based on temperature and weather conditions kind of useless.. Also no indication on whether automation is actually working or not..
Had been working flawlessly for 9 months, had also signed in 3 weeks ago to change the timer. Signed in again just now and tried to change timer and keep getting "try again later". No apparent update needed, not sure what this unexplained glitch is. I am not willing right now to completely unlink the device and start over. Shouldn't have to after all. Will try later.
Purchased a 3 pack of pwr outlet devices from Costco. Setup went smoothly but I need to repeat the setup every few weeks otherwise no devices show up. That's a pain in the rear. Also, why on earth does this company need access to my precise GPS location and scan to find nearby networks? Seems they are just collecting this information to sell. Makes me think what other personal information this app rips from your phone. Look forward to a reply.
This app would not work to connect to the devices from my phone. Tried both the default connection method as well as the alternative. I also used the chat feature to try contact support. Support was helpful but unsuccessful. Replies were slow at between 2-7 days. I finally tried my tablet which was able to connect the devices right away. Now that they are configured they work well and can be controlled through the Google Home app.
everything was working fine, now I cant edit my timers for any of my devices, I press the timer button and it looks as though it's going to take me to the right screen but then it's the home page, I can not edit or add any timers. Edit: followed the instructions and everything worked fine for a bit, now one of my switches wont turn off. Still only getting a 2 star rating.
The app itself works fine. I do take exception to their concept that "closed" is off for the switch. NO, when a switch is closed, the power goes to the load, It has been that way since the beginning of electrical circuits. It is like they treat it like a water valve. BTW I am an electrical engineer.. There is also an unresolved issue with others in my family not being able to voice command this device via. google home devices. It is only associated to my account. So I can command the device on or off, my wife tries and it fails. Anyone else who google does not have a voice match for however has control... The device itself appears to be well built, and I have not observed any safety issues.
App works fine and was easy to set up once I used the correct WiFi password. My biggest complaint is that the FAQ doesn't rotate and I cannot read it so I can add family members. Cannot find the FAQ online either. My initial install was a single outdoor outlet and it worked pretty slick.I ran into some issues with trying to share devices to my wife's phone but Prime's customer support was very helpful. Based on my experience with the outdoor outlet and it's convenience I ordered two 3-packs of indoor outlets from Costco and ran into some problems. Back and forth with customer support and I had lift off once I plugged the outlet into an extension cord and held it about about 6 inches away from the router. Bingo! So if you cannot get your indoor outlets to pair use an extension cord and get within inches of the router!
