Princess IT sucks! On the ships, in the terminal and for the app. Always get an internal error message when trying to correct contact information and emergency contact information. Tried to do it on the ship first, then on the website and have always been told they did it and to give it time to update. Never does so then I tried to update it in the app. Still a no go, internal error. Having Medallions doesn't make up for poor design/support everywhere else!
Very user unfriendly despite having been created years ago. You only need to compare it with the apps of other cruise lines. I'm a Platinum member but I hate this app. Example: not able to purchase WiFi packages for companions. Not able to set the payment method for others in the family to use the same payment method (credit card), not able to see what packages you have purchased.
So glitchy and not user friendly. You can't select or unselect boxes that are clearly made to be checked/unchecked. When searching for shore excursions, every time you select one to get more details, you have to start restart the search. There's no way to just go back to the original search results. The layout isn't intuitive. You have to search for information that should be easily accessible, like booking details, onboard credits, etc.
This is the worst app I have ever encountered. You are asked to enter all of your pre-boarding info; contact info, emergency contacts, photo, passport, etc. You enter your contact info, and go to the emergency, and hit "complete" and find everything you've put in is gone. After a few dozen attempts I call, and was told to try again later. Well five days later, and 100 attempts, still no go. Then you try to make dining rsvp's and it says all is booked. Excursions are impossible. Horrible.
It is no longer as good as it used to be. Ordered delivery through Ocean Now. Item never appeared. No menus could be viewed. Could not reserve any dining time for any dining room through the app. The crew chat did work, as did "find your shipmate". The non functioning parts of the app were a big distraction from an otherwise great experience.
We can't login on our app. We were able to do everything we needed a week ago, see how many days to our cruise, book excursions, fill out all of our paperwork, etc.. All of a sudden, the app won't recognize our login. I went to the website and the login went smoothly. I even uninstalled and reinstalled it and it still doesn't recognize our login. This app will be necessary for our cruise. Please fix it!
When swapping devices sometimes it looses your shipmates and can't add them back - it's a hit and miss issue. The app is missing two important items: a cruise itinerary and a list of booked shore excursions. The shorex list could be a problem if the Ocean DB behind the app does not connect to the Tours DB, but the itinerary should be easy enough to add. It is available in the onboard systems. I love the "locate" feature. It works great.
This app is.. not fantastic. Doesn't work half the time before the cruise. Error messages are confusing. On the cruise, it's OK, but still gives errors.. bookmarking events works like.. half the time. .. and you can send messages to your party on the cruise but... Why don't you have notifications??? That seems like an obvious thing to have.. otherwise you need to check the app all of the time to see if you got a new message. Ugh. Do better.
This app struggles with even the most basic user experiences. You can see the schedule but can't bookmark events without errors. You can use it to chat with your party and others on the cruise w/o cell service or paying for Internet -- but there are no push / other notifications so you have to constantly monitor the app to see if there are any messages. You have to constantly use it to reconnect to the paid Internet service. Slow. Buggy. Disappointing. Especially on vacation.
Some features are nice, but the directions feature avoids elevators sometimes, and the wifi is just not good on the ship. I had to log in about 4 times for a 7 day cruise, which was also annoying. App refuses to show photos while in port, also annoying. Folio has no breakdown for on ship purchases. Overall, it's just a mediocre to a terrible app. I would prefer not to use it at all if there was any good alternative, but that's just not the case.
It works...sometimes. "Something went wrong. Please try again later" is common. It's useful for stuff that isn't important, like finding out who's performing at Crooner's Bar tonight. It's less useful for important things, like setting dining reservations or adding a credit card to your account because...please try again later. Princess needs to add all of the functionality of this app back to their Website, especially for pre-cruise setup and documentation.
I downloaded the app and it would not recognize my booking # saying "Error: server issue". Now it says that the booking has been added, but the screen to add the cruise says there are no journeys added yet. Clearly there are more bugs to work out. Not confident about the new app. My husband and I have been on one cruise before with Princess and the app was pretty good (not perfect), but way better than this. At least the app worked before.
This app has all of the pieces to be awesome, except most of them don't work half of the time. Orders marked delivered that never show up or show up incorrect, links that don't work or go somewhere else, freezing up, reservations being shown as available but then getting an error code that there is no availability when trying to book. if it weren't for conveniently having the ship's schedule accessible I would have deleted it. It would be phenomenal if it actually worked.
Terrible app. Completed all my check-in requirements and showed I was green line. The website now shows my check-in is incomplete. Now, the app does not connect to my booking number. You can't complete your check-in online. You have to do it through the app. Also tried to place some package orders through the app and kept getting kicked out. Hope the cruise experience is better than the app.
I would give it a negative star if possible. Horrible functionality. First of all, I can't log into the app with my Princess account - that works perfectly fine on the website. I was able to finally login using my booking number. I'm supposed to follow pre-boarding checklist and update data. But, I can't do half of the required stuff because it keeps redirecting me to log in when I'm already logged into the app. Too many redirects from app to website & each time, a login is required.
Google needs to add the ability to give apps zero stars, or maybe even a negative rating. This app is so bad that it deserves exactly that. Your location on the ship doesn't update for 10 to 20 minutes. That means that if you are trying to find shipmates you have added in the app, they could be on the complete opposite end of the ship by the time you get to where they were supposed to be. Not only that, but your location doesn't update either. Just one of MANY total failure points.
Either their system is really bad or they try to sneak in extra fees when you try to get on a wait-list. I kept being told one thing and then charged another, hung up on more than once trying to fix the issue, it wasn't fixed when they said it was fixed. call again and repeat. Finally it is fixed "I hope" but that was too much of an ordeal. I'd rather a company that shoots straight and keeps it simple. But at least it's all resolved and this is the only place I have to bother one staring.
I take four cruises with princess every year. and every cruise since the launch of this app we have had nothing but trouble. need to check in? error try again. need to order medallions? error try again. need to book dining reservations? error try again. need to save payment method for you and your party? error try again. and the issues never resolved. no matter how many times I log in and log out, uninstall and reinstall. Horrible app that hasn't gotten better for years.
Why can't they get just (one) app for everything required to sail. Plain simple instructions, information needed, plan options, and details of what you get with prices. Options for dining and differences. Easy dinning booking for adding separate parties to your table. What is allowed to bring on board and what's not. Everything in one place easily accessible under your booking by calendar date. Where at a glance you can see everything you have booked under your booking. Would be nice.
There are a lot of great things about this app. The ability to track your "shipmates" is by far the best feature, but the ship WiFi makes it take a long time to load, sometimes even with the app failing to load completely. You really need to store more local data so the ship map at least loads instantly. There needs to be a shortcut to shipmates on the home screen, instead of finding it in profile settings or the map, then hitting shipmates, then hitting the drawer, then picking a person.
