I've had this app for over a year and always loved it. I use it daily and pay monthly for pro. But I've recently started having a problem. The app data has always remained under 400mb. But yesterday it suddenly went to 1gb. It continues to grow a couple hundred mbs every time I do even a little bit of writing. I've cleared the history records, but it barely takes it down any room at all. At this rate, it's unsustainable for my phone to have that much room. Can you please help me with this?
The app has changed a lot since I used it a couple months ago, whether it's for the best or the worse I won't say. I love this app, I truly do, so much in fact that I will continue to use it. However, it definitely needs some work done in order to be friendly towards all types of writers. I sometimes write on my phone but I also sometimes prefer to write on a desktop. And when writing on a desktop I'd prefer the app to stay the same when switching from mobile to desktop.
I usually don't write reviews, I had this app for a few years and I love it. But there are a few things that should be added, like easy ways to change the text and added features to the desktop app. But there is also an issue with the google back up, and the desktop app not working right. Otherwise it is a fabulous app that I can keep all my works together.
I've used this app for a couple of years and I love it! Very simple to use and extremely dependable to keep your writing. I am a bit bummed about the more recent updates though. I know Pro is very important to the creator since they don't have intrusive ads for money (thank you for that!!), but I feel like the options for what the + button leads to should have remained the same or at least be a free feature. Peronally, I won't use TTS or read aloud so it's much less convenient than before.
I've had this app since around 2021 or so. For all that time--up until the day of this post--I had been a free user. The app is exactly what I was looking for: an alternative and reliable way to write on the go, with an at-home computer option if I wanted. It's smooth, intuitive, and has extra features that are definitely a bonus that I didn't realize I'd enjoy until I had it as an option. I never felt like I needed any of the Pro features, but decided to upgrade as a treat. 謝謝!
Great app. No adds, nice backgrounds, and fonts are nice. Downsides include: I have reason to believe there may be a limit on how many words can be on one file; some of the backgrounds make it hard to read the words you type, and the font does not compensate (such as having a dark outline to white letters or vice versa); and the app can only be installed in internal storage (as a consumer with a phone that suffers from limited internal storage space, this was eventually a deal breaker).
For years, I solely used OneNote. It was my go to for productivity, fast and efficient, never lost any data. Then I got an Android and discovered the OneNote app sucks. Luckily, I stumbled upon this awesome app. Typing was fast and smooth. Features, endless. So many options. A lifetime subscription of the Pro version was coincidentally on sale. I'm very pleased with my purchase. Ty!
Amazing app. I'm writing a book so I downloaded this app to help me. I bought the pro version happy with the free version. And when I bought a new phone, the app and all the content switched over to my new phone. And I never lost a single word. I am truly amazed with this app. A must have. You can write as many books as you want. And have the organization you need to reduce the headache. The best way to go paperless. Try it yourself. Let's see what you think. Plus no crazy annoying adds.
I write short stories on the free version and have had it for a while. It works well, and doesn't push ads or anything and that is why I give it 4 stars. The thing it really could use is the ability to use bold and italic text. Then it would be perfect. Also allowing switching pages swiping left and right should both be free. Not just one way.
This is an exceptional writing app. It's simple, incredibly smooth and has a cool way of sorting and organizing your work. If you find yourself using it a lot, or use it for more professional means, the Pro version is worth the money. The updates are good and while the desktop sync version is wonky, it IS in beta and is not the main selling point of this app. I've used the free version for months now, and it works just fine.
If you're just looking for a plain text writer it works pretty well. However, I'm rating it only 3 stars since the markdown feature (like bold text, italics, etc.) is completely useless without paying money. What's the point of even making it an option if you can't see what it looks like? Better off using google docs or something if you're looking for that.
As an aspiring author I often struggled finding an application that fit all of my needs, which I didn't feel were very high demands. One issue i often found with other applications was that around the 3000 word mark the files lagged terribly. Pure Writer has been the answer to that among many other problems I didn't even know I had! I have files ranging from 500 to 20000 words and they all run at the same, smooth speed. Not only that but the formatting tool helps me easily transfer them to my Wordpress application to be published, another standard that I found was missed by many other applications. Without a doubt, Pure Writer is and always will be my favorite writing application! If I could give this six stars I would, I cannot express how much of a game changer this has been for me!
I absolutely adore this app! As a writer it's not easy to find an app with the same ease of use, a smooth GUI and all the other great features—in fact, I've decided I'm going to buy the premium version, support a great app I DID! but I bought 2 phones, same model, yet I can't sync the app between them. I was able to sync it on my 2 old phones so I know it's possible, I simply for the life of me cannot remember how I did it. Solve this for me and you made 2 sales! Tee~
Can't believe it took me so long to write a review. I've had this app for a couple years now and it's by far my most favorite! Simple enough to not be distracting with enough features to not be sparse. I use this for poetry and creative writing and it's the first program that I keep coming back to to actually complete projects. edit/ my only complaint is that my phone and tablet keyboard covers the apps 'keyboard' so it's very difficult to actually use italics, bolds, etc.
I have used Pure Writer for years and it has always been there for me. The design is simple yet customizable, and all parts of my writing process are easier to accomplish with this app. My only issue, though, is that recently I cannot write consistently on here because the rate at which my text is shown after typing will slow down until I see nothing, despite me continuing to type. For periods after this, I am then unable to even enter the app, which makes me concerned for my past writings.
I noticed that there is a lot of lag when typing if the chaper has over 5,000 - 6,000 words, but when starting a new chaper it is fine. Almost everything I write is over 6,000 words though, so it lags, the cursor skips, and the words end up all mixed up. Maybe it's just a bug that could be worked out in the next update? Other than that I have no issues with the app. EDT. You can now write more without issues along as you don't care about paragraph spacing.
This app is great, allowing me to type on the go. Only real issue that I have noticed is that when a file gets too big (starting around 7k to 9k and becoming more pronounced when hitting anything over 12k) is that the autosave begins to fail due to the size, which causes lag and stuttering as you're typing, occasionally erasing a whole phrase or jumping to a completely different area of the text. Only reason why I gave it 4 stars out of 5.
I give this app 5 stars for a few reasons. First, has no ads if anyone is wondering. Second, it's not laggy ( in my experience ). The only thing that bothers me is the premium, I don't know a single person who would pay for a writing app... Especially for the free mode, it does most what a normal writing app should do at least. It doesn't get extremely laggy when you have loads of folders and chapters, at least for me. ( If it does for you, you just have a bad device, sorry. )
Final Edit: Alright, I thought about my review throughout the day. And I decided to lower it from 4 stars to 3 stars. The reason? The app doesn't communicate with the user on what you can/can't do, there's no indication on what's a premium feature or not until you click on it. What's even worse is that this app has 2 necessary features that are locked behind a subscription paywall (or $24 for a lifetime licence). The find and replace tool and exporting your book- those are basic necessities.
I've tried/used a lot of writing apps over the years, but Pure Writer has really knocked my socks off within minutes of downloading. It's easy to use right off the bat and saves automatically. Not full of unnecessary bells and whistles, just a simple writing platform with plenty of space. I liked it so much, I purchased the pro version. There's even an indent button. How cool is that? I actually look forward to writing anywhere.
