You can't highlight reading on your phone. The voice reader only works on a computer or tablet. The phone sounds like a girl on helium and becomes very irritating to listen to. When doing smartbook assignments it never takes you to the paragraph that you need for that question. It only takes you to the section, not the paragraph. With the search feature, when you select a line, it doesn't go to that line it goes to the section. This makes it harder with my disability.

The search function doesn't work anymore. The audio playback can be so buggy too. I need it to work. It's great when it does! I agree the voice can be greatly improved. I wish I had more control of exactly where in the audio I was, maybe a highlighted text option that follows it so I never lose my spot and can quickly change. It's not as smooth as it could be.

I can't read with this app. As you approach the end of one chapter, it suddenly jumps to the next, causing you to have to search for your last spot. Likewise, when you highlight something it moves the highlighted text to the center of the page, causing you to have to find your place again. I use a web browser and avoid the app altogether. I do wish it worked.

It wont read to me anymore. I have un installed and re installed and it didnt fix it. To listen to it I have to go to the website and that voice is awful. It also doesnt let you pick up where you left off. It just keeps starting you back at the beginning of the section. Also if you touch the screen while it is reading it stops so you cant follow along with it. Lots of problems for a textbook I purchased. It wont let me share the book to another app to read it to me. Just an awful experience.

seriously fix the assisted reader. love that I was able to just rent my textbook on my phone. I love that you offer assisted reader on the app. However, I have notes for you. While I am able to read well, I have partial blindness in one of my eyes. For this reason, I like to use assisted readers. The one on this app doesn't keep my place well and repeats sections already read when picked back up. When I try to fix it, it sometimes refuses to go to the right spot and sometimes crashes.

It's a buggy mess. It never saves your username or password and even if it did the screen orientation changes to where you can't see the while bottom half where the prompt would be. While you're using it you'll get notifications saying "app keeps crashing", today for some reason the read aloud function no longer works and if it does it'll be severely delayed and while other apps are playing.

Every time I log on it says it can't load/find/whatever my highlights and asks if I want to delete them. Why would I want to delete them? They work online so just don't load them on the app if it won't work. I can deal with that. I always click cancel and it's worked fine until today when I logged in on my laptop online and 5 chapters worth of highlights are gone. Awesome. Super helpful /s

This app is complete garbage. The read out loud feature is TERRIBLE and doesn't work half the time. when you do get it to work, it'll stop at the end of the page and just stop reading. there is no highlighting of the word it's speaking, you can't dictate where to start or stop. it'll constantly start at the very beginning of the page every time. If I could give this app 0 stars it would absolutely deserve it. There is literally no aspect of this app that I could give it credit for.

Worked great, until it didn't. Can't proceed beyond the "start reading" button. This suddenly happened on two separate devices. Chat support was absolutely useless, an experience defined by disconnected chats and answers such as "we're able to access the book on our end," and "let us know how things work out."

Only slightly better than not having a reading app at all. There is no option for different voices. The speed options are laughable. Every time you touch the screen anywhere other than on the controls, they dissappear. It seemingly only scrolls when it feels like it.. and it does not highlight the text as you go. Plus, it randomly stops for no reason. Do not see a way to highlight anything. Samsung GS24. Trying to figure out how to get my book into Speechify.

**updated review - they are aware of the issues and working on them. Its great for what it is if I can scroll and click. The reading interface sucks for mobile. I cant scroll down at all without it skipping to the next section no matter the multiple ways i try. I need to be able to scroll and read, especially on mobile, when the amount of text displayed is already limited. Literally just cant read a part i need to.

I learn best through audio, and their audio player never works for me. I've had other textbooks that are able to play the book while highlighting the text and this one isn't able to do either. I'm also not able to copy and paste it into a better audio player because it doesn't allow you to copy the text. It also doesn't offer the option of a dark screen mode while reading.

The read aloud feature is ridiculously aweful. It keeps pausing because it can't transition paragraphs correctly, and if you accidentally scroll at all, it stops. No excuse for such a large publisher to have such a joke of a product. I can have my free course materials read perfectly, but after spending $$$ I am locked into this inferior platform.

The app is usable, but it acts haunted. I had the app open with the audio paused while I went to get mail, and I came back in the house to hear it playing all by itself. My phone was locked, but it still decided to start playing while I was gone. Sometimes, the audio stops all on its own, and you have to press the play button to make it start reading again. It's a very odd app, but I can still read without audio so far without issues.

It reads but only the normal is fine. Slow is super slow and fast is way too fast. Search works okay, and Navigation isn't that great because you can click on something which jumps you to some other page. You can't jump back easily. When it reads, you can't even scroll further forward or back, you're stuck where it's at or it stops reading. Trying to highlight stuff so you can copy to take notes doesn't work. I'm not sure how it does anything with note cards.

I can view my textbook, but the app lack basic features that the computer book/ program does have, such as the ability to highlight in the book. The app randomly force closes and if I scroll too fast (which isn't very fast at all) within the chapter it loads other random sections of the book. It does not remember where I left off so I have to manually find the section again.

Terrible app. I'm actually returning my digital textbook and getting a printed copy because this app is so bad. It switches pages when I don't want it to. It takes me back to the beginning of the book if my phone goes to sleep. The font and screen color is hard on the eyes. There are plenty of good apps to read with that MH could take notes from...scribd and Google play books are 2 that I use regularly and love. Paying $70 for a digital book that's impossible to read is ridiculous.

Used to work really well, assignments would sync and import in a few seconds but right now nothing is working. I have no access to my books anymore. The first time I pull up a chapter, I can read and answer question fine, but the second time I'm locked out. It just pulls up the "importing assignment data" screen and stays there. The loading bar frozen halfway there. I wait a few minutes, nothing. If I can only access chapters once before I close out, this app becomes useless.

When the app works, it is easy to navigate. However, the app frequently crashes and refuses to open the sections you need until you uninstall and then reinstall it which is incredibly frustrating. I don't always have access to a computer so being able to use mobile apps to read and do assignments is great when I have a few minutes but this is honestly just becoming such a hassle.

It logs me out after a period of time, doesn't allow for automatic entry of credentials, so I have to manually type them in, without leaving the app to check if they are right because... IT RESETS THEM and I have to start all over again. Nearly unusable. Once I'm logged in, it relatively stable... Though as others have said, the ”audiobook” is really janky, it only plays a portion of the chapter, you have to manually make it go to the next...
