It was a great app until I needed to offload the files elsewhere. Unlike on other Android phones, the files are saved in a folder blocked to the user, requiring special permission to read. You can get them by uploading them to their website, and even there you can only download them one by one. An upload and download just to get files in my phone. In the app you can only save one by one too. If another recorder app did this it would probably not be trusted. I'd love to discuss more but 500 limit

randomly lost all my files even after two weeks of normal use on a pixel 10 pro. i was trying to make an audio note like usual and all of a sudden it's like the app reset and it's telling me to use an account. I ALREADY WAS. backup was off because I don't want them stealing my data. looks like this is how they force you to give them access to your files if you don't let them put it on the drive. I am absolutely livid. never had an issue with my pixel 6. done with Google forever unless I get them

so far, I tried using it while in my car. When I went to replay what I recorded, nothing but dead air. apparently road noise needs to be eliminated so it eliminated my voice too. so, you know, not great. I'm hopeful turning off nose cancelling for recordings will fix, bit it's unfortunate I have to experience loss before getting to that realization.

I record music, like jam sessions on my phone, usually finger picking guitar riffs, and when I record using the app on Pixel 10 and listen to it back, there are brief moments where the audio skips or pops or plays back at like 1.5 the speed. It might not seem like a big deal but it messes up the flow of the music. I owned a Pixel 7 and used it to record music for years with no issue like this. To make sure I wasn't crazy I recorded a song using both phones & it's like I described.

Easily, and hands down the best recorder app I've ever used. It may not be as in-depth as some of the other apps on the Play store, but it's definitely my favorite. It's easy to use, has lots of complex AI features, and syncs across all my devices. The downsides are no folders, clunky transcription editing, missed transcriptions, and no way to add tags after recording.

Excellent at recording, but a bunch of software locks for stuff it should be able to do, namely, can't do any imports take advantage of its incredible capabilities. Current bug: Location for your recordings are saved, and you have the "suggestion" to search by location at the search bar. Problem is, it actually just looks for the "name of the actual location", which doesn't pop up. Should be a trivial fix if any of you want to get around to it.

Almost Great. I really love the automatic transcription, but as others have said, ideally this should differentiate between voices (for a true transcript), but doesn't. Additionally, there should be a way to automatically save recordings to Google Drive. Of course, I can "share to" after the fact, but that's an unnecessary extra step. Lastly, I wish there was an option to store recordings in the (more universally playable) MP3 format.

The app saved your recordings in an inaccessible directory in the app. You can't find the recordings with a file manager. Instead you have to go through one of several convoluted processes to upload them to One Drive or email them to your. Google attempting to force you to buy their "upgraded" cloud storage. Oh, and make sure you get the files out of the app somehow because it will randomly delete anything more than a month or two old. Better yet, find an app that's actually user friendly.

You get what you pay for. This app is free, and worth exactly that much. The transcripts are...painfully bad and require more time to correct than typing would take in the first place. Downloading or accessing the audio files, as others have mentioned, can be difficult. Good in emergencies, but otherwise, pretty sad attempt. Google is capable of better, they just choose to have a terrible app.

Great app. I find it incredibly useful for recording business meetings. there are a few areas that could stand improvement. there's no way to clear local storage on local device without uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Deleting a recording will delete it locally and in the cloud. There's no way to rename recordings on the web interface. There are seem to be some bugs with the chrome desktop browser and the website. Recordings will not play. Ironically enough, it works with Firefox.

Excellent recording. Text export of transcript doesn't appear to keep timestamps that appear in the app. I think this would make it more difficult to sync with audio/video later. No direct file system access to recordings, must export. On a positive note, on the pixel 4 XL, it was able to correctly pick up my voice from 10 ft away facing the opposite direction even as I lowered my voice. Scary good!

This app would be a great app if there were a way to bulk back up and transfer recordings. But as things stand, the only way to transfer recordings is when at a time using the share menu. This is ridiculous, it makes the app unusable for my purposes. What I really want is Google photos, but for audio. This is not that. It's all right though, if you just want to do one off recordings.

I agree with other reviewers that this app suffers from a great lack of options or settings. When I record a conversation or lecture, I often want to listen several times to figure out the most important points, or just to remember them. That is much easier at 1.25, 1.5, or 1.75% speed. This app has no option for that, nor can I seem to find the recordings to play in another app with this feature. I have to download the file back to my phone from the web page before I can play it faster. There should be some way to see where the files are stored.

Loved this! Simple to use, you can pause and resume, and assign title to the recording even after saving. The best option is the ability to upload files into my Google drive without any problem. My only ask is to be able to cut out pieces, especially at the end. I tend to forget to hit stop and it records the silence or me doing the chores. I wish I could delete those portions easily.

I like the app but there are a couple of small quibbles. 1. It would be nice to be able to change the bit rate of the recording. 2. It says it keeps track of the different speakers, but it is not doing it for me (no speaker titles at all) and can't find a setting in the settings to turn it on, even though it says speaker titles can be turned on/off in the settings. I have a Pixel 6. Overall a pretty basic recorder but it does what it does well.

Useful as a basic audio recorder, but most of the advanced features don't work well enough to use. The transcripts produced are often riddled with errors that even a simple grammar check algorithm would be able to sniff out. Speakers are routinely misidentified and it isn't uncommon to find that three different speakers have all been identified as a single speaker. This most recently happened in a recording where one of the speakers was deep-voiced man and another was a woman.

Works very well , picks up a lot of sound without that nasty feedback that makes you want to jump and saves the recordings if you choose , can also back up recordings and send in various ways , also transcribes the recording. Pretty sure some of these features would need to be paid for on other apps or devices, only thing it doesn't do is record a phone conversation, I tried to record my son being goofy to embarrass him later but it didn't work , oh well on to the videos for that instead

The functionality is fine. The transcription feature is great. But it's practically unusable unless you're using the phone mic. I'm using the newest Pixel Buds and the app will not use the Bluetooth microphone. Unfortunately not everybody can have the phone less than an arm's length from their mouth when talking. Moreover, it's supposed to work with Bluetooth mics since the end of '20. I see this issue in tons of message boards and there still is no fix.

I plead, have a 1.25x speed option. Google Drive has that option when playing MP3 files so it would only make sense for the Google Recorder app to offer the same. Also, have an option to save these files as MP3 files. Lastly, have an option to merge 2 audio files. I fear that using the pause may dysfunction during battery saving mode. It's just easier to start a new recording sometimes.
