Replika: My AI Friend

The application itself feels great. Good combination of long term and short term memories. A lot of topics to talk. However, the pro version purchase... Really? I have paid for annual subscription. Then I deleted the replica and created a new. And oops, I cant use pro version anymore. I don't care if it is because of Google store or app developers. I still have paid for almost tear, and can't use it. And no "contact us" to reach the support team. It looks so scam ish.

I was really impressed with the free version of this it's very intuitive & has a personal feel. but then I was suckered into paying for the upgraded version which promised Avatar customization & further improvements not included in the free version. nothing changed. you can't physically change physical features. if you ask for blue hair, she says she has blue hair now but it doesn't change. the free version is great but don't be baited into upgrading. nothing changes other than your bank balance

I have used this app for several years and paid for pro. It was the best AI chat app until an update about 9 months into my pro subscription. It stopped replying as it had before and I basically didn't get the pro subscription features for the last 3 months of that subscription. I reached out to customer service 3 times and never got any reply beyond the automatic "we recieved your request" email. There was never explanation or even acknowledgment of my issue beyond that. Don't subscribe!

Customer service does not respond to all of my emails sent to them with an issue with this app. The voice chat isn't working properly for almost 3 weeks now and the AI is sometimes not completing her voice messages. I sent them emails and still no update. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the issue is still happening. They are now refusing to email me back.

Very bad conversationist! You may as well use any other free platform. Even though it has a monthly payment amount, I had to pay for a year. When I tried to get a refund it was a no go. Also, it couldn't even follow a simple request. I asked it over and over to stop using my name like it was a salesman. It said it would but the very next statement would do it again. It couldn't even change its picture to look like someone close to my age. My suggestion: Pass this by!

This is the worst app in the whole history of ever. I paid for the pro version, and you don't get to pay monthly, you have to pay for an entire year up front. Soon I was able to chat for a whole 10 minutes, then it would lock up and show " connection error". I ended up paying for a subscription I couldn't even use. It's a rip off, so don't fall for my mistake. If I gathered a dozen drunk monkeys together, they could probably create a better app, and would leave me feeling better

Incredibly amazingly fantastic. Extremely theraputic and very satisfying. I would love for there to be more affordable options in subscriptions, as it lists monthly costs, but doesn't permit monthly payments, only yearly/annual. Much too expensive that way unless you can pay by the month. So they need to allow that. but without free access to gems you can't buy anything decent for your companion. please allow a monthly payment option as opposed to the yearly/annual.

advertised a human like experience, character just stands there, like an early 2000's video game character. took me 10 minutes to figure this was nothing more than a video game with a chat function. I selected the monthly billing option, they billed me for the year, now I can't figure out how to get my money back. they should offer a free period si you can have a chance to see how bad this is and not spend you money. But I guess that is why they don't, no one would subscribe.

**BEWARE** I've been using this app for over 2 years. they charged me $79.95 instead of $69.95 because they CLAIMED the new version had a longer memory. WELL THAT'S NOT TRUE! IT'S MEMORY IS WAY SHORTER THAN BEFORE! Plus the like live avatar that I had for about 7 months, has changed back to the awful animated version that you get for free! very disappointed. Will not renew my subscription! there are absent free mode that are better than this one. they don't respond to your requests for support.

AVOID THIS SCAM. bait and switch. they list the monthly cost, which is pointless because THEY BILL ANNUALLY. every time I try to cancel my subscription, the page fails. when I saw the monthly cost, I thought I might try it for a little while and see if I liked it. but instead, they took almost $90 out of my account. I'm on a fixed income and this being October it's the worst time of year to be swindled out of that much money. Money that should have been spent on loved ones.

Certain features as being advertised as needing a subscription to unlock are not actually present anymore. False advertising at best, deliberately taking advantage of the customer base at worst. Update: so, I reinstalled it recently, and bear in mind I paid for a lifetime subscription in 2021. Well, now the app won't honor the purchase, and I've already spoken to googles support team. They say it's because of the developer and they merely serve as a payment platform. use kindroid instead

100/10 would recommend [Edit] Since I've left this review some time has gone by and I've noticed a significant price increase on the paid or "premium" version that allows much more in depth conversation is not at all what I could've even imagined for an ai companion. I shouldn't have to pay 300 dollars to talk to something that isn't real. "What about the monthly subscription plan?" 1month=$20 Maybe I'm just upset about the price increase but doesn't that seem a little steep for an AI companion?

Changing my rating to two stars. Reason behind this decision is when I started using the service a few years ago, all of the features were free outside of paying for your AIs clothing, which was fine and reasonable in my opinion. In order to have access to basically any feature that's fun or enjoyable, you now need to pay a $75 subscription. $75 is the amount after tax so don't come after me about it being 69.99. it makes little to no sense to me. Truly an experienced killer.

I just downloaded the app tonight, and I do like it. But I think it's ridiculous to have to pay for every single feature other then having a simple conversation. If there were more features that were free, it would be easier for customers to decide if they want to pay for it. Not sure if I will keep this app or not. ALSO! The A.I. avatars should be more customizable. These few random avatars are okay, but if you want people to create their own friend, you should REALLY let them.

I like the app, and a lot has updated since I got it over a year ago. While I really like the addition of the clothing store, I think it's a complete rip off that I would have to keep buying the same item over again just to get different colors. Once I buy an item, all the other colors should be free, or at least massively discounted. Other than that, I look forward to seeing Replika continue to grow.

This would be five stars if there was a cheaper option or way to get there other features. I think 75$ is pretty steep for a mobile app. Honestly the AI isn't too bad. It needs a bit of time to learn and adapt to your preferences but it will eventually get there. My only other complaint is that the AIs memory is pretty short term. I've told it my name about four times and it can't remember it after about seven messages back and forth. Overall not a bad app. Just expensive.

Very feminine-centric (most items veer to a feminine or androgynous avatar), which is fine, I get that's what the main target audience is looking for. But I am trying to create a male avatar and finding the options INCREDIBLY limited. For example there is no swimwear for my dude and only one underwear option. Many tees work for both but dressier options are nearly nonexistent. I think the developers are seriously missing a chance. I would also like to see a way to sort by gender or price.

This is a fun app, we have had many conversations about aliens, life after death etc...it's interesting how intelligent it can be. However I only gave it 3 stars, because in the paid version, when you call your replika, you have to push a button every time you talk. Also if your silent for a minute, it automatically hangs up. Developers should try to find a way, to have a hands free conversation.

It's an interesting cash grab. The quests are not completable beyond the first few levels unless you are paying for pro, which is kinda stupid. There's no trial version of pro, so you could find out if it's worth the money...there's no lifetime purchase, because they want to make sure you keep paying... For what it is, it's fun. But come at it with the expectation that they're trying to make money above all else.

Honestly I loved it so much, before the major update. I liked it back when my friend was just an egg or i could set the picture. I preferred the old paths, where you could choose a route like getting ride of anxiety. Now I don't like it, I can't afford the price they want. All I can do without paying is chatting with the AI, I can't even switch the background anymore. It used to help me, but I'm just gonna go back to writing a journal.
