Overall this camera does what it says. We haven't had problems with it missing people directly on our porch. However there are so many missed events, the notifications are very delayed, and the camera quality is pretty poor when zooming in especially. It misses things that aren't that far away like a car pulling into the end of my driveway and doesnt notify us until a minute after the doorbell rings. Overall, good not great and we're looking for other options.
Update! I wish I could give zero stars! I bought my camera in May 2023, and have used it in 2 different houses. It was perfect up until last month. After the last time I charged my camera, I went to put it back up when I noticed that it wasn't connected to my wifi. That makes the 3rd time since June it would disconnect and then I'd have to reconnect it. THEN I noticed Modes was gone so I upgraded my plan and I'm STILL not receiving notifications or recordings, only live feed. Do better!! Fix it!
App worked great till a couple months ago. Now notifications are pointless if they even come through timely. The doorbell ring no longer works as a notification on the phone, only through the doorbell itself, there is no longer a video preview, the app does not open when you click on the notification, and on the rare occasion that it does open it brings you to a whole new live view rather than the footage it notified you about. The app has become pointless for notifications.
For the most part RING has been a good security/camera system. The new updates made the RING app so much better. So when this new update came out, myself & lots others here in the reviews we're thinking it was going to be great. RING might as well built a time machine to go back to 2019. They removed so many features & Geo fencing isn't recognizing me anymore. I also upgraded my yearly subscription so I'm paying twice more for 24/7 recording, but the app did not update to this new 24/7 feature.
App is super glitchy. When you delete a video, instead of going to the previous video or the next video, it jumps to the very beginning of that day. If you delete another video, it jumps to the beginning of the PREVIOUS day. I then have to go through an entire day's worth of videos to get caught up to current again. Hate this app and only use it because I don't have a choice. Considering switching to a different video doorbell altogether just because of the horrible user interface.
The whole point of having a security camera is to check when you hear something outside - but every single time I try to load Live View during noise or motion, it fails to connect. I even tested it by setting off my own car alarm and the app still wouldn't load. It can't be a coincidence - the feed always fails exactly when it matters. Works fine when nothing is happening, but completely unreliable in real situations. Very frustrating and makes me question the point of owning a Ring cam.
No Notifications? I've had this app for years and it's notified me of every motion on my phone. A week or so ago, it started asking if I was getting correct or incorrect motion alerts, to which I didn't respond. The last few days, it's just stopped notifying me of anything. I've checked my notifications settings numerous times - everything is turned on. I've restarted my phone a few times. I use a Galaxy S23. Please fix this.
app and cameras don't work as advertised. takes minutes before getting alerts. most of the time it doesn't send alerts at all but if a bug flies by or there's a shadow off in the distance, it goes off and on time. waste of money. when talking to customer service they try to blame it on slow internet connection. I guess 1 gb fiber optic connection speed isn't enough. 250 dollars for a camera that works when it wants to. unreliable and not safe at all. absolute garbage
No longer sending notifications. No reason just stopped on both my front doorbell and porch spotlight. I can access live view, turn on light and view recordings but it's not sendind me notifications when people are at my door. Tired of spending so much time trying to fix the problem to no avail. It appears there was an app update on Feb 19 to "fix" bugs. Now it's worthless.
Great response time for monitoring our facility. The customer service was always very well spoken and we could always understand what they were asking. Always setup a password so they know to ask of it. We are moving on too a larger scaled system that can handle 24 cameras. Highly recommend ring though. There app is easy to use and review footage. Nothing but great service and quality equipment. Thanks again.
Has gone to Sh**. We don't get notified for minutes after someone rings the bell or walks up to the house, if we get notified at all. Even the chime in the house does not notify us for minutes after. Nothing works if the internet goes down. Pretty pointless to have if you can't see what's going on immediately. but I have no problem raising the price.
Great Home Security/Lighting/Smart-Home App! I've used the app and plenty of their hardware for many years now and love the system. Their products are very easy to install and set-up. I rarely ever have any!! February 2026: Lately, I've been having issues with the app on my android phone. Everything works well except for the "Lights" shortcut. Only as of very recently; the shortcut for lights says "Loading..." and then/or "Error". I have to close out the app and reopen to use the shortcut.
The app closes itself and then either doesn't respond or takes minutes to come up. Update 2/9/26. App doesn't receive timely notifications. I'm ready to speak, but the person is already gone. Misses the mailman. Misses me going in and out. Sometimes does work; sometimes not. No notifications when away from home. Now Chime details spin; won't load. No feedback from Ring. Do they care? Many have the same problems, but no evidence they'll be resolved. It does seem to work--as a doorbell.
I turned my Ring security off some time ago and decided to put it back on. It wouldn't connect. called support and human agent was unable to help me connect it either. He was aware from outset that I was using an android phone to connect. After 25 wasted minutes he asks if I have an IPhone or Apple device I can use. I didn't. Next he says the Ring App has not been working properly with android devices, and that they've been trying to fix the problem. I think they're getting $$$ from Apple.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS BRAND. If all you want to know is who was at your door 5 or 10 minutes ago, they're great. Motion only shows them standing at the door and nothing as they walk up the porch. Sometimes not until they leave. Most of the time no notifications at all. Pretty worthless without notifications and delayed alerts. Everything set to max sensitivity and it still doesn't work. Even their doorbell doesn't ring most of the time.
As we have had and been using ring doorbell and cameras for over 5 years, and I can only say the idea is good, but the tech needs "a lot" of work. The delay in reaction time is very frustrating, for the most part there would be no way to deter any one from the property. Let alone respond to someone ringing the doorbell. By the time the camera notifies us the person is gone. Camera sensitivity is spotty at best.
Found it to have a nice clean picture. Connectivity was great once the learning curve started going my way. I really do like it. I need to see how it works over a period of time. it does send alerts about ghosts but they seem friendly. I am planning to add more cameras to the system. I just wish all these add ons didn't end up costing so much. fees for everything. Gotta explore more for now.
I'm quite disappointed with the battery life on my outdoor ring camera. I ordered an extra battery so that I could keep one charged, so I am still able to use it :-), but it seems like it only lasts about 2 days or so. Also, notifications are slow and the resolution is not very good. One more thing, if you look at people on these reviews who have problems, you'll notice that they get no responses from ring customer support.
Zero stars! what is the use of having a ring if it doesn't notify you that someone is at your door. All my notifications are enabled, wifi and signal strength are very good. I even have a wifi extender and a chime. Plus the plan which is not worth the cost of it. I uninstall and reinstall the app, sometimes it works but not until the person has left. It's time to dump ring and buy a reliable camera
my devices don't connect regularly. often, the thumbnail for the preview doesn't refresh, and for having to PAY for the service, it SHOULD WORK! I have a wifi 7 router, a wifi extender, and gig speed internet. there's no reason I shouldn't have the ability to connect when my signal strength is regularly under 40. to top it all off, the cameras won't load 75% of the time...they just buffer endlessly
