This game has a standard mix of some basic building, exploration, combat, events, etc. It is well done for a phone app and I DO like it...but it gets slow, fast, if you aren't willing to pay frequently. I only just started and I am already looking at a whole day of production for one small step forward. There is just not a lot to do other than wait for the gold to slooowly accumulate. I would honestly watch more ads to get gold but nope. Gotta just wait. We'll see how long my patience lasts.
The game itself was fine. Never felt forced to watch ads. Made it to the bronze age (not very far) and the next time I logged in it had restarted me and was trying to take me thru the tutorial. Absolutely nothing changed on my phone. Didn't get an update, it didn't die, not a thing. I just put it down and came back to it a couple hours later and my progress had disappeared. I'm disappointed because I wanted to see the game progress further!
Cute game. Graphics are nice. The battle tactics are a fun feature. My low rating is due to the pacing of the game. Having only reached the second Era (Minoan maybe?) I found my self only able to play for about 45 seconds every 4 hours. This is due to how long it takes to gather money and food which is necessary to level up. I didn't enjoy that aspect of the game.
I am thoroughly enjoying this game. Very similar to Forge of Empires, except no one is attacking you. It does still have guilds and some cooperative play aspects. I do not find the game play to be too slow or difficult to achieve using only in game resources. I have earned enough gems to buy additional expansions several times. Yes, you do reach a point where you have to decide what you will build based on the space you have, but imo that is part of the skill of the game. Free Fun.
Been playing a long time and I've finished the last era. Heard there were ads, but my fully updated game has none. Pricing is STUPID! Hence three stars. Usually I support games with some cash, but not at these prices. "Special" sales make stupid prices merely ridiculous. Plus side is you don't need to spend to stay on top. Pace is slow. That's intentional and not a bad thing. Alliance features are very slim.
Genuinely a fun game for a while, but there's glaring problems. The timers are all wildly different forcing you to constantly open the game and reset production. The gem pricings are ridiculous. Events season pass, and alliance rewards just aren't worth bothering with compared to just progressing the tech tree. Once you start listing the issues you realize it's time to move on.
I play a bunch of mobile games and this one is by far my favorite. Excellent graphics, plenty of strategic elements, the battles, events and seasons are pretty cool too. Their support is super-quick to respond and extremely helpful. Optional "paid" or ad-based elements don't dominate the game; it's completely playable for free, just a bit slower than buying gems or watching ads. Regular updates keep me interested. This is the best "advance cultures through history" game out there!
The game has decent promise but the choke point on advancing out of the stone age made me uninstall. I finished every quest and advanced to the first tech of the bronze age, but couldn't unlock it until I finished the stone age combat quests. I worked on both simultaneously but scouting takes much longer. I could only progress combat, then scout, then wait. This type of choke point is bad for the start of a game as I had very little time invested, thus little motivation to stick it out.
I like the game, but there are never enough workers to fill all the job slots, retrain your army (which gets 90% killed during every battle), and investigate instances. You can only do 1 at a time, and sometimes you're stuck waiting up to 20 minutes for workers to become available again. Every time a job upgrades it needs more workers, but the houses never hold more people. It feels a bit unbalanced and tedious, honestly, but it's cute.
Best of genre. There's a few things to set this apart. Houses generate coins for 6 whole hours, so you don't have to check every 5 minutes to collect. You don't have to build roads, so you have much greater freedom to design your city's layout. Combat is real time rather than turn based or automated/nonexistent. Only complaint is balance issues. Early on I have a severe shortage of gold. There is nothing to do but wait. Just need to upgrade military but waiting 2 days for gold to stack up.
I have a couple issues that annoyed me before I got too far in, it's possible the farming queue is better managed later but at first having to line up the queue when there's only one option for the farm is do ridiculous it just kept bothering me. The other issue was there was no way to mark all news items as read, so I had to go into each one and acknowledge it and even after going in to each one it still said I had messages but none of the messages were unread. Totally superficial I know
The infantry unit scaling is not fun. I am often out-numbered and out scaled. The battle mechanics ignore strategy and unit placement. Each battle, I cross my fingers and hope that I win. The pay-to-win economy is awful. If you wanted to invest cash into this game, it's a rip off. It will last a minute and see little progress. If you purchase a structure, you still have to use pay-wall currency to upgrade it to your current culture. The game rarely gives out the pay-wall currency.
Perks: there are NO ADS! And the game is really addicting! Like any other phone game, there are in app purchases but I guess that's give and take for not having ads. I don't like how many gems is takes to do things, so I typically won't buy them. I wish there were more options for bundles that you could also buy research points, I've only seen that option once. There is some wait time where there's nothing you can do on the game until you slowly get research points but over all I love it.5stars
A good, stand-alone game. Fairly easy to figure out the game mechanics and button functions. One reviewer complained of it being too linear and not having enough control over choices; that's called a tutorial. It feeds well into the story mode, which is practcally required for a stand-alone, non-pvp game. My only gripe is that you have to babysit the farm productions and que up more, unlike the houses which generate coins nonstop.
This is a great game. No PvP destroying my kingdom while I sleep. Great PvE play and attainable goals for special events. There's adds, but you don't *have* to watch them and the perks are nice if you do. Don't touch the adds though. It crashes the game and you don't get your reward and there's no way to try and go back to do it again ie:healing. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of adds? If I paid to advertise with this game I'd be mad.
Overall, a pretty good game. There are two things that keep me from giving a 5 star rating: 1. In battle, the inability to control which enemy units my troops attack first. I'm tired of losing battles because of poor strategy. 2. Not sure how to explain this, so I'll just give an example. To research Toxotai, you need 1,460 Tomas. However, Toxoai is one of the many technologies required in order to create togas myself rather than very slowly acquiring them via global offers.
Love the game so far but I have run into a game breaking glitch that I feel should be adressed. There is a quest called Gift Of Goats in which you collect 50 food and 50 gold from your buildings. Each time I click on it to complete the task, an error is shown where I need to reload the game which resets the task to collect 50 food and 50 gold again. Do other players encounter this same issue? And if so, can you ignore the task to play thru the game further? Or am I not able to play past this?
I like the concept of the game but I hate the fact that in order to progress you are forced to trade since you haven't unlocked the necessary item(s) you need on the progression tree. Moreover, you are only allowed to have X amount of houses, barracks, workshops or farms at any given time, unless you pay real money to buy more houses, as opposed to letting you choose how many of each you want without limiting you. That slows down the game so much
With more development and creativity, this game could be pretty good. As it is,it's very repetitive and gets boring. There's a very limited number of challenges you can do and having to collect food multiple times a day to advance is boring. In battles, the units don't appear to have specific strengths. Cavalry getting quotes out by archers? Reinforcements from commanders go where they please. Put them behind enemy archers and they ignore them for some other unit. I'd say more, but no more space
Not made for free-to-play. The game is alright, but it has a progression issue for those that don't spend money. There's no Ads, which is nice, but that's also means they have to make their money elsewhere in the game. Your land quickly becomes overcrowded, and the only way to expand is spend money or progress, but you can't progress without building, and you can't build without space. Events are heavily aimed at paid players, 1 task on a paid farm or 40 on a free farm. Total BS.
