It's very heavy on the pay-to-win. And it's filled with a lot of useless things as well as some counter-intuitive things. There's an annoying news crawl that you can't turn off, you can only pause. Game crashes EVERY TWO MINUTES and you end up spending more time reloading than in gameplay. The one good thing I can say about it is the that the frequent multiple app-crashes don't affect the game play all that much. It's a game that the developers need to work on. Maybe hire someone that can code.
Updated ** I have been playing for a bit over a month now. Sad to say it is very much a pay to play game. It is fun initially, and in lower levels, it is easy to level up quickly, but as you get higher, leveling up buildings/researching takes a long time and tons of resources. If you don't spend money, you plateau and get demolished by people who do. I was so excited at first but sorely disappointed as time goes.
False advertisement. Nothing like ages of empires that the add made it look like. After the response from the developer, I will add a little more. Yes it has all kinds of different things to do. It's not a bad game, but it is NOTHING LIKE AGES OF IMPIRES! Which your add on tik tok or Facebook, where ever I saw it, makes it look like. I loved that game and was very disappointed when I downloaded this one to find out it's very similar to other mobile games I have played in the past. Not a bad game!
Would have been less than one star if that was an option. This game is advertised as a real time strategy game but that is not the case. There is no strategy at all for the top 1% of players (by ranking). They simply spend unbelievable amounts on in game purchases to level up and harass other players that actually use strategy. I would recommend avoiding this game altogether.
So far, the game is enjoyable, but the first thing I noticed when booting up the game is that the background music isn't theirs it's the elder scrolls 5 Skyrim tavern theme. I've played games that take sound clips from Skyrim all the time, but they make it very apparent by giving credit to the game or studio. Here, I can't seem to find that anywhere. I might be missing some thing, but other than that, the gameplay is like any other mobile kingdom builder. So if you like those games, go for it.
Fun until you hit level 88, and then you pretty much have to spend 50-100$ just so you can scratch the biggest whales in the game. Not free to play friendly, unfortunately. Animations lack polish, and the combat isn't very immersive. It's just numbers being thrown at each other and you read the report afterward. I was reached out to, to test this game but have been encouraged to spend money and haven't heard or received anything from the original recruiter. Very greedy and overpriced prices.
It's enjoyable so far. However I do have a couple of issues. I want to forge things. It says I have to battle certain levels to get the blueprint. I have done many battles and still no blue prints. Update 2/17 Unless you spend money and all your time playing the game you can't get very far. Everytime I try to save goof to level.up buildings and advance my town I'm constantly getting attacked by other players and everything is gone. Most likely will be deleting it.
It's an OK game. I've been playing about a month. It has its downsides. For 1, you HAVE to spend money to keep up, otherwise you're constantly kicked around by more powerful players who spend a lot of money. There is no safe space or solace unless you want to stay shielded.... which costs money. Also, after a certain level everything takes so long gameplay slows way down, waiting 3 days for a building so you can move forward. I can already feel it will get old soon.
Started really playing today. I love the play so far. It has great quests to follow. Building up seems to be more time-consuming because you have to pay for additional workers that only work for a finite time, but if you're patient and do not care about this, it works ok. I wish there was more instruction on how to fight certain aspects on the world map. However, that simply just could be me and my misunderstanding. With more play time, I will rereview. I do enjoy this game so far!
The advertisements of old AOE style play were the farthest from the truth. I am very disappointed and will not be playing past my first 90 minutes. The game like many is riddled with requests to pay to win. Had enough games like that. Where can I just pay the one time charge to be able to play and use genuine strategy and skill to defeat other players? Oh yea, back on my PC 20 years ago.
In spite of how it's advertised, this is definitely NOT Age of Empires. This is just another of the boring, formulaic mobile MMORPG games designed so that the player who makes the most in-game purchases and spends the most real-world money rules and wins. The game 'hand-holds' the player through Level 40, never letting them have any input into the design of their city. Minimizing the game for even a moment results in it going through the entire bootup process. Don't waste your time on this!
Shameless rip of AOE. They took a lot of the sprites and sounds and wrapped them up in a Game Of War / Mobile Strike style game. A game type that has been redone to exhaustion. This game is NOT "just like Age of Empires" like the ads say. Don't waste your time, or your money. These games are often pay to win, so the more money you spend the stronger your army is. A few hundred dollars can rebuild your army in minutes, something a f2p player has to wait days for. It's unbalanced.
Fun game, however has a bunch of bugs still which need fixing. For example I already researched 6 or 7 times in college tier 2 infantry, cavalry, & archery. The research would complete but it'll show nothing, like I never researched it. I already tried everything, I paid diamonds for it and still no result. Very frustrating! If they're willing to fix, I'll change my rating. However for now I would not advise to spend money on game which doesn't work properly yet. Otherwise, I like it overall
No complaints, but similar to other building kingdom games. Update: A month later... The game is good, but be aware of having to pay a lot to get gear, characters, or different items. Also, please be aware of which server you are in. Depending on the server you are in determines the rules that each server has. Thus, I didn't really enjoy the server and allies I was with. They wanted me to constantly move around the map. Every weekend I lost a lot resources.
Skip this app. Yes, it's pay to win. But the things that really drag this game down: latency-takes forever to load, so time critical notifications are useless, easily select the wrong things too, and system really slows down during events like the Imperial Tournament. Documentation is poor, especially if you are an English or Spanish speaker. Play is VERY one-sided, on any server one team dominates the other two. You can "farm" this game, but there are so many other quality diversions available.
Just started playing today but it looks great! It's not nearly as much like the pc version of Age of Empires as I'd like but they've turned it into a decent mmorpg. I seem to be having an issue upgrading my food production fast enough to keep up with everything else, though. Maybe more ways to get food that doesn't require a team participation? Great job overall though from what I've seen thus far! :)
This game is not like it is advertised, That's what they call false advertising. It's not like Age Of Empires at all... I suggest that you get your developer's to find the computer game and play it. I am extremely unhappy with it and will be deleting the game as soon as I finish my review. How you build stuff is all wrong, gathering is all wrong, and training troops is all wrong. It's like you guys went and found different games like Mafia and others like that and just peiced them together.
Game is like Game of War. The strongest player will be the one who sinks the most money into the game. Upgrade times are at 365 days for a single upgrade. I would probably play this game if I was a MULTI MILLIONAIRE. But even then dude, that is a LOT of money. Literally thousands. You can even google about how player spent 980,000 USD on the game, who is the strongest by FAR in all servers combined. It's ridiculous. I know this complaint wont change the game either, which really sucks.
Terrible game! You guys had a great game with age of empires and all you had to do was make it mobile. You screwed up in every aspect. You've changed all the fun parts of the game and left nothing but click here, click here, click here, etc. I deleted this game originally at level 20 after figuring out what garbage it was but then re-downloaded it just to leave this review. All you had to do was make age of empires mobile and then let us do battle, it's fairly simple.
Boring, waste of time and money. in the beginning it's alright, and you can also get attacked while having a shield on your town from other players. To get tier 2 troops you have to research the same thing in the college 7 times. While to get tier 1 you have to research it once, they should've just or could just made you do it twice instead of seven because you got multiple tiers of troops to go through. Not worth your time or effort at all.
