This app isn't just bad, it is unusable. On each android phone I have tried, the issue is the same. I try to fill in my name and the keyboard sticks. "E" becomes "EEee", etc. To work around it I have tried copy+paste, and that works for 1 sec, and I am asked to fill in my name again. I have been using the old Ruter Bilett app for years now, because it at least work. Update: I was able to make it work by first creating an account on ruter.no before logging in in the app.
This app had some issues in the past, but seems to have solved them all. Payments are done in a user friendly way and now they even added new features such as showing travel routes and saving them in the app.
I can't even create an account! not possible to create an account using a Moroccan number, you must think twice about tourists as many countries are missing ...
Edit 19.12.2025 f...you incompetent A app is only useful to purchase tickets. other than that the app is useless. Wondering when the next bus or tram is arriving? the info on the app is 98% of the time false. But it is more the incompetence of ruter than the app. Embarrassing! Edit: 16.10.2025 The " continuous work " is not noticeable at all! in the 14 years that I live in Oslo. The bus/tram/metro coming in 3, 2,1...9.8minutes. So stop apologizing and do your job ruter! Even more embarrassing!
My initial review was aimed at a missing "check for departures from station". This has since then been added from map, and added again as a tab in the main page. This feature, and the ability to see where the vehicle in question is on the journey (gps) has saved me a lot of time as i now can time my travel and connections much better. Hats off, i was frustrated at first, but it has been worth the wait. +1 if tracking = optional when using an account. But atleast having an account is optional.
Awful. Very awkward and unintuitive if you want to buy a ticket! Some time later: I've used the app for a month or so now, so I've gotten used to it, but there are massive problems. If you click on a station to find out departure times, you cannot use the same view to buy a ticket. You also have to know which zone you're in and travelling to, as that information is assumed knowledge! Next, if you want to see when a ferry is leaving next Sunday, it's not possible! Only good for regular commuters.
Some feedback is due: 1. When you press on a transport stop on map it stopped making route there. Just shows what goes on the stop. 2. No long-press on the map and "travel there". Generally, it's hard to select two locations on the map and make a route between them. I am bad at names, I don't want to type addresses, please give me option to select points on map. If there is one, I was not able to find it, it might be not intuitive :(
The payment options are a nightmare for tourists. Had some friends visiting and they had to revert to the old app (Ruter Bilett) that supports paypal. It's a strange decision to limit payments only to cards from certain countries, as if it's not 2021 and the whole world does online shopping AND IT ACTUALLY WORKS all over the world. Really bad decision to phase out ticket machines, remove PayPal and restrict cards to only a few countries. It's as if you guys want tourists to get fined.
The app has an illogical flow, it's very hard to navigate through the various pieces of info that would like to see. I believe the app has been made overly complicated. Why not just offer a simple way (two input fields/lists) of specifying from where you want to leave and to where you want to go? That's it. There are just too many "bells and whistles" right now.
Stop disallowing paste functionality when filling out payment card details. It doesn't improve security, it just makes your service much less usable and accessible. It's basically hostile to the user. Edit: dev response says this isn't an issue, & I see there's a new version of the app. I had the latest version when I tried & the issue was definitely there, as I don't live in Norway I'm not about to update and try again. I just needed it once.
I can't show a ticket for inspection without an internet connection?? Seriously? The core feature that worked in RuterBilett and you dropped it? I used to refresh my ticket once in the morning at home and then even without internet I was sure I was ready for inspection at any moment. Now I stress out every time because I depend on the unreliable data connection. I'm extremely disappointed. Maybe you should use your own app more often and be subject to real fines to see it from user perspective.
This used to be a great simple app, now it's garbage for what I used it for. I want to pick a station and easily spot which routes leaves the station at any time. Looks like it was tested on a pad and on smartphones as icons take a lot of screen space. The app starts with opening up a map that takes half your screen, for no reason. It just feels very bloated. It's like using windows 8 when you are used to windows 7. I just want to see my fav stations like I did in the old app.
This simply isn't good enough. Right now I ended up suddenly having bought two tickets instead of one, because after clicking "Confirm and pay now", the home screen I was sent back to, still didn't show my active ticket. Go back to your old app, and restart this development process! Sometimes it's necessary to be able to admit a mistake, even after having invested in it.

Can't add a credit card. I tried both by using the camera and filling it in manually. In both cases i fill in all the details of the card and tap "save card" button Then the "Save Card" screen closes and the card is not added nor saved. (I'm trying to add a master card, which I've used with the Ruter app before.) So i ended up buying my monthly card on the old Ruter card instead.
Garbage app from a scam company that basically sees how little service they can provide for tax money that the government gives them. App sucks, service sucks. I don't see why we are forced to pay for this garbage. The government must stop funding these scammers.
Not easy to navigate and it is often hard to get to page/option one needs. I also see that real time is non-existent. One example, the planned travel time disappesred 2 minutes before the actual departure. One last thing is missing favorites that would give you time table for all departures to all destinations applicable for that location. The favorites now seems to be only giving travel info to/from ones location by default and does not give (from what l see) an overview of all departures.
its lowkey horrible because it doesebt show right times on whrn its coming. like for example, it said on the app that the bus was going to come 16:49 and i came around 16:47 and it said that the bus had allready left 3 minutes ago. it was great at first but i hav been late to a lot of stuff because its wrong
Worked well for the first 2 days but Thursday am it was a total waste of time. Thankfully Google Maps came to the rescue to help plan our trips. Anything I tried including edit favourites just resulted in the message "We don't know exactly what went wrong but.... ". I reinstalled the app but I still had the same error message. I tried again late Thursday afternoon and it was working fine. I had a good WiFi connection all day and my other apps were okay. Ruter checked so now 2 stars.
As mentioned of others UI is really nice. And it's nice to have the ticket with the routes. Buuuut. It is so buggy and slow. Sometimes it doesn't even show the routes, it appears to be loading the routes endlessly. Also the ticket you have doesn't show sometimes too, which cause some stressful situations. Google maps work so much better with this. Instant loading, easy to navigate. I find ruter app annoying sometimes since it has that extra click to see directions to your destination.
I just landed in Norway and installed this software. It's quite complicated that I cannot see the route or the train name after buying a ticket but have to navigate through the route selection process again to remind me of the platform where my train leaves and which train I have to take. The ticket is showing only some zones that I, a first time user have no idea what they cover. So when a customer buys a ticket, make the platform and train (or other vehicle) visible in the ticket information.
