If I could give less than 1 star, I would. app doesn't work. I'm literally stuck on the "sign up" page. all questions answers, email fine, password accepted and yet.... all the "register" button does is have a little white circle that spins for a second then stops. won't sign me up/register me, and obviously can't log in without that. I have a screen recording of its uselessness.
Pointless; impossible to set up if you've already got the nectar app. I downloaded it and logged in, that was the last thing that went right. Unfortunately it struggled to scan the card, although the image looked ok. It demanded I type in the last 11 digits of the card but before I could finish doing that I got a message to say the card was already registered to an account. There is no way to get beyond that page; presumably the account referred to is my nectar app. Am I expected to delete it?
App suddenly stopped working roughly a month ago. Will not recognise any item barcode I scan (Pixel 7, Android v.14, latest update), tried in 3 different Sainsburys stores. Just says item not recognised, please try again, every time. I have tried logging out and back in, uninstalling & reinstalling the app, clearing data and clearing cache, no difference. Not fit for purpose.
Never had any issues with this app, it's genuinely excellent! Wish other shops would follow suit instead of relying on scanners only - I don't have enough hands to push a trolley, hold my phone with my shopping list AND hold the scanner. I happily drive an extra 3 miles to shop at my local "big" Sainsbury's over anyone else because of this app. Only improvement I'd request is having a stock checker like in the Tesco app and then it would be perfect!
Keeps not identifying the correct store! My location is on, phone recognises where I am because other apps appear to have it correct, but seems to think I'm 20 mins in the wrong direction and no I haven't passed by that area for it to think that's where I am now- at least not for the past 7 days! I have to turn my phone on/off to get the app to recognise where I actually am and not where it thinks I am! Phone and app are both up to date with the latest software updates I already checked this.
Two suggestions to improve this app. 1. Digital receipts viewable in app, Lidl have had this for 2 years now??? 2. The scanner should be open in the shopping list window too, so you don't have to keep swapping between List and Basket. It could even be enableable so people that don't want the scanner in the list window can disable it.
I find the app easy to use and usefully, you can also check your Nectar offers. The one thing that is missing is the ability to produce a receipt in the app. If Lidl can do it on their app, why can't Sainsbury's. If this could be done electronically, no paper required for an old fashioned receipt.
This app and system are quite pointless, really. Half the time the app doesn't work and everytime you manage to use it and scann your shopping, you are stop at till and some items need to be checked out again; so what is the point... ?. The time you saved scanning your shopping is later wasted wating for a Sainsury's shop attendant to come and do another check. "Scan bag and go" That's a joke!.
Since they introduced My ID 'to make login easier' I now can't login into the app at all. It keeps telling me my password is wrong even though I can login to the Sainsbury's website with it. Tried changing my password, uninstalling and reinstalling, etc, etc but still doesn't work. Absolute shambles Sainsbury's.
Not suitable for big shopping. Very hit&miss as app constantly switches off during a big shopping for a family of 4, and currently having to do once a week. The app also on number of occasions crashed and everything that has been scanned disappears, very frustrating if you are about to finish a big load of stopping. Then at check out have had to frequently rescan 14 items for security. Any error like bar code was not read correctly by the till scanner you have to scan all your shopping again.
worked fine now I get to the till and it doesn't send the shop says there's a issue. Which means I have to then go to another and scan it all. Not useful for people who struggle in a shop environment. This have been since the update.
Was excellent, convenient and functional. Now none of those things. Scanning an item causes the app to hang and occasionally the entire phone. You might get "an error occurred" after five minutes standing helplessly in the veg aisle with a packet of onions in your hand. Uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted phone, did all the things - no dice. Whatever they screwed up has not been fixed, it's been a few weeks now.
PLEASE fix the app! as per other reviews, it is now months since this app has stopped working properly. Reinstalling meant readding my nectar details. Now I keep getting error 34009. No dice. i do not appreciate using store scanners just to get nectar prices as I am immunocompromised and need to clean these before use every time. have called support to know avail. PLEASE fix!
I've been using the app for a long time and was brilliant until recently when you decided to introduce My ID now I can only do 3 shops before I have to delete the app and try all over again. I have registered for My ID but still keep getting these errors. please sort this out or it'll be deleted for good.
Not just the app, but sainsbury's login in general. stupid log in criteria, sick of it. No, I won't change my password to 72 random characters and an exclamation mark with a sacrifice of my first born's blood. The whole point is meant to be something personal and memorable to me! Stop making up stupid bloody rules! My password is fine the way it is!
I really want to like this app but it is too problematic. The last time I went to sainsbury's, the app deleted my shopping list halfway through. It also refuses to acknowledge that I'm in store sometimes, and so I have to keep pressing the 'start a shop button'. As a result, I have to bring my nectar card and a backup shopping list, just in case the app fails.
Frustrating! Used to be great. Now I get a message that I need to reconnect/log in by 31st Jan or my SmartShop account will be closed. But every time I try I get 2 messages. One that the details don't look correct and the other that the servers are down and to try again. I updated details for Sainsbury's AND Nectar and tried again. Many times. As I can log in perfectly well through the computer, it suggests that the servers are not down. It's now 31st Jan so it looks like I'm stuffed!
Since May, amost every time I scan in to my local superstore, I get the error message "... something went wrong ...". I have found that if I go to the app's settings and log out, then immediately log in again and "start shop" again, I can immediately scan into the shop successfully. Occasionally, I can scan in without having to log out and log in first.
Something has gone wrong with this app: its been telling me to set up My ID to log in, and it will close my account if I don't login before 28th February. The app doesn't tell me how to set up My ID. Customer help online are absolutely useless and nobody in any stores knows how to fix it. So I'll stop shopping in Sainsburys. M&S have a brilliant app which lets you scan and pay without using the checkouts. Are Sainsburys really interested in customer feedback?
great for small shop NOT for Big. I'm guessing from some of the reviews pervious. they were big shops which means it's highly likely to be checked for. one other issue is a lot of the time. the app goes blank and I have to restart the app for it to work especially at stores with bad signal.
