I really wish there was a pause function. I spent my morning trying to do a corded transfer and it was in the last few minutes when the battery in one phone ran out. (I don't have a cordless charger.) I wish it just saved as it went, and then since you don't transfer duplicates, if someone has to stop for any reason, they can just end it, retaining what's been transferred so far, and start a new sync to transfer any remaining stuff they couldn't before.
Worst thing ever!!!! I tried to connect with a cable between two Samsung phones. I kept getting a message to open the app on the other phone and scan the QR code. The only problem, their is no way to leave the app open and scan the code. The other message was to update the app but Google play is so stupid it only allowed me to download the app on a different device. Spent over an hour and nothing was ever transferred or even started.
Pales in comparison to Apple where I could switch someone else's phone and EVERYTHING transferred. They didn't need to sign back in, agree again to privacy policies, etc. It was as easy as it should be bc the physical device changed but no settings, software, agreements, or anything else did. It was also very fast. Smart switch transferred some things, but settings do not match, nearly everything wants me to sign back in, agree to their policies again, etc. and it's taking forever. This is trash
The most frustrating piece of garbage ever. It would get partway through, then display an error message saying the connection had been lost. They were connected by a USB-C cable! How could they lose the connection? I must have tried 15 or 16 times, no luck. The highest I got was about 35% transferred. Each time I restarted, it asked if I wanted to continue the transfer that had been interrupted. I clicked yes. It restarted the transfer from the beginning anyway.
It worked quite well for me using the USB cable option. Be sure to wait until your OLD phone notifies you that it's OK to disconnect the cable. Your new phone may start prompting you to do more setup, but it's probably best to hold off until you get that OK from the old one. Be prepared to spend at least a few hours getting your apps signed back in, data transferred, etc. Each app is different. Good idea to keep your old phone around & connected to Wi-Fi for a while.
Pros: Was able to restore all my files, settings, and most of my app data. Cons: Requires you to allow the connection on your old phone, which is difficult to do when your old phone is busted. And if you don't allow the connection fast enough, it will give you an error and make you start over. Some of my app data was still missing. I used the wireless option as I could not get the USB option to work at all.
Pretty good, but lacks a critical feature. I had no problem connecting via cable, and it was easy enough to transfer contacts, call history, and messages. I was able to pretty much duplicate my old phone, and that is where my major criticism comes. I want to transfer a few of my apps to the new phone, not all of them. If there is an option, it isn't very obvious. My new phone has enough bloatware, I don't want to bog it down with all my old seldom used apps too.
I purchased a new Samsung device for the holidays. My previous tablet had zero problems transferring my data. Unfortunately, that is NOT the case this time. I follow all the prompts, but for some reason, the wireless transfer gets to 5.4% before saying the connection is lost. I have tried numerous times with no success. HOW does the connection keep getting dropped when the devices are literally right next to each other?! Samsung has been losing cool points lately!
Constantly losing connection! I've used the app with a transfer cable and over wifi. In the wifi mode it won't connect the phones half of the time and just gets stuck in searching mode. Once the phones recognize each other (wired or wireless) they will transfer about 30-50% of the data and then get stuck. If you leave it for a while you get an error saying that the connection was lost and the phones can't see each other. Really frustrating!
Not optimal or time saving. You would think Samsung could do better with this app. Transferring the data from one phone to the other sounds good in theory, but if all of the former preferences, passwords, messages don't go over, it's useless. I have spent three days resetting all of my notification sounds, text messages which took 3 attempts and re-signing in to all of my apps which meant looking up all of the passwords. I might have been just better off reinstalling everything on my own.
Absolutely useless. I have wasted a hour installing and reinstalling and trying to get it to work transferring from a recent Galaxy to a brand new Galaxy, again and again and again, and it literally fails every single time in one of several different ways. Sometimes it won't connect at all. Sometimes the app will just shut off and disappear, sometimes it will connect briefly then crash. Worthless.
IF YOU LOVE BEING HACKED ON A REGULAR BASIS, THIS IS THE APP FOR YOU. Yes, you need a cable, so the tech challenges me. Yes, but what about all of that data that smart switch stores. I believe it's the whole shebang, right. I have been hacked several times, and they usually use Yahoo mail to get it, according to my Google account activity. After that, they usually go right into developer settings, tweak a few things, and then get into the app data of yours truly "Smart Switch," passwords, yum 😋
Terrible app. I had to set up two different Samsung phones this Christmas and it has been a nightmare. The first phone I eventually managed (after trying several times using both, the wifi and the cable option) to set up and transfer all the data from my Xiaomi. The second phone is a Samsung but can't use the cable given that they have different connections. The wifi option doesn't seem to be working despite both phones are on the same wifi network and they are next to each other.
works well when the new device is a Samsung. However it appears to be no good if you're switching from Samsung to something else. *Edit Well, my s23 ultra experience has been absolutely awful. The least reliable device I have ever owned, comparing that to a 10-year-old Motorola which is performing about equally, as they're both barely able to handle the McDonald's app. and it is outshined easily by my S20FE 5g for reliability. so I am happy to get rid of it even if it's less easy than necessary
I'm confused. It seems like I can't use some of the normal Google data restore functions like restoring my messages, without using this app. It's never been a problem on other devices. I like the Google solution. Not sure why I would want to put all my messages into a third party app to get them from one android device to another.

I had low expectations for backwards compatibility, but am astonished that I was able to successfully transfer data and settings from a 2018 S9 to a new S25. I had to use the cable (Wireless wouldn't take) and finesse some cable placement after fully charging each phone, but it did work eventually.
What's this... This is my new phone and tell me why there is only one option.... And that is to share your data to old device... Where are the options to receive and send... Now I'm stuck and can't send nor receive because both deuce have the same options
I switch from my s22 to s25 ultra, but I have a concern it successfully transfers data and apps but not Google accounts ,social media accounts, or other apps account which was logined in to my previous phone . please fix this like everything is cloned to the new phone.
3 days doing it over and over again. Transfer from Note 10+ (which has plenty of life in it, but suddenly it became painfully slow, just suddenly) to S24 Ultra reaches 32.2% and NO more. I'm soo disappointed with Samsung, it's unreal. Slight clarification, the duration of the 3 days was all day. Than I left the phones overnight, on charge, next to each one. Both phone are flagships, none of them came for free. I.e. solid money were paid for them. So yep, the disappointment is big.
