Broken. The feed loads fine but if I click on a headine to open and read a story it often closes the app (or sends it to the background). Android 12. I've force quit, cleared cache and data, uninstalled and reinstalled, then rebooted and still the same problem. Used to work great until maybe a month ago. I'd rate it 5 stars if it weren't broken. I like that it requires no permissions.

The live broadcast keeps crashing. It will play for a few seconds then stops and goes back to the general app. Checked all the possible issues and download is fine, software up to date , all permissions granted. Disappointed really love Scripps news station. Gonna have to delete the app...will come back to it and check to see if anything has been fixed. Right now it's literally just taking up space I could use for something else.

The average rating is misleading as it appears to be based on some older versions of the app. It's short on customizations but it's actually a stable, very clean app that appears to work like it's supposed to. And you really can't beat Scripps for neutrality. Would like to see a future option to set a location for localized news. Also an ability to tailor notifications to specific news categories.

Newsy is normally a good informative source of news, but I'm forced to give it a 2 star rating because lately it is failing to autoplay properly. It doesn't flow smoothly from item to item... It hangs like its waiting for something. I'm forced to go into settings and force close the app and then reopen it to get it to continue. Please fix this and I'll up my rating to the 5 it deserves to have under normal circumstances..

At first I thought this app didn't work with Chromecast but I realize now the Chromecast icon will show up AFTER commencing playback of an article. I'm very happy to see that, even as a video app, it connects to all my Chromecast Audio devices too which is excellent for listening to Newsy throughout the house. The continuous play doesn't work though so I'm knocking off two stars. Solid news without the gimmicky theatrics and ugly biases makes this a winner.

Only works half the time. Crashes a lot on Android. Update: Reinstalling only improved stability temporarily. Also, if you select several articles one after the other, the advertisements play on top of each other which is annoying.

Only one thing wrong. You open an article and start reading without the sound and when the video ends it jumps to the next article before you finish. You have to continuously pause the videos before you start reading.

This app, even upon first installation, states its an older version and to check for an update (this isn't one I can find). After installation, while playing a video, will time itself out and phone goes black. There needs to be an update for this to work correctly. Big fan of Newsy, not so much for this app.

Sadly, I no longer use the mobile app. On my phone, I prefer to READ my news, not watch it. This has just video content. Please hire some writers in addition to anchors. I like the video content on my Roku. Great content though.

After install it said it was for an older android. It starts up but won't play anything selected just a blank screen and gets stuck there, have to force close it. Looks like Newsy app needs to be updated to catch up to the newer version android. Best to stay with an news app that has an active developer. No sense keeping it installed. It was last updated 4 years ago. What a shame.

I love the content on newsy, wish there was more variety in global issues though. I also experience technical difficulty far more than I'd like and the app shuts down on my Android phone frequently. It has fewer issues on my Roku and on my iPad though.

Needs a lot of work. The only customization settings are for notifications. No dark mode, no way to dismiss or exclude certain news categories. Within one minute of install, the app crashed while performing a search. Installed on an S21 Ultra. Uninstalled.

The app itself isn't 100% bad, but casting to my TV from the app rarely works and it's frustrated me to the point where I may just uninstall it. The share button also doesn't use Android's built in share function where you could share to anywhere, it only can share to Facebook, Twitter, and Email.

Doesnt work on Note 5. You can open the app and see the list of news stories, but if you click on one it takes you to a blank black screen the app hangs in limbo for a few minutes before Android asks you to Wait or Close App. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling without success.

Trustworthy source, but app needs to be updated. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 with an up-to-date software version. This app is not compatible... very "moody"... i.e. sometimes it works, other times it freezes. ALL my other apps work fine.

I SO appreciate news without overt bias! Newsy is very well done, offers text and video news options (I prefer reading text) and any ads are not intrusive/persistent. Not commenting on the app so much as the TV version of Newsy, I love that so many correspondents are people of color.

Great content.....if you can access it. The video is slow to load or doesn't load at all. It's great on TV and your desk top, my favorite place for news. Wish the app was reflective of the quality of the content.

Ever since they switched from Newsy to Script, I've had nothing but problems. It won't load or the app just closes whenever I click on a video. I used to love this app, but now I'm about to delete it.

Who are the ppl that gave this app a 5 star rating? Must be the app designers family. Too many errors and app sets down. Not able to live stream news more that 1 minute. Error codes say try to update but update is not available. I wonder how many bad reviews or subscribers they will lose before they fix the app.

Just like everyone says here, the app keeps crashing and is completely useless. I've got a new S21 with updated software and this app just can't keep up. Had it loaded for 5 minutes and already uninstalled it. Total waste of my time.
