It works sometimes. It can take some time to get a clear shot of the large QR code, and even then it might not read correctly. The app could be improved by continuing to scan until a valid code is read. Also, an internet connection is required. This could also be improved by caching the public root key certificates for offline verification.
Location services error still comes up in v1.0.27. It works on initial install but once you shutdown the app and try to open it a second time, the error returns. The only way to fix it is by uninstalling and reinstalling it again. Hardly a practical solution for a business setting with customers having to wait while the app is being installed...
Location access error keeps displaying. Only way for me to clear this is by uninstalling then reinstalling the app. My phone settings show that location permission has not been requested or denied. This will be troublesome to use for business if issue isn't fixed. But on the other hand, when it works, it's good. Information comes through as needed.
Sort of works. It scans and says verified but it is only showing my last two boosters. I've been unable to everify my vaccines for travel even though they specify smarthealth. I suspect it has something to do with this. When I pull up my smart card record on my phone all four are there. It's a bit of a hassle to not just be able to everify.
UPDATE: 10/27/2021: App is not working. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times now. It will work once or twice, then stop working. In addition, it will not store the verification and keeps asking to rescan the printed QR code. 3 strikes and you're out! UPDATE: 09/23/2021: App is now working. Apparently, there was a glitch on the other end. I waited a day, and went back in one more time. Today the connection is working. I upgraded the rating from one star to three (2). Two points off for not receiving any help from the program/programmer. 09/22/2021: I have installed and reinstalled this app. It does not work on my Android phone. I keep getting a "No internet connection" error message, even though I have a a FULL and STRONG wireless internet connection. I can access any web site on Google Chrome and all other installed applications. Additional information: My phone is a Motorola G-5 plus. I tested the app while standing 2 feet away from my Xfinity X1 modem/router, and again several feet farther away. I have researched HELP for this issue, but have been completely unable to resolve the problem.
It's inconsistent - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The "Partially Verified" heading of result will be taken immediately by other countries. It would be better if you remove that heading and put the issuer instead of unidentified issuer even if they have not registered with CommonTrust Network Registry.
Yeah it works. Just asked for camera. Scanned my record and verified easily. Thank you for fixing it *Old review* It keeps giving me a Give the app location permission, but since it didn't show up in the LOCATIONS list, and didn't appear to ask for permission, I can't give it permission. I've reinstalled several times, reboot etc. It is a broken app. Uninstalled. Just going to have to trust the print data.
The app will not work now at all. Want location but location is on. Go Ontario government go! They didn't want it in the first place so make it a useless app no one can use. When it did work it would verify but add the credentials nor user could be verified. Not confusing for the user of the app at all. Delete!
Update: their customer service quickly updated the geolocation fix to last beyond the first run and now the app no longer requires re-installation to work again but I did notice that it needs a data connection for each scan, presumably to download the public keys of the verifier authorities which should rarely change. I believe it would be better to cache the public keys, updating when possible perhaps with a button to update the public keys but the app should be allowed to work off the pubic key cache if no data link is available. Various government provided verifier apps such as the Alberta app does this (rather they have their own public key hardwired in) and using the stored public keys during scans would avoid overwhelming the server during peak usage. Allowing the verifier app to work without a data link would also help assure the public that these codes are not being used to track them. Note, I'm also a cheap bastard that doesn't have a mobile data contract except as an addon and there are many situations where a public WiFi isn't accessible.
"Verification" depends on "unverified" human input by clerks/nurses/etc when they get around to it (with MyChart system at least). UPDATE for Fix: LG7 - Updated app to 10/31/2021 version. LG8 - Cleared app cache for "Verifier" (really could use a bit more descriptive name for searching long apps list!). Restarted both, and now both work! PAST ISSUE: Getting "no internet", but other apps have no such issue (such as this session on Play Store). On LG G8X ThinQ just updated to Android 11. On LG G7 AndroidOne on Android 11 it gets no location access while other apps do.
I couldn't use it in any device I tried because it kept asking for location permissions to be enabled. There was no customer service contact either to discuss this. I kept debugging and found a work around. Go to app settings and permissions and disable the "remove permissions when app isnt used".
UPDATE: App has been updated and it no longer requests location services permission. My only gripe is that the person's name is displayed in such small font that it would be tedious to read if you were checking a large number of people. Doesn't work on Pixel with Android 12 because it can't get location permission and there's no way to grant it.
So I have now had 2 people with IPHONE 11 for whom this app has NOT WORKED. THEY ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE THIS FOR THEIR JOB. I get that you guys are doing this out of the goodness of your heart. Not all of us understand that Apple is evil. But, frustrating that I now have 2 people on my periphery who have iPhones, who need the app to cooperate, as bartenders in CA, who can't get it to work for them. I have contacted your customer support email, to no avail... Please help! Thanks!!
Update 2: The prior but I reported in my last update is fixed, but doses are not displayed in the correct order. This could confuse someone who is verifying the vaccination status. Updated: stopped working. Now it complains that it can't use the location services, but according to the phone, it has neither requested nor been denied location access. It shouldn't need it. And there's no way to add the permissions for it. Original review: Works great with Virginia-issued SMART QR vaccine records. I suspect it won't work with non SMART compatible QR codes.
Works well for scanning codes with the camera. One big missing feature, imo, is the ability to scan a picture already on your phone, downloaded, etc. If I only have my phone for reviewing documents, I can't point the camera at itself. Thanks
Used to work OK, but now says there's a location permissions problem. The app never requests location permission and thus can't be granted. And of course no location should be needed. Also seems to require internet for each scan, but it should be able to verify qr codes signed by cached signers without internet access.
Updated Nov 4 - congrats to devs! Location permission issue is resolved! Up to 4 stars. Nice that it will read a code it does not have a certificate for, and present with a warning, rather than just fail. It would be helpful if the app listed the currently supported signing certs, so that users can know ahead of time what locales are supported.
Very poor install. No button or any interaction on first open. Force closing and reopening app will give you a button to scan. Incorrectly hangs on "no internet connection" despite Wi-Fi or cell data both available more often than it works. Unusable and unreliable at this time.
Works well, but it seems that the issuer URL is no longer shown when the issuer is not recognized. (I tested this using the sample card on the spec.smarthealth.cards website.) I believe this feature should be restored, for the simple reason that it is part of the description on your website and also that this lets people decide whether they want to trust an issuer that the app does not recognize.
I have downloaded this app several times. Each time I open it, it gives me the Welcome screen, but it is completely locked. I can't scroll, or do anything. There is no way for me to create an account because the welcome screen is stuck firmly in place. Uninstall, reinstall, try again, same result.
