Smule: Karaoke, Sing & Record

Fun app -- if it works properly. The output sounded like hash, and it didn't even record my voice -- just the video and the music. Not my phone, as the sound on my video camera was very clear. I would continue using this, but only if there is a fix to the sound, or a workaround to make it work. Otherwise, I won't be renewing when my subscription is up.

opened up smile after 9 years and thr majority of the app you have to pay for to even do things. I wanted to go back to my recordings and listen to them but they don't have any sound. they also took messaging away??? I loved being able to talk to someone I dueted with. Will be deleting the app and my profile. ridiculous. edit: it used to not cost anything. What a scam. Stupid robot reply too.

The new update is great! It tells you what your highest note was, and your overall vocal range. I've been working on my lower registry, so I was quite happy to find out that I fell into those lower registries that I wanted. The app is easy to use and you can sing with people from around the world. There are also different styles of your favorite songs; so instead of singing the studio version, you can look for acoustic, piano or even a remix. Really fun! and the app doesn't crash at all.

I'll leave a 2 star review to be generous, it sucks that you have to pay for something that should be free, and by that I mean the user should have control over what they want to sing, and the app doesn't allow me into it after a single song recording, even though I live in a place with great internet. Just infinite load screens. Another gripe i have is how do duets even really work, when there's only one lead? Might as well just practice alone. For the rich, great app though.

The variety of songs and the quality is amazing! But It's definitely not worth the VIP. It's genuinely so expensive for only a week! You could only sing duets for free everything else has to be with a VIP account. (except if you get the free songs but those are extremely limited) furthermore, after a couple of days of using this app my recordings seem to lag behind the actual audio! Most of the other reviews agree. If they fix those two problems then this would be five stars for me.

When I'm using this app, it allows me to sing perfectly fine. But, after the recording is finished, my voice sounds distorted, like a robot or something and it's upsetting for many reasons. Also, when I first joined the app, you could sing solo/make a duet by watching some ads, yet you guys have taken that away. Some people don't like having to sing with other people, so they wanna do solo and stuff, while others, including me, think it'd be cool to make a duet again WITHOUT having V.I.P.

I've had this app for years and recently it hasn't been loading songs or letting me record at all. If does decide to let me record it kicks me out during the middle of the and deletes the recording. What happened??? Until y'all fix this issue my rating isn't gonna change. Update: Its began working again for a while but now it's not loading again. Y'all really need to fix the issue.

This app is limited to doing covers...after all this is a karaoke platform. Though it doesn't give an artist room to showcase an entire range of musical ability (those using instruments, there's not even an option), a person can generate a following by doing songs that reflect one's gift. There's also groups, in the fashion social media has them, to get to interact with others. Sign up isn't required but there's not much a person can do without signing up.

I love this app. I've made some great memories. 2+ years now. But the last dozen times I've tried to start a don't others can join, the timing on the recording always either speed up or slows down near the end of the recording. And manually changing the timing doesn't help at all. Please fix. This is the main reason I haven't used the app much, of late.

Nice app, but can you please, please PLEASE find a way to sync the sounds and videos better?! It's so annoying to have to continuously repeat a song because the vocals won't sync, especially if it was done with video. Come on! Edit - it's free to join someone else's duet, but you can't post it unless you pay. What sense does that make? Please do better.

The VIP pricing is ridiculous. I used to have a smule subscription that cost $4.99 a month. now, its $9.99 for a week...A WEEK!!! That's more expensive than a monthly subscriptuon to most steaming services! A monthly subscription? $19.99 more than a premium monthly Netflix subscription. Yes, you can do it for free if you do duets and things, but paying that much for a karaoke app that isn't even karaoke! Half the songs still have vocals over top! It's ridiculous.

My experience in the past with this app was so desirable. I love being able to retry a challenging part in a song without having to start over. But this new update sucks. I also liked hearing myself sing while I'm recording like in past versions of the app. Now it just sucks... also what happened to the option where you could change how loud the backing vocals are? If there's an option to hear yourself while you sing I think that would be cool. Also to save your progress.

Neat idea, but lags so bad! Adjusting the vocals to match the tempo of the music is a huge pain and doesnt work as it should. Sometimes the pacing between the song and the moving graphic is off and it's extremely distracting. Dont worry though, even if you sing right in tune and tempo with the music, you'll still be recorded 2 seconds late, causing you to fuss with settings for 10 minutes before giving up altogether. Ugh.

I'm really happy that this app changed and gives non-members a chance to actually sing. The system before was broken, and made it virtually impossible to sing without spending money. The app is easy to navigate, and it's a lot of fun singing duets with others. I love the features, but one improvement I'd like to add is the option to re-do a part you messed up on after you're finished recording a song. That'd be amazing. I'd also love to be able to save songs as drafts. Thank you for this app. :D

Really fun app. I use the Android version, have been a paid subscriber for about 3 years now. The app is also available for free, so if you're not sure you want a subscription try it free first. Just be aware that with the free app, you can only sing duets with other people; you can't sing solos. When I first started smule I had to fix my phone's settings, as my vocals were off sync a bit, but I haven't had a problem since then and have enjoyed singing with people from all over the world.

Great app with a lot of songs and tons of other singers to sing with! Not every song I want, but most of them. Also, have trouble sometimes uploading my recordings, where they do not upload at all because of errors (only a couple times) or they are pending upload and it's stuck that way and I can't access the recording at all, even to delete it.

This karaoke app used to be fun. it started at 2.99 /week ( might have been 1.99) and i think it was 4.99 /month then it went up tp 4.99 / week 7.99 month. Then went up again for 9.99 / month. It's getting ridiculous! 9.99 /week and 19.99 / month. When do you stop keep raising the subscription? I am done , so are my friends that used this app. Not coming back. I'll just buy a karaoke machine at home for $200 and it's mine. I can even download the songs I want.

It is fun, but since the last update, everytime I record my singing, when I listen to it at the end, it sounds like it was rushed. It makes it hard for me to want to finalize the songs I sing at all and makes me end up giving up on most of them. UPDATE 8/11: They changed the purchasing methods now, instead of 10$ per month, it is 10$ per WEEK now and 20$ per month, which is too expensive for such a small amount. Won't be using for a long time now.

Unless you pay for the subscription, you can't record solo.. which was disappointing. The voice back to headphone setting didn't work for me, and in the "help" option it tells you how to delete your account in settings, but the option to delete was no where to be found. Was a disappointment:( because the suggested music was accurate and the vocal settings were cool.

An awesome way to pass the time when you're alone, or with friend's. I wanted to use MY voice as a therapeutic, not just, recreational way to pass my time. That being said, the one clear negative is definitely the exorbitant price, of $ 9.99 /week. I mean, that's a couple of buck's cheaper than, my unlimited data plan. STILL, I love this app, regardless.
