Connection between phone and camera is terrible. Every time I want to download pictures from my Coolpix B500 I have to be standing in just the right spot at the right time. The app doesn't seem to remember how to connect to my camera every time I use it, rendering any of the options to download or connect unavailable, forcing me to disconnect and start over. Wifis fine and works great otherwise so thats not my issue. Even when I use NFC it's spotty and the camera is in perfect condition.

I was really hoping this would work better. I wanted to use it for iNaturalist photos, but the location data doesn't show up at all, or shows up as the location I'm in when the photos transfer over from the camera, which is not useful when I return home and they all transfer over. It feels like something that would have really wowed me in 2015, but disappointing currently

Still a terrible app 10 years later. IF you can establish an initial connection, you still have to overcome the app being basically unusable. I connected via Bluetooth but Wi-Fi wouldn't connect, that eliminates remote operation. Photos don't transfer to a device, and if they do you are one of the lucky users. This is easily the worst first party app from a main manufacturer. It's almost not worth putting Wi-Fi or Bluetooth as a feature on Nikon cameras because you'll never be able to use it.

I've had Nikon cameras for at least 15 years. The poor quality of this app is one of the only things that's tempted me to switch brand. What do you mean in 2025 with a Z8 that costs thousands of dollars that the WiFi connection is still abhorrently slow to connect and painful to use? Transferring photos to my phone should be seamless by now. To make matters worse, it can't even zoom in all the way on full resolution images so you can check the focus.

Finally seems to work. i fought and fought this app in the past. after struggling to get it to connect, it wouldn't reconnect a second time without more struggles. Now, after updating the app and more importantly, the firmware to 1.10 made all the difference, connects perfectly, everytime, without any hassles. update, now its back to NOT working

For the most part the application works well enough. I have a Z6iii, and it let's me use the remote camera feature well. It will sync with the camera over Wi-Fi easily as well. Where it seems to do poorly is Bluetooth. Since it uses Bluetooth Low Energy, it doesn't consistently connect and send photos, do the firmware update or even the remote camera features. When it works, it's great and allows me to quickly and easily upload photos to my phone or control the camera. Otherwise, frustration.

I use this app to geotag my photos and take long exposure photos. The app works fairly well in Bluetooth mode, and is nearly unusable in WiFi mode. After installing this app, it seems like my phone's location is in use 24/7 even if the camera is off. That said, geotagging works for the most part. As for remote photography: Bluetooth mode works fairly well. It does take ~5-20 seconds and will sometimes fail to connect or kick you out once connected, but works with minimal delay when connected.

It’s really a good app, everything works great, it loads photos, you can download them too. There are only a couple of disadvantages that I would like to list: 1. Photo quality deteriorates. if I want to download a photo at 1080, it gives me a maximum of 720 :( 2. sometimes it is buggy, and can even throw out photos/videos when installing, I would like it not to be thrown out, and there would be no need to reinstall them 2-3 times

Very unreliable and slow. Nothing beats good old-fashioned hardware controllers. Fortunately, there are many cheap ones out there that do a MUCH better job than this. Putting aside the fact that you won't be able to connect via wifi if you use VPN, and without it, it still has trouble connecting and is slow doing so. Then, it has a bad habit of disconnecting. Do yourself a favor and buy a hardware controller. Wired is better, but the ML-L7 or similar remotes work well.

This app is completely useless. It has worked quite literally once or twice over the past few years. I recently tried to use it again because I'm traveling and can't charge my laptop to transfer and edit photos. It uses BT to enable WiFi for some dumb reason instead of manually enabling it in the menu. You also can not transfer RAW files, so you're stuck shooting in jpeg if you want to use this feature. That would be okay if it would ACTUALLY work. I don't know how this app has 4.2 ☆'s.

When I first downloaded it, it was pretty bad, but it did work. As of today, it seems totally broken. I have spent an hour and a half trying to make it connect. I've tried turning everything off and back on again, closing the app, force closing the app, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, clearing caches, following the website support, trying it in different ways, watching YouTube tutorials, resetting the settings on the phone and camera. It's pointless. App doesn't work.

#1: You can download a HEIF (.HIF) image, but you can't view it in the app after you download it. #2: Good thing photography is not about "capturing the moment" (sarcasm), because every time you need to switch cameras or use WiFi, you are looking at 15-30 seconds to switch. #3: I guess I must be unusually fortunate or have an unusual degree of patience, because many Nikon owners just give up on getting the app to work for them.

Its decent. I mean the only thing I use it for is the remote feature, but I got the D3500 and I dont know if it's just with this camera, but the Live View doesn't work. But the biggest problem I have is the uninvolvment of a running lock or like an intravalometer, for the more experienced photographers. I hope you can fix this or give me a solution to my problem because maybe I am just missing something.

I rarely give out single stars. Never have I had an app of such very basic function be so entirely unusable that has also come from such an almost cost-prohibitive line of products. Absolutely nothing works, but go read the help section to find out why this >thousand dollar piece of modern tech won't establish any connections or to simply download photos or snap shots. You'd think they'd have the budget to iron this stuff out? If I wanted a good tease for my money, I'd just go to a strip club!

This app is a nightmare to use!!! Which is infuriating because the camera itself is so expensive, you're not even getting what you've paid for- which is the convenience of having your photos automatically downloaded into your phone even while the camera is off. Like everyone else, I've tried everything and just have photos piling up in my camera with nowhere to go. So disappointing and just takes the joy out of photography to deal with stuff like this. FIX THIS NOW PLEASE!!

Well I use to have no issue with this app until just recently. I did a photoshoot and loaded my pictures into my phone and there's a light green line through the bottom of all the pictures. I thought maybe it was my camera but it only happens once I hit download pictures. That never happened before. Not sure if maybe he recent update did something but I have to admit I am a little disappointed because I really liked snapbridge. If I'm not the only one complaining about this I hope the issue get resolved soon.

Update (4/2022): The app's reliability seems to have improved quite a bit. My D5600 can still be buggy with connection at times, but my Z6 II connects quickly. This leads me to think this is more about the camera capabilities than this app. Adding a star. I like being able to automatically load lower resolution files to my phone for quick edits and sharing. The little I've played with remote controls, they seem basic but as good or better than a basic shutter remote.

Nikon definitely has some work to do on this app! Bought a new camera specifically for snapbridge benefits and I am very dissatisfied. I'm lucky if I can get the phone and camera to pair once in 5-7 times. Have to uninstall and reinstall the app, "forget" the camera on my phone and disable every single time. Once they are paired I can't upload photos unless I attempted several times. I'd say once for every 10 times I use the app it works the way it should. It DOES NOT SHARE PHOTOS INSTANTLY like it's supposed to, not once have I had that work . Great concept but it does NOT work as advertised!!! But here I am, stuck with it!

This app is the worst way to transfer photos from your Nikon to your phone. Constant syncing issues, as well as failing to download photos once the camera finally connects. Some days it works but most of the time it doesn't. I use my camera mostly for social media marketing. If this is the best Nikon can do when other manufacturers have faster and more reliable smartphone syncing, I may need to switch. Terrible.

Though I like having a relatively quick way to transfer photos to my phone, connectivity issues regularly occur, requiring restarting the app. I try to keep batch downloads to a dozen pics in original size mode. I haven't used the cloud backup, but it's nice to have another option to keep photos safe. Edit* This app is almost unusable at times. It refuses to connect with the camera and trying to batch download enevitably results in a disconnect error after a half dozen photos.
