Using the app with the ULT Field 5. App is good & easy to use. I find the app's "Autostandy" & "Bluetooth Standby" modes not be what I was expecting. "Autostandy" turns the speaker off (including lights) after 15mins of non-operation. Even with "Bluetooth Standby" enabled, the speaker doesn't automatically wake if you start playing music on your phone which is odd. App and/or firmware need updating so the speaker goes into sleep mode (including lights off if on) & wakes when you play music.

Update: still annoying about speech recognition. Does it all the time even though it's off. I've signed in to save and still doesnt. Almost makes headphones unusable. Honestly seems like a solid app except it never saves my settings. It constantly tries to enable the speech feature when I continually turn it off. Super frustrating when you're at the gym or anywhere where there's any sound. For all this technology, you think you'd be able to save a setting.

I love my Sony headphones, but this app is quite buggy. I typically have two devices hooked up to the headphones at a time, and when I lock the mic/speakers to one of the devices, it will switch to the other one automatically if there is a notification and will not return to the one I "locked" the headphones to. It also won't let me switch back manually, as it says it cannot switch devices during a call, even though it just did. Very frustrating when a really good feature doesn't work at all!

The app is generally fine. Does everything it should. It also has the bloat you've come to expect from these kinds of apps. Why would I care about an achievement for listening with my earbuds? What marketing intern came up with that slam dunk? I wish I could opt out of like half the app. It's been so much easier to use. There's so much going on that it makes it hard to sift through the noise.

Nice idea; I love the idea of settings synced to my Sony account and usage statistics recorded and saved by the app (also cloud synced). However, the login token expires way too quickly; I have to sign in and then manually synchronize my settings basically every time I use the app. This annoyance makes the app cumbersome and disappointing instead of useful. Even apps with my payment info (e.g. Amazon) save login tokens for a year or longer, so there's no reason it needs to expire so fast here.

This application offers a lot of customisation, but it can be confusing, as many settings are not very obvious to find. On a positive note, once everything is set up, I very rarely have to go into it. I think it is a feature-rich app that works well for me. The account sign-up is for the settings backup and restore. If you have to reset and restore your device, you can opt out of marketing, etc., though you still have to dig around the settings. Overall, it is good but needs decluttering.

I really enjoyed this app when I first downloaded it when I got my headphones on June 12 of 2025. Unfortunately the app started bugging out since December, it wouldn't let me use the app at all constantly sending me to a "troubleshoot" option, saying it failed to connect with my headphones when my headphones were well connected. There doesn't seem to be an inference with the connection when connecting to my phone so I'm confused at the inability to connect to the app. Can't wait for a solution!

Not the worst interface but I hate that speak-to-chat keeps turning on when I don't want it to. I have a profile, I've assigned it as a never sleep app (I know that uses more battery), but I have it auto launch the app when I connect the headphones. but it will still turn on every month or so. so annoying. i don't want ai. i don't want to hear my own voice through the headphones speakers.

wish I didn't have to use this. the shortcuts aren't configurable so I only have access to shortcuts for apps I don't need, want, or use. headphones will turn speak to chat on by themselves. I don't ever ever ever want it on. takes 10 minutes to dig through the settings to find how to turn it off. hit or miss whether it actually will.

It used to be great.... but now voice recognition AUTOMATICALLY pauses any audio I'm listening to, forcing me to listen to whoever is talking. There used to be an option to cancel that so the voices wouldn't interrupt the audio I'm listening to. But I guess they got rid of that optional setting. Now the "Ambient Sound Control" is set permanently to "AUTO" and I can't do anything about turning it off. Now it let's ANY vocal audio pass through and interrupt what audio I'm listening to.

Updates are forces and so are new "features" that completely ruin the headphones. In a recent update they added a "feature" to pause music when the headphones hear someone talking near you but it also trips up from music on nearby radios. So it's a near constant pause/start experience especially if you're crowded environment. You have to dig through like three menus to disable it though. Another thing is the app simply refuses to connect half the time. My BT is connected but the app is dumb.

I found a bug, but that's not the only reason I'm rating it 1 star. Here's the bug: When I select "Notification & Voice Guide: OFF" in the app, my expensive headphones will still alert me WITH VOICE that "Bluetooth Disconnected" or "Bluetooth Connected" or "Low Battery", which shouldn't happen, because I've turned that off, so it's a bug. The other reasons for 1 star are: I've turned off so many features that make the headphones a poor experience when they are on: Touch, 2 Devices, Auto-pause...

I'm pretty savvy with music and apps. I have the 1000XM4 earbuds. They have worked really well until this app changed last year. Suddenly, my right earbud drains battery from full to "dead" in approx 10 minutes. The left one works as it always has. I cannot figure out why. I've done a reset, re-installed the app and can't fix it. These earbuds were expensive.

I have been a long time Sony headphone user. This is my first pair of Sony Bluetooth headphones. These are horrible. I cannot find a way to keep them from constantly turning themselves off. They do not seem to stay paired with my phone or my PC. The app is clunky and lacks necessary features. I was also annoyed that there is not an app for PC. I shouldn't have to control the headphones that are paired to my PC with my phone. I'm constantly having to reconnect them during Zoom calls. Please fix.

Needed to install for new Sony headphones. Real mess! Installed it 3 times & it would not work; could not connect. In fact it would lock up, only way to get out was to kill the program. Got me wondering so disconnected all other Bluetooth using devices. That was the problem! App is not smart enough to recognize other Bluetooth users and at least warn you. It simply hangs! Too many apps seem to think they are the only one running on your device.

Just spend over $350 on Sony earbuds? Well, welcome to hell! This is the most useless app I've ever been forced to use. The fact you can't check charging status while the case is actively charging will never stop astounding me. There's virtually no utility to it at all, if you don't have at least one bud in your ear. Aside from it's "discover" tab, where you can purchase any number of equally infuriating items! If trying to troubleshoot a charging issue, give up! No help here whatsoever. Cheers!

Number one reason to buy non-sony headphones. This app actually screwed up charging on my earbuds after it did an update, somehow. Didn't expect that to be an issue I could run into, leave it to Sony to figure out how to do that. Also, what's with all the name changes? "Headphones" was already bad enough, now it's not even clear that's what this app does. The app does technically work though. If you're looking for super basic settings for your headphones, you might find them here.

This app is both useless and the heaviest battery drain on my buds. Drained them from 100 to 0 in a matter of about 10 minutes. I recharged them, uninstalled the app, and they went back to normal consumption. The app is undeniably the problem. Also the only function that seemed to actually work was the noise cancellation, which is...not very useful at all. Sony, you continue to suck harder and harder every year.

I don't want anything from this app, except one feature: To leave the stupid -- I'm trying so hard not to swear here, but go crazy imagining what I really want to say -- noise cancelling feature off. For some reason, it doesn't remember your setting in the app. So I have to turn it off manually each time I use my headphones, or use the unreliable adaptive noise cancelling setting, which is always going on and off. Just let me turn it off!!!!! It's like double the battery life!!!

Pretty good. Would be nice if there was a "LOCK" function so you can't accidentally touch the earbuds and pause the device or change the sound control status. For instance, if I'm laying in the bed with earbuds on, they might touch the pillow and pause the track. Or they might change from NC to Ambient sound over and over again. A Lock function would be a great addition.
