Spectrum News: Local Stories

Well, I am not a very computer Savi. Person I don't like computers. I don't like new technology because I don't know enough of it. And I'm afraid I'm going to do something really bad to the information that's being given to me anyway. With spectrum, I was having problems setting up my rotor and Wi-Fi, and I called spectrum and then they had an expert technician on the phone, guiding me. Step-by-step patiently clearly explaining how to get set everything up. The man deserves props!!

The Spectrum News app content has been excellent. I have had problems with accessing the app for 2 days. I have done everything recommended and it still is not working. I keep getting ERROR messages.

Version 2.42 through 2.45 blocks overlays and does not have this permission to do so. I enabled/disabled the picture in picture setting but it didn't change this condition. Please update app to permit overlays. It also appears Google is indifferent to my complaint too.

It's decent for national headline news. I was hoping for more local news. There is no section for local, and just a few local headlines on the main page.

it was my first time watching the app on my cell phone. I found it great, will watch again , I was more interested what the weather forecast is going to be. Didn't want to sit on the bed to watch the TV.

The old app was so good for weather. Why change it? This new app is not weather oriented, cannot save overlays, and it also will not allow the user to take a screen shot of the radar map due to the security policy! Why is this important? My family and I have to communicate a lot about weather conditions between one of us being inland and another on the water. I could always rely on capturing and sharing those accurate images and have a record. Going to find a more user friendly app for weather.

The new weather map is horrible. It takes several clicks and then dragging to get to the map to open it. Once in motion, it automatically goes three hours in the future; no way to change that. Clicking to freeze motion does not freeze at current time; it requires jogging back and forth and still won't stop on current time. The worst part is there is no way to save overlays. They have to be selected again each time the map is opened. I downloaded this for the weather map...I'm deleting it.

The "new" app is hard to navigate, locks up frequently, and usually doesn't load properly. Links are often not working properly, and the weather information, in particular, is lacking. It no long provides wind information (or if it does, it is very well hidden), and over half the time weather radar just doesn't work. When it does, it also lacks features available in the "old" app. Pleas take these issues seriously and provide a better functioning app. Until then, I just can't use the app.

Very well designed app. It is clean, sharp looking and organized well. I read a previous reviewers review and he mentioned not being able to log in as a spectrum subscriber. In the opening screens when you first install the app I noticed that I couldn't log in either. Once in the app tap on the outline of a person in the top left. In there you can choose to sign in, it worked for me.

Lately, I haven't been able to access the news. I will receive a headIine story pop up, on my screen, but when I try to open it up, it takes me to a sign in screen for unlimited access. The bar to touch to access the sign in feature does absolutely nothing, but flicker a little when touched. I have uninstalled, and reinstalled the app several times, with no success. I give up. This app is completely useless now!

Why?! Ugh! You ruined a perfectly good app that Im sure many people depend on. In my case my husband works outside doing dangerous work and I need to quickly be able to look at a decent radar weather map. This new apps weather map doesnt save my overlay preferences and is extremely pixelated and not easy to look at. Just in time for rainy season thanks.

I am writing because I miss the old version of your app. I don't find the wind speed that was available in the old one or the pollen counts readily available. This would be a great new update!!! Please consider! : ) I also would prefer the choice to receive the critical wearher and local updates ONLY and not just the morning and evening texts of news. Thanks for asking for input!!

It's a great app for accurate weather,.... when the damn app works. I work outside, it's very important to know when exactly it's going to rain. When I need to find out the weather, it's really like flipping a coin, if I win the toss and the damn app works, it's pretty accurate. If I lose the coin toss, well then it just sucks for me at that time. I would really say, it's 50/50

So far so good. No crashes. Wish I could "cast" with it to my roku and that it handled Android 6.x. Update: I'm getting some crashes now streaming live (and I forgot to mention how great that is, especially all news rather than just local). Sound is tinny and it just stops sometimes with no error message. Added 8/23. Last update broke it. Can't see live TV anymore. Not rooted. On spectrum cable so I don't know why it doesn't like my phone.

Before Spectrum bought out Bright House, this weather service was THE best, most accurate one out there for our area. Now it's less accurate than Weather Channel. I still use the app for the Klystron 9 and some news, but I never use their weather predictions anymore. They're not very accurate. I'm saddened because now our Bay Area is less good in this field than the national weather services, when we used to be among the best.

A massive downgrade in usability from the Bay News 9 app that is being phased out. Checking the weather radar requires more steps and when you play the time lapse there is no way to get back to the current state. Reading an article requires signing in but you can't actually do that (not is it clear what credentials to use). Update (10-20-2020): free trial ended and there's still no way to sign in with my Spectrum account.

Not an improvement. I mostly only used the weather portion of the old app. I don't like the new app's weather portion as I don't see how to default to the weather upon opening and the weather settings do not save. I keep changing it to satellite and lightning strikes, but as soon as I close the app, it goes right back to the original settings. Please fix this!

If it would save my login information more than a day it would be a lot more usable. What is more frustrating is that once it logs me out the sign in for unlimited access button does nothing. The only way to get back in is to clear the application cache and kill the application. This is on a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra if anyone reads this and can possibly fix the login issue. I am also on the current release. Performed all the obvious troubleshooting like uninstall reinstall /permissions
