generally quite easy to use but one huge gripe for me is the lack of showing a pending balance. I don't actually know what the balance that is showing on the screen is, when I have a list of pending items to be paid. I believe that the balance hasn't included the pending items but that's not helpful at all. I need to know how much money I will have left now, not after the payments have gone out, please! Thank you :-)

Good app, terrible bank. Froze my account after putting six month of savings aside. It took a week to get customer service to say why. Claims to be an app only bank but I can not resolve my issue inside the app. I'm not sure I'll get access to my money again. Update. After over a month of dealing with customer service they decide to just close my account. Thankfully they are sending me a check and not keeping my money.

I started using Starling about a year ago and its been a great experience. Its easy to navigate. I like that there are no monthly fees. Its sustainable online banking, and I love that when I get paid I can see pending transactions not just for money going out but also money coming in. Customer support is also pretty good. Everytime I had any problem, they were really helpful and responsive.

I've been with Starling for a few years, and to be fair it's been a pleasant experience. However, for no apparent reason I've been declined a savings account with a 4.0% interest rate. For that reason, I'm moving all of my banking and savings to Monzo who offer 4.12% and set up the savings account within minutes. They also provide the 'Roundup' savings feature, and do cashback. There's no point in remaining loyal with Starling if there is no reward for it.

I've used Starling for a fair few years and I can't fault them. The Spaces has proven to be a great addition and the Kite Space has been a lifesaver for my teenage son. 1 more year and he will be upgrading to a teen account. Great job! Also used my Starling when I went away to Venice and with no fees added and instant conversion rates per transaction it was really useful to keep track.

Rating downgrade from 5 to 2. Went from a really great service to something that has started making some bad product decisions. No longer paying interest on the account. You need a seperate savings account now, but they haven't got automated transfers for that. Gone from super simple to actually super annoying.

I've had accounts with Barclays, NatWest & HSBC in the past & they've been a joke compared to Starting. There's no annoying phone options or speaking to someone from another country. Every time I've had a problem, it's been sorted out promptly & the Customer Service staff are brilliant. If you're looking for a simple online bank account, I think Starling does it very well.

Very disappointed with Starling Bank. I spent my whole evening completing the application for a business account for my new limited company, providing all requested information ( sensitive information) and documents, only to be rejected without any clear explanation. It feels like a complete waste of time and effort, especially when trying to set up a new business. I expected a smoother and more supportive process for new companies. So I opened a Tide business account within minutes.

Starling is a simple and friendly banking app that works well across devices, which other banks don't do. Unlike many banks such as Lloyds Bank, Barclays, and HSBC, it is clean, visual, and easy to manage. It also allows browser access, which Monzo and Revolut lack. Revolut feels cluttered and pushes subscriptions and emails, while Monzo is slightly simpler but still similar, always pushing pay them. Starling could improve overdrafts, add credit cards, and allow more app and card customisation.

If you've ever had an account with them but closed it, you're basically banned from ever returning. They won't say that though, instead they're telling old customers that they're 'temporarily' upgrading their systems and the restriction will be lifted once the upgrades are finished. Those 'upgrades' have now been in progress for 1-2 years though, with no schedule end date. Guess I'll be going to another bank.

Unintuitive. Trying to close my business account. Help says get in touch with Customer Service within the app. I can't find it, Starling provides no link to send an email or a contact telephone number to call. I'm a software engineer, and this is basic basic stuff. What should have been a simple click of a button has blossomed into a big headache!

Great flexible banking app. I have a card I can use abroad without paying any fees. I have a card I can use when out with a limit so great for keeping an eye on spending. I have created a digital card for EV charge payments. I have an ISA which has a better interest rate than the high street banks. I can move money around easily. The app works easily and I can make payments or have payments made to me. overall it's just a great online bank with a great app.

Very easy to use, convenient and have intuitive features to help you manage your money. They seamlessly transfer over details from your existing bank, including all payees, standing orders, direct debits. You can set up 'Saving spaces' and link particular bills to them, so your outgoing funds are automatically allocated, leaving behind what's actually available in your account to use. Would highly recommend for anyone who wants banking made easier and on-the-go.

I actually want to give this banking app 5 star... but couple things that would make the app even better 1. being able to create saving pots in the kits kites accounts 2. Subscriptions being paid from chosen spaces 3. offering JISA accounts otherwise I love this banking app where I can organise all of my money into different spaces, set auto payments and chooses what direct debits and standing orders come out of what space. I love that I can view my kids accounts all I the same app!!

Declined my application for a business account even though I have a personal account. The bit that seems really unreasonable is that they will not tell me why (and didn't even inform me, I had to search in the app). In the meantime this has clobbered my credit rating. I will be moving.

I'm using Starling for years and I have no issues with either the app or the service itself. Pretty smooth in my experience. Occasionally they redesign some stuff here and there that's a surprising at first but that's pretty much the only thing I can think of right now. I'm not a power user anyway.

The app is not working after a system update on my Google pixel. It keeps saying that my device does not pass security checks. Calling sterling support customer service was not helpful. thank you for your response. it is still not working after factory reset. do you have any other advice?

I have been with Starling bank now for nearly 6 years. The help and support I get from their customer service is excellent, mainly they are helping me with my card transactions from unknown persons aka scammers. I just send a text via the Starling app and within 24 hours I get a reply, plain simple instructions. I highly recommend Starling.

This app, like the service, is in constant decline. Now my card gets randomly declined online, then when I log in to the app my card isn't even there, it's as if my account is brand new (it's over 2 years old). The entire ecosystem is just completely unreliable!

Moved away in 2023 when I had a sight problem as I couldn't use phone screens easily. The App is still not Disability compliant. I had to use a highstreet Bank, which was a mistake as they closed down. Starling refuse to let me and others who left open new accounts. They said in one email their IT system has faults they haven't been able to fix FOR THREE YEARS. I've just been refused again in FEB 2026. I can't trust a bank admitting to IT problems with accounts.
