I use to love this app, however, it has been battery hungry especially when not in use. My fully charged cell phone went from 100% to 46% in 2 hours. When I checked my battery setting, this app had over 50% battery use in the background, while I was at work. I have done the usual clear cache, uninstall/reinstall with no success. I also turned off background use permission, however, the app will not work at all without being allowed to run in the background. Onto something new, I guess.

(I have the free version.) The main thing I use this app for is to have it tell me when to run and walk and keep track of how long/when, etc. It does a great job of that. But it always messes up my map, and shows me zig-zagging all over the city. So on a 2 mile workout, it says I've done like 25 miles. So that's pretty annoying. My goal is to be able to run for a certain amount of time, so the mileage isn't super important to me. But it would be nice if the GPS worked all the time!

This app (and some motivation) made a runner out of me! I had never been a runner, and I had tried C25K a few times and quit early. I found this app extremely helpful in building both physical and mental endurance. I use the customizable interval feature to make long workouts or to motivate me through a race. I even use it on half-marathons. I couldn't run more than a couple of minutes when I started. Great app, I recommend it to other aspiring runners all the time.

I've been using the paid version of this app for ~3 weeks. it comes with one training plan built in: workouts of progressively longer distance to help you build your way up to running a 5k nonstop. Some features i really like, like the countdown timer, distance tracker, calorie tracker, and audio/vibration cues. However, greater detail on the workouts in terms of how frequently they should be done, ability to skip workouts, and ability to turn off certain notifications would be great. Solid app.

I do like the app but when it stopped the free trial and required a payment - which I did - it to me back to day one and now I've had to try and figure out what my run routine should be for the rest of level one. It would be good if you could pick the day on each level that you want to run. If you're sore or you've been sick, you would be able to go back a couple of days.

Nice and simple with no bells and whistles that get in the way of the features you need, but it hardly ever tracks my workout correctly. I'm about 3 weeks in and it almost consistently tells me I've traveled about 1 mile less, and burned about 150 calories less, than my Fitbit reports. My BF and son have come on routes with their own smart watches (one Fitbit, one not), and mine is the only one reporting this. So it's not like it's the Fitbit overreporting. I do also turn on high-accuracy GPS.

I like the app and it's features, I've been using it since summer 2022. But once I got the paid version this past January, the GPS messes up so that by the end of my workout, it says I've only run .1 miles or 600 miles.. Not sure if it's something with the paid version or the fact that I switched from iPhone to Android, but it's extremely disappointing!

The running program is simplistic but effective if you are dedicated. Paying for the full version is really not worth it unless they expand the features. I would love to be able to see more of the data gathered so you can track progress, speed and distance. A way to visualize the different time/distance spent running and walking would be very helpful as well.

I have used Start Running app for over a year. It is reliable and easy to use. I go back and forth with easier to medium hard runs and started with very little jogging experience. For those with more stamina, it is possible to do so much more. The application also allows for personalized training by creating your own style run. I have been enjoying doing a sprint, jog, walking combination but options are endless. It keeps track of miles and it's been fun to see the amount I have done in a year.

I love it! The perfect amount of challenge without it being impossible, having never been a "runner" before :) however, i do have one small issue: i wish to be able to track my runs and see them on the map afterwards, but I've never been able to see them.. I make sure to have my GPS/location setting turned on.. By chance do i need to buy the full version for that feature? ☺

It's a good app, VERY basic, but it tells you when you run and walk, tracks your mileage and route, and it reminds you to workout. It's a little difficult for a brand new beginner such as myself, but you could repeat a workout rather than moving onto the next if you want to. I don't love that it won't show you the next workout until you complete the one you're on. I'm analytical and I like to know all the details.

I have used a number of running and fitness apps and this one is one of my top favs. It's simple yet effective, minimal ads, no bugs. It's straight to the point with little distractions. I'm no a trainer or fitness expert but I'd say the training has achievable difficulty increments. I used it after having my 3rd child and having not run consistently in over 3 years before pregnancy. The beginner's run program was challenging in an invigorating way and helped me achieve some goals.

I got halfway through level 1, and then it just stopped working. Asked me to pay or share a link on social media. I shared the link and it still won't let me continue. I'm basically being forced to find a new app. I'm disappointed. The difficulty increase was bad anyway though. I see now some apps go from 60 sec running to 90, while this one jumps straight to 120. I had to redo a lot of workouts to get through the difficulty spikes, which was discouraging. GPS didn't always work either.

It's a decent app that helped me get back into running again. Simple and easy to use. The problems I have are options to mute or even lower the countdown and voice. Another problem that I noticed with the app, it does not like to have other apps open while the work out is going. I'll have 3 other apps open or running in the background. I'll change music and put the device in my pocket. A 2 min walk became 5 mins because the app closed itself.

Fantastic app!! I use to run and be in better shape but I lost it. This app is exactly what I needed to get me back on track! It is simple and effective. I love that there is a "keep screen on" option because I keep my phone on my treadmill and now I can gradually get back into running and see exactly how long I have left in the step until I have to run/walk again. Other apps have alof of bells and whistles (and junk), but this app is clean and gets the job done!

This is great! The different options for goal times are great. I combined their 4 week plan with a different c25k plan by creating a custom workout. For me, the jumps between some of the workouts were too much, so i switched to runs i could finish, then back to this plan. It's unobtrusive and i can use spotify and still hear the beeps and voice for my intervals. It also makes it easy to keep track of your progress. Highy recommend!

It's a great couch to 5k plan, but overall it has very few features and what it has doesn't really work. GPS tracking cuts in and out so I never get an accurate distance. The picture of the map you get at the end of a run is too zoomed-in so you only see a third of your route. The pacing it sets really works for me and I like the layout of the timer as it is sleek and easy to read. I have to use something else to track my stats though.

I'm a bicyclist who had to switch to running due to a broken shoulder. Running always hurt my back in the past, but I am finishing level 2 and still doing great. I restarted level 2 due to an illness and I've really liked the way it's organized to help you deal with needing to back up. I use the repeat workout feature a few times when it felt too hard to continue to advance. I also like listening to music while running and the audio prompts overtake the music well. Great paid app!

I paid the little bit of money to get the paid version of the app. The timer and pacing are good for me, keeps me going even though I haven't progressed from level 1. I also use the ROM Coach app for musculoskeletal imbalances that I have discovered while running. I'm a long way off from running a marathon, but at least I'm enjoying the journey:)

I absolutely love this app! I have always struggled with running but wanted to still do cardio when all of the pools closed down. I found this app and liked the way it worked up running times while providing breaks. The app is set up so you can select a time goal. Fair warning: these goals are dependent on you being able to meet the previous running goal. My one complaint is the inability to skip ahead to a more challenging time set or even to see ahead to upcoming runs.
