In order to have the drive safe and save, the app becomes far too intrusive. I don't need a notification every single time I'm in a vehicle. Yet, you can't shut notifications off, or they won't allow the discounts. I understand precise location permissions, maybe even the physical activity, but this app does nothing but notify me every hour and drain my battery. Figure out a better system.

Extremely intrusive. Constantly popping up saying it's trying to connect to device, even if I'm nowhere near my car, like sitting in bed and on an airplane. Frequently forces you to type in your odometer reading, and bugs you constantly until you do it. Complains at you if you DON'T drive your car for a few days. This is an overreaching annoyance that never stops. On top of the poor design, app is buggy, often difficult to login, and antiquated. Makes me far less likely to continue my policy.

I've been using the Drive Safe and save app for 10 years now with no issue. Now that the apps merged I somehow did not get notified to update my odometer (I believe it's usually every 6 months) My premium went up by 30% with no explanation why right before the bill was due! I went in to talk to an agent but it wasn't their fault as they had records of sending me an email. Years of being a customer and building a discount gone because I didn't realize it was time to update my odometer.

Premiums are too high. Also I was quoted one rate and when the policy renewed I was charged a higher rate and had to push them to provide a reason. It took them about 1-2 months to come back and say it was a glitch in their system, sharing that other customers had the same problem. I continued to pay the higher cost even though they confirmed that it was a system problem. They called last month and said they went through everything again and the higher rate is correct. This app is irritating to use. The credentials expire frequently. I have had to change my password every time. It requires 12 characters minimum and at least one symbol, which is lengthier than I prefer. In the app there is a lot of useless clutter in the way. I can't even use the app for important things like claims; it just tells me I need to call. What's the point of that, then? This app is really only useful for bill pay.

This app sucks. incredibly intrusive. You don't need to know my location at all times! Absolute BS. It periodically wants to know the mileage on your vehicle, doesn't explain why, which is also annoying, because then I have to open the app and login with credentials I don't remember. I wish I didn't have to have this stupid thing, but if I don't, they hike the rate up. Ridiculous.

okay so the first problem I have with this app is the fact that you can't use your phone's GPS navigation without getting dinged for phone activity. this is ridiculous and their suggested solution is to buy a separate GPS navigation device? that's total BS come on guys figure out a way to allow apps like Google Maps and Waze to be used for navigation without dinging you! it's an app on a smartphone you should be able to figure this out! Edit: Seems to be okay in a phone holder using navigation.

Been with State Farm for over three years. The only thing consistent is how consistently broken the login is. Every password reset feels like déjà vu from hell. The app’s motto should be “Like a good neighbor, who changed the locks again.” Get it together. You're State Farm. Can't even login to make a payment because my password resets aren't going thru. It's not just the logins either. The app itself consistently freezes or doesn't load the next screen to the point I can't make a payment.

When I first used the device for about 1 month, everything was pretty accurate. And I grew accustomed to the device, and started to appreciate it because it helped me to slow down, and be more conscientious of my speed and other driving habits. But now, the longer I have the device, the more (inaccurate) it has become. ☹️

No need to move to the USSR, just down load this up and be monitored 24/7, whether you are driving or not. I did discover, however, that you can stop the app's access to your physical activity, and still have your trips recorded. Also, this app encourages people to run yellow lights, because if you have the option of breaking slightly harder than usual or speeding up and getting through as the light turns red, you'll get a black mark for choosing the safer option.

It's truly horrific. I second the valid complaints of everyone else. Drive safe and save was bad. This is infinitely worse. The discount almost isn't worth it. It's also seemingly ruined my Bluetooth connectivity. Other devices, like headphones, have a ton of trouble connecting to my phone in a way they never have before. The only change is this app.

Constant price increases! Why?? This is the only insurance I've ever had since I started driving, never been in an accident and for some reason the price is changing almost monthly. You'd think with many years of loyalty, and a good record, your price would drop throughout the years. Nope! If this continues, I WILL be going elsewhere. As far as the app goes, it's ok, but doesn't change the fact this insurance is losing it's mind (and it's customers).

I have a lot of issues trying to log in. it seems like it times out after I get a verification number, it'll just sit there loading after I type the number in. The biggest issue is I have it on auto pay, and for some reason, it never pays it, so I'm charged a late fee. It's a constant battle that takes about 45 min to try to make a payment very frustrating!!!

The app has to track my location even when I'm not in my vehicle "for my safety". That's ridiculous, intrusive, and runs my battery down. Might not be worth the Drive Safe and Save discount unless you change some of this. Edited: I turn off Bluetooth when not driving my car (I often go many days at a time without driving) so there's no need for me to be tracked, or have this running, when it's not in use. This is no longer an option to stop this as before when I just turned off Bluetooth.

They were fantastic when starting. As of late I've had increases that no one seems to have a clear answer to why. I've had discounts removed for no reason and once I had my son removed and my monthly went up by $50. It took another 2 months for them to "correct" what happened. I've been insurance shopping and will be glad to leave if I find something more financially consistent.

Improved over the previous version. At least now you can enter a simple pin instead of trying to remember the meaningless password they make up for you or reenter your driver's license stuff every time you want to get into the app. That's why I gave it 2 stars, not 1. However, it's still terrible when it comes to rating your breaking and acceleration. Totally inaccurate, but necessary for a discount. Maybe the smoothness of the car's ride makes a difference, rewarding those with heavier cars.

When I first started using this app I was dinged for going 9 miles over the limit, even though i has my ASL (Automatic Speed Limiter) set to go no more than 8 miles over the limit. I changed it to go no more than 7 miles over the limit. So now we are good on speeding events recorded. Now since I've eliminated the chance of speeding, I get dinged for everything else. Braking too hard or accelerating too fast. SMH. This app has me paranoid to drive. HATE IT!!!

They get you every way they can. Watch your premiums, they go up every 3 to 4 months and they tell you they don't have late fees yet if you pay late, they will send you a bill saying you missed payments when in all actuality, you haven't. What use to be a good insurance company has become greedy and shady. Watch your billing closely. Don't bother filing claims, they will make you live difficult there as well. DO NOT RECOMMEND. You can find cheaper elsewhere is you take the time to price shop.

Same as their drive safe and save app, they require far too many permissions just in order to open it. So you want to update your odometer reading? You must allow all permissions from your camera, mic, notifications, Bluetooth, physical activity, etc and unoptimize your phone. Do you want to check your insurance or request help? Same problem. And then you have to turn it all off once done, to be safe. It's enough to make one want to leave State Farm, even after many years with them.

The app requires to many permissions ( I might as well give them my phone and let them search through it). SF no longer counts mileage driven towards your discount. Not the apps fault, but sheesh. If I only drive 75 miles a month, I don't get a discount for hardly using my vehicle? The app runs in the background. Constantly. in one 24 hour period it was responsible for 20% of the battery usage. It's not worth the minimal amount of money I am saving.
