Stir: Single Parent Dating App

This app is easy to use. But unfortunately instead of showing me people who hit like, they are pushing the paywall so far as to show me people halfway across the country instead of showing me someone who liked me 60 miles away. The app also has a lot of abandoned profiles, filters don't work at all. I think the devs gave up on this a long time ago.

The app shows you profiles that have been inactive. Even if you live in a big city the results of a search are in another state miles away. Since the last time I was on it they changed the search filters to the bare minimum, even with a paid account, I liked it better when I could narrow it down to specifics. Keep getting ads to transfer to other apps, so no point in joining this one anymore.

Disappointing to say the least. not even worth it for premium. Filter options are minimal and half the people it shows you don't even fit within those filter options. Most of the profiles it shows and likes are from people 700+ miles away. As an app for single parents, who is going to be able to relocate if that goes somewhere? Positive is it gives you the option to filter out non-parent profiles but there need to be more filter options and it needs to show you people within those parameters.

The app is easy to use. Unfortunately there is a paywall with this app that unless the same person likes you, you won't be able to message the person. Majority of the profiles I have been getting lately are in a whole different state or multiple states away when I have my setting setup at 30 miles away from my location. It has been making this app frustrating to use.

Rip off ! I tried using this service and app and had nothing but problems. It was very simple to spend the $110.00, the money was removed from my account within seconds. Their support email was not working, so had to contact the parent company to try to get help. After nearly a week of still having problems I cancelled. Not the worst $110.00 I ever spent, but close.

Couldn't verify phone number right after purchasing subscription. Reached out to their customer support team and got the worst customer service experience ever so much that it felt like they were trolling. I don't think they have any actual people working in their service department, it's just bots. Every time I reached out to try to get the issue resolved I would receive the same bot auto response message. Locked out my account permanently it seems. Don't waste your money on this scam app.

Downgrading my original comment from 3 to 1. The distance filter on this is useless. I live in a city with a population of 2.3 million people, and if you include the surrounding suburbs it easily doubles to 4 million, and the closest people I have the option to match with are all 4+hours away. I got more people coming up in other states than in my city, which with the number of people in my city is absurd and my distance is set to 30 miles, not 400. update. still broke 1 year later.

Not very good. It seems like you have to pay for every little thing you do in the app. It's nice that there are multiple ways to connect with people. But it's annoying that the heights show up in cm and distances in km. Which means I have to do math every time I look at a new profile. Also, messages frequently seem to double and triple send by mistake. Which can be annoying for both you and the people you are trying to connect with. I'll be cancelling for now.

Total garage. I started with a non-paid account, which offers little to nothing in terms of messaging to others. So I took a chance on a 50% off premium subscription. Even with a paid subscription, it's garage. You can't even search for other people. I'll say it again, YOU CAN'T EVEN SEARCH FOR OTHER PEOPLE! You have to just wait for recommendations. Don't waste your money on a subscription. If you go the free account route, that's your choice but the subscription account is an absolute waste.

Another dating site that locks you behind everything. Can't even see who likes you, what they look like, their name, anything, locked behind a paywall. There's plenty of ways to make money on an app like this. Don't need to restrict your users so much they can't use the very basics of the app. Ads, digital goods, super likes, whatever, charge money for it, but locking the basic functions of the app is greedy. By lifting restrictions, you'll most likely gain traffic and revenue.

Terrible app. 1st, you pay for membership, then you pay for others to message you at 9.99 a person. The app shows you have X amount of matches, but every time you log in, they're old matches who you didn't ever speak to. I'm bummed I paid the membership, now I'm stuck with it. They should allow the user to pause membership and come back another time that way they don't waste the paid time while there's no users since they only allow a refund for a VERY short amount of time.

The concept is good but the execution is poor. This is purely a profit over service app. Every other app has a very similar price point that allows you to see your "likes" and decided if you want to interact with them, but not this one ...in order to have such a simple and important feature, they want 3 to 4 times the average amount. Their excuse is the cost to run the platform...the platform is a copy paste of Match with a few tweaks... it's not that expensive. STAY AWAY & keep your $

Literally no point in having the app when the only way to talk to anyone is if you pay for it. I get wanting 'premium' features for an app, but there's not any point when it's free to sign up but you have to pay to use everything else. At the point just make people pay to sign up. If I was able to message people I matched with that's one thing, but I can't even do that. Waste of time and will be removing my account.

The app is pretty cut and dry for the most part. It's easy enough to navigate and even an idiot like me can use it well. The only big issue I have is the subscription. I cannot cancel it and was even charged for a month I did not want and there is no information on how to contact anyone. Please, match llc, update the app so people can cancel the subscription if need be.

They send lots of likes and messages trying to get you to buy their product. Despite being in my age and location range (the only filters I have), the "matches"never show up in the recommendations. Run out of recommendations fast. Don't waste your time. They also keep saying I have 24 new recommendations, and when I go swipe, it's only a four or five before it tells me I'm out for the day.

Upon review of my subscription I see that I was signed up for 6 months. This was not the option that I chose as I only wanted to try the site out for 1 month & was not given an option of a free trial. I have tried the app for a few day in hopes that I would like it, but it really isn't for me. There are very few options & tweaks you can make. On top of that I wasn't even able to edit the miles in which I would be willing to connect with someone. Also your customer care option doesn't work!

Not only can you not see who has liked your profile without paying at least $15 (to have the ability for 1 week) you also can't see messages people have sent. I have hundreds of likes and after scrolling for hours I was able to eliminate only 1 from that list. That either means stir isn't showing me profiles of folks that like me or worse, they're lying about the number of likes. Either way, Stir is definitely more of a cash grab than an actual tool to meet potential partners.

You pretty much have to pay to get any traction. Someone sends you an intro, pay wall. The preferences are also ignored. Example - I input a radius for matches, as a parent I don't have the time to drive a long way. I'm getting suggestions for people within ~100miles. I also live in a major metro so it's not a lack of matches. Update - I have currated my preferences before posting my review. Like I said, getting matches from far outside of the distance I input.

I caved and paid for an account, but it's not respecting my "seeking" limits. Probably 80% of the profiles shown are too far away for me. This is for single parents, our free time is limited and valuable, if we're not interested in driving all over or not capable of moving for love, distance is important! Other than that it's fine, it's not very different from any other app. ETA: what a scam. I contacted support about seeing profiles out of my "seeking" range and was told to increase my range.

You literally can do *nothing* except make a profile without paying for it. It also shows you the same profiles over and over and over even after you "no" them. Edit in response to Stir's reply: This is not true. You cannot see the profiles of anyone who likes you, just a first name and blurred out picture. If you click on their profile, you're given the options to purchase and no further information. Also, no one wants to see a match suggestion for someone they've already passed on 3 times in 5 minutes. The repetition is pointless.
