Solid app, but most features have been slowly moved into the subscription so that as a free user, you are essentially just giving the company your data. Other basic fitness apps have feature parity with the free version now, so unless you're ready to pay I would explore alternatives. To add insult to injury, in 2025 they have sued Garmin with some patents that never should have been granted. The second any issue with Garmin linking occurs I will delete this and never use it again.
Used to work great, but after the recent update a couple weeks ago the app is no longer working. Keeps saying "an error has been corrected" when trying to record trips. The GPS, distance, speed, and routes are all inaccurate. Wish they wouldn't have tried to fix something that wasn't broken. It's also annoying that they're always trying to push the paid subscription on users, even though it offers only slightly more usable features vs the free app did before it became full of errors.
Decent app for tracking riding, although there are better. Plus: the social aspects, giving each other kudos for rides. Minus: a*lot* of your personal stats are only available for the paid version. Unpaid, you don't even get an odometer of your riding beyond the latest month. Other free apps offer way more. It keeps pushing features, but all with the gotcha: "pay to see that!" Wish they were less money grubbing. updating -1 star. now they give even less. pretty much any other app will give more
Strava will not stop spamming me with requests to upgrade to the paid subscription. However, I would never even consider upgrading when there are so many bugs and errors on the app. Please stop asking for money until you have an app that works. The only reason I am still here is because I love the third party website Strava feeds its data to. Once I figure out how to go around, I'm out. Currently, Strava is telling me my last walk was my longest ever. It's not my longest walk in distance or time
GPS tracking is extremely inconsistent and under-sells distance and speed. If the GPS can't connect, none of your activity will be tracked, and that activity will be automatically scrapped. Activities will randomly restart and begin counting time spent driving towards physical movement goals. Please don't bother with this buggy mess, and definitely dont spend any money on it. It doesnt deserve any.
Strava used to be a good app. However, recently, it has become less accurate, displaying areas I haven't run, such as through a lake, I'm not a lizard or the messiah, I can't run or walk on water!!Sponsored badges are prioitised over Strava badges, allowing companies to harvest data. Badges often aren't awarded, which is frustrating because they provide motivation. I've run distances several times but have not received a badge. There are other apps that are probably more reliable.
I'm having trouble canceling my trial membership before it's up, 2 days to be exact. (I recently purchased a Garmin and barely used the app.) When I hit "cancel membership" the app glitches & it takes me back to "my account." I don't even have the chance to hit "confirm" because it disappears everytime. I've reached out to "support" and I sent a screen recording, and they told me to do what I've already done. "Support" is Trash. I'm annoyed and I better not get billed.
The GPS tracking is off at least 50% of the time I use it. It constantly cuts corners and sections of my route off. I know the issue isn't my device because I can record accurate routes with other apps. Just as bad, is there is no way to upload a gpx file on the mobile app, so if I want accurate routes, I have to record it with another app, export the gpx file, transfer it to a laptop, and then upload it from the web.
As many other recent reviews stated, more and more features are being placed behind a subscription paywall. The newest of which is the end of year recap, being that it's just a collection of totals from your personal activities over the course of the year, it seems overreaching to place this behind a paywall / subscription. As with any other useful app, you use it long enough and slowly see it become less about usability and more about greed.
Ever since I installed on my new Pixel phone, the app is repeatedly crashing. I can't record an activity, pull up a route mapped on a laptop, or even see my feed or notifications for more than a min before it crashes and closes. Have tried reinstalling, rebooting the phone, etc. Strava tech support says it's a "known issue", that they're working on it and appreciates my patience... it's been down almost 2 months so, patience is over - gonna have to cancel my subscription.
This app has been going downhill for years, slowly monetizing more and more formerly free features, and now runs don't even save - There's seemingly a bug affecting pauses on runs. Stopped to adjust your shoe? Your run is over, it doesn't record any of your time or pace past that point. Using a stopwatch and a calculator on a track field until it gets fixed or I find a good version of Strava.
no optimized app for tablets. I bought a mini iPad to attached to my bike. I expected the app to be able to work in landscape mode, but only comes up as a portrait app in the center of the landscape mode. also, app is not very intuitive. so many things that I've tried to do, I have to look every time just to find what I'm trying to accomplish.
This app and the service in general is absolute garbage. I'm giving it one extra star as it has some basic niche utility. but it is highly unreliable. Workouts randomly disappear from the feed or, worse yet, will not appear at all even if they are able to appear on your profile page. people cheat by pausing for long periods and then resuming their workouts which can lead to faster paces than a normal experience. Features randomly go away. Customer service is AI slop. Don't reccomend.
Your app is making it difficult to delete my account. I only download for a specific reason but realized I didn't need too i owned a device that does this already. So every time I hit the delete account it keeps taking me out to your web page to enter my email and keeps telling me I have to log out first when I'm not logged in. And when I'm about to log in after I receive a code it does it all over again. can you delete my account on your end? This is getting irritating.
Useless. "Strava recovered from a problem" and loses half of my route. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. And yes, it had al permissions, battery saving disabled, yada yada. Unreliable, avoid like the plague. Even more garbage than Sports Tracker. 90%+ of my recent dozens of workouts randomly stop wrong in the middle, and I losing tracking. And I have all the battery saving settings disabled, all permissions given, yada yada yada.
The free version of the app is great. It connects to many brands of devices and gives me a way to interact with others who live farther away. Lately, the app has been offering a free 30 day trial. Like constantly, with a countdown timer. I'd be interested, except I can't actually sign up - the app just gives me an error message. So maybe the developers should make sure the free trial feature works before making a gazillion splash screens that don't work.
Horrible app. It seems to only work if you take out a paid subscription. Despite it supposedly being able to import information from other apps it would not do so from my Garmin app. However the final deal breaker was when it wouldn't let me log in with my Google account went through the whole process of resetting the account and then it wouldn't let me in without presenting me with captcha visuals. I'm not stupid but after trying about 10 times I could never get past it.
Lately I've been having an issue that when I finish a run, it's giving me a time that isn't accurate. I'll do a run and get regular updates every 500 meters. My run will finish around the 40 minute mark and I'll finish the run, save it on the app and then when it's finished loading find out that it says I only ran for 25 minutes but that the distance was the same. It's only started recently, other then this small issue the app is awesome. But for now just 4 stars.
Buggy & expensive. Currently in free trial period. The (huge) cost of a subscription would only be good value if the app was amazing, you use it loads & the fancy features useful. It's not, I don't, & they're not (for me). App constantly nags to get me to do things I don't want to do. In use (cycling), the map randomly resets from North-up to orientation-up, with no input from me, & is often 90deg out! I end up having to interact with little on-screen buttons when riding, which is dangerous.
Way, way, way too many notifications and emails without a setting to turn them off. Strava, I never (not ever) want or need kudos from the app or an email about someone giving a thumbs up. The interface, connections, and timeline are not intuitive and make me never want to use the app.
