This app is still good, dont get me wrong, but there's a glitch that's happening right now, it gives me a pop up to go premium, but whenever I click the "proceed with ads and limits" button it doesnt take me back to the main page, meaning I can't watch an add to get time for my hotspot, which is basically forcing me to buy premium when I don't want to. I'm still putting atleast 3 stars because the app is an amazing hotspot, but this glitch is really making me consider unstalling it.
The app works like it's supposed to and I have been using it for like the longest time now. Recently tho it's been glitched to where I can't add anymore time by watching an ad, and when I try to it keeps trying to make me buy the subscription and I can't close it? I tried uninstalling it but it was the same problem afterwards, the same has been happening to a friend of mine who also has the app and we both dk what to do lol💀
App used to be decent. it worked as advertised and was workable. it had some issues, but was overall acceptable. at some point recently they seem to have decided that "Acceptable" was too good for anyone not on premium, and decided to make it that rather than unlimited use with limited options, they would give you 15 minutes per ad you watch with limited use. at this point, if i want to watch a movie not available in my region, It's 5 ads in a row, not including breaks. not worth using. avoid.
Great app. Fast VPN, mostly trouble free. Subscription comes free/included with my subscription to another product. That being said, every few days it logs out on my phone requiring me to fully reopen the app (as opposed to using the "Quick Launch" button) and login using an extremely undersized, small font "Login" link. This is incredibly annoying, combined with it being an overpriced product compared to some other very good (and as fast) free or much lower cost alternatives. Overall don't pay!
As a premium subscriber through the developer's partnership with Dashlane, it works well enough for my needs. However, researching the more popular and costly VPNs (Nord, Express, etc.), the shortcomings of this one do show through more clearly. The biggest flaw, for me, is the lack of any option to change DNS servers, as I find Hotspot's to be fairly weak in comparison to even some free DNS server providers, and lacks any customisation feature to reinforce such.
It used to work great, keywords: used to. With a recent update, you can't add any additional time, because every time you try, it brings up the Free Trial window, and attempting to press the "Proceed with ads and limits" button does nothing. If it wasn't for the fact that it was currently completely unusable for people who don't want to sign up for anything, it would be 4 or 5 stars.
If my account wasn't bundled with another service I use regularly, I would uninstall and use a different VPN. The app constantly signs you out without telling you. Rather than triggering a pop-up that prompts you to sign back in, it just connects you to the free version automatically. It's extremely annoying and poor design. Furthermore, the UI on android has laggy inputs and visual bugs that lock up the app. I regularly have to force stop the app to get it to function correctly.
I love the desktop version so I thought I'd try the app and it is awful. You're limited by time (30 min) instead of data usage and with an ad popping up every time I do anything or don't do anything (ad would pop up everytime I receive a notification from Facebook, email, etc then take two additional seconds to tell me I can go back to browsing, and then giving me yet another ad when I go to check said notification), it is literally unusable. Such a shame since the desktop version is awesome.
Seems to work well most of the time. Sometimes the connection is slow requiring a quick reset by disconnecting and then reconnecting. Some apps will not work with Hotspot shield ON. If you disconnect, it will reconnect automatically. There needs to be a fix to this other than going into your App manager to force stop the App. Just recently with the latest update, there are a lot more disruptive adds every time you open an app.
Honestly, the VPN in itself is pretty good. The ads are only 5 seconds long, so I can live with it. However it seems to try and turn itself on as much as possible to bombard you with them. Make it so that we have the option to turn it on, and the only way it turns on is through user input. This automatic turn on seems like a cheap and really annoying way to try and push ads on to the user.
The VPN works fine enough, just like on my desktop. But UNLIKE on PC, this app gives you constant, random popup ads while you have it turned on. The VPN is great but this is seriously annoying, if you don't need it on other versions of the service then there's no excuse here. I know you need money, but a banner ad in the app itself would be just as good and not incredibly disruptive. On top of that, the app starts on a screen telling you to buy the premium service, with a 7 day trial and a $70 ANNUAL FEE, and the X button to choose the free version is small and bright grey on a white background, very misleading design.
The vpn works like it should, but it is incredibly frustrating to use. Especially recently, the amount of advertising is overwhelming. Every time I switch apps, I have to watch an ad and watch a 5 second screen tell me that "my session is is ready to proceed." Even just swiping down to look at my notifications, if there is a snapchat notification, I get an ad. I don't even have to click on it, just the fact that the notification is there makes me watch an ad. Too hard to use for it to be worth.
It works ok and speeds are fine but you have to babysit it constantly as it constantly disconnects and won't reconnect automatically regardless of what settings you have configured. Seems to do better if you don't jump access points so fine if you don't wander or travel the floor of a building. At the end of the day you can't trust it to protect your data since it can't reliably stay connected. I will not be re-upping my sub, despite using it for a long time.
1. Reinstalled the app and they make you go through so many pages to use the free version without paying, making it really unclear that you can actually do so. 2. Their password reset page straight up doesn't work 3. When they ask you to rate them within the app, they direct you to their help page if you rate them less than 4 stars (to be fair it is a chance for people to resolve the issue they're having) and direct you here if you rate them 4+ stars.
It does what it says. It can be checked by going to whatsmyIP. Com .You can set it up within the app, to look like your virtual up address is coming from almost any country you want. I'm sure someone with enough Tech knowhow time and reason could figure out who it is, but as way of hiding your browsing habits, from third party trackers, this is it. Videos run without buffering, and switching from 1 site to the next, may lag a bit, not enough to be a deal breaker. I recommend this app!
Don't waste your time installing this useless app, unless you plan on purchasing it! The first couple of times I used this app, it worked great! I haven't been able to connect since! I honestly believe, once they realize you're not gonna pay for this app, they basically cut you off. Besides, the free basic version is loaded with numerous adds! You watch this minute long add and then you close it and another add automatically appears. WHAT A JOKE!!! I'll be uninstalling this useless app, ASAP!
I've used this application for years on various PCs, and always loved it. I had it on my phone for months, and suddenly an unauthorized charge for a yearly subscription popped up out of nowhere and now I'm trying to figure out how to get the $69.99 refunded to my bank account. Good app, but be careful because if your bank card is linked to your Google account, you may get an unwanted surprise charge one day!
For free/basic plan you have to see ads and they give you only 15 minutes of VPN service. Inside of that still you can't select choice of your location. For that you have to purchase. Then why the hell you guys mentioned as a free app. Clearly mention for your service we have to pay. Misleading, misinformation. Also there is no option to delete your account.
After the 7 day trial I cancled my subscription and thought that was the end of it. After about a week i looked at my bank account and it had taken 13 dollars out. I went back into the app and tried to make sure the subscription was cancelled and wanted to file a complaint but there was no way i could cancel or check to see if it was canceled and it said my account was a free acount. If i could rate this less then one star i would.
This is perfect. I don't mind the ads on the free version because they're short. If they could play muted that would be great. If I'm listening to music it pauses to play the audio from the ad then music resumes. For me it's aggravating but I can't pay for the premium version and I have the protection I need with the free one. That's a personal preference. This app is something that everyone should be made aware of. Connection is always fast and stable. Love it
