Hard to navigate to the movies. Which is all I watch. Has a limited amount of movies so when I finish them I am uninstalling. Plus it automatically logged me out of my TV last night. No power fluctuations, no internet, or tv issues - just logged me out. Could really be a good app but due to the issue with getting to the movies, limited amount of movies, and the app is horribly designed I will not keep it.
If you use Chromecast, there's an NBC "Ready to Cast" banner along the bottom that won't go away. It's really distracting and makes it impossible to read subtitles. Every time I reopen the video window (say, to rewind), the video crashes altogether. When I try to reopen it, I end up at a random point in the episode. Theoretically, the option to watch without a TV subscription is great. But you only get 3 "credits," with no way to buy more. I have 7 or 8 streaming apps, this one is the worst.
Awful app, I only use it because it's the quickest way to watch new episodes from the shows I like. Has way too many ads (around 15 ads each 45 minute episode), crashes all of the time and says the show is unavailable (which results in me watching even more ads), and doesn't have that great of an interface. The app would be much better if there were less ads and it was more stable.
Downloaded this app on a smartTV in order to watch on a large screen, but the app glitches constantly. Several times, it either froze or started rewinding when I hit pause. The commercial breaks are randomly inserted, often cutting a person off mid sentence even if there was time for a break a minute later. Because of this, I've had to rewind to catch what a person said. But every time you rewind and hit a commercial break you have to watch it all over again, with no options to skip. 0/10
As a free user who doesn't have the money to pay for a cable service, this app is honestly terrible. It has been plagued with errors involving newer releases of shows where it is impossible to watch them, and when you CAN get it to work, the ads can stack up to 8 at a time (5 or more ad breaks for a 48 min episode) this app also doesn't have the most user friendly UI. I would willingly pay a small fee to have a better service, but cable is NOT affordable nowadays.
Played the shows just fine. But could not control it. No pause, rewind, fast forward at all. Never seen anything like it. Was very frustrating. Using pixel 8 Pro. Tried app again. Watching an episode and not knowing how far into the show, after a commercial it went back to the beginning. Last time I use this app. Sticking to peacock app it works .
This app is a raging dumpster fire. Impossible to easily navigate to actually watching a show, too many ads during shows and playback issues- if you pause and come back to resume, might as well start over, because you will watch 5 minutes of ads only to have sync issues, if video resumes at all. Tested on multiple devices, same experience. App needs to be completely overhauled to be on a par with any other streaming service in 2019.
No exaggeration: this is THE worst app I've ever used. The search bar is broken and does nothing. It took me 8min to open the episodes on a show, and there's no clear button that brings you to the episodes. I cant open the episodes at all from my watchlist. It's incredibly laggy and freezes my phone. If I'm pushing something from the app to the Chromecast and I open the app at all, it restarts whatever I'm casting to the beginning. I can't pause anything, either, without it restarting. TERRIBLE!
Its ok till the ads start to run which is "ok" until it messes up the audio of the show making you either have to restart the episode or click around to reload at a good spot. Same thing happens on the website and is super annoying but its better than going through the "free" sites and legal. And this is "free" so ya. 3 stars. Fix the audio bug and it would be atleast 4.5.
It won't cast the visual to Chromecast, only audio. Have to attempt multiple times to try and get it to cast. Can only do mirror image from phone. but if you do that then you can't do anything else while you're watching TV. Cuz everything you do would be cast up on the screen. I think it would be better if they put the little "cast" icon on the actual show you're watching instead of on the home screen only. That way you can cast the show that you actually want to watch.
Terrible user interface, but the most annoying thing is that you skip ahead on any of the shows. If there is 5m left in an episode and you lose connection for a second or the app crashes, you have to restart from the very beginning. You can't pause an episode and come back to watch it later, you have to start from the very begining. If you switch from any app back to SYFY while an episode is playing, it restarts the episode from the very beginning. Like every other streaming service there are on
1. Doesn't work on Google devices, anytime you click on an item once opened it immediately closes the entire app. 2. The options upon closure are to close or send feedback, however the feedback selection doesn't work. 3. The list of cable providers which you must select from to use the app are randomly listed and there are hundreds of them so it takes forever to set up. 4. The watchlist feature does not work on app as in the app directions. (Was able to install on Amazon devices) 5. Once you have selected a movie there are a bunch of commercials which you can not fast forward through. 6. If you close the movie part way through it doesn't save it but rather you must start it from the beginning and while you can fast forward through the movie, you have to watch all the commercials again. 7. Fast forward and reverse if used frequently results in the movie stopping and you have to go through commercials again when you reopen in attempt to get back. 8. Review on this also just disappeared the first time I wrote it and I had to rewrite it from the start! This is without question the worst cable provider app I have ever used
Seems to be more of an ad watching app than anything. Watch an ad to start the episode you want to watch. 1 minute into show you watch 7 more ads. Its got to be close to an ad per minute of watch time. Insane amounts of ads. When your episode is very close to being over its another 6 ads and watch the last few minutes followed by more ads after the episode is already over. Then guess what?? More ads before the next episode starts. So 2 sets of ads back to back. 1 minute later 7 more.
Love keeping up with my favorite shows on this app, but my God, the ads. The ad breaks seem to be randomly placed, the audio and video have a tendency to split so I'm listening to one ad while watching another, and they tend to cut off and have the same audio splicing problem with the show itself. Turns a 45 min show into an 1 hr 20 min hassle.
I'm fine with paying for an app if there's content I enjoy on it. The sci-fi app has plenty of content I enjoy and, even as much as I'd happily pay to access it, that apparently isn't an option without paying out the rear for a ridiculously priced add-on on my Hulu account. That said, I can only express my disappointment in having to rid myself of this app and find other ways to watch the programs you seem happy to charge an arm and a leg to be able to watch.
Too many ads (up to 8 at a time approx. every 8 min.). I've used many sreaming apps and this one has the most ads. Sometimes the ad nrver loads snd your forced to restart the app. Some of the shows kept skipping. Crashed a few times. Pushes programing from its networks so much that I am uninstalling. Sometimes less is more. Doubt they will learn though.
App is terrible and has waaay too many ads. A movie seems to load ok the first time you play but if you quit it's really hard to get it to open again, it just keeps buffering. At one point the audio was messed up when I was streaming the sound. I could hear audio from commercials overlaying the sound in the movie. Got it to stop by restarting. And then I had to keep restarting the app when it wouldnt buffer. And no way to exit unless you quit the app.
If this app had a way to buy more credits I would give it 5 stars. I don't watch enough T.V. to justify getting cable/ satellite and I'm sure there's other people that feel the same. Offering a way to buy credits would be a great way to bring more people to this app. I saw a few shows I'd definitely watch but because I'm saving credits for a specific show, I'm not going to use them. So SYFY is definitely missing an opportunity here. Let us buy credits or offer a monthly subscription!!
I've had this app on my Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note8 for about 9 months now and at first it worked great!!!! But here lately for about the past month or so it has been buffering A LOT!!!!! Plus if I exit without finishing the movie/show and go back later it will right away show me 5 to 6 ads before it starts showing me what I was watching!!!!! And on top of that EVERY SINGLE TIME it goes to ads it will show me 4 or 5 ads instead of 2 or 3 max!!!!!! It's annoying!!!!! And to boot sometimes it just keeps buffering and buffering and won't play the movie/show!!!!!! Please help and fix ASAP!!!!! And I will give you a higher rating!!!! Thanks in advance!!!!!
The SYFY app is pretty good. But it could use an enhancement update. I currently use the app on an Android box and 2 Android TV's. The app does not work well with Android Boxes or Android TV's. Example: I'm currently watching Battlestar Galactica but I want to go back and watch the last 2 episodes over again. The app does not work well with regular remote control. It's optimized to work with a smartphone or tablet for figure scrolling only. The app is not allowing me to scroll back to rematch
