Very confusing. Had an offer and subscribed for a year. Did not use it at all during this time - I don't eat out very often, and the offers aren't great despite introducing new places. There was a discrepancy between card and account which made it very hard to login. I deleted the app, a while later received email saying I'd paid the £30 renewal cost! To cancel you have to go through the app and login again. And their T&Cs are not lenient, even Apple offers refunds for unused subs! Avoid!!
Biometric sign in needed! I appreciate the discounts I get, especially as I only paid an introductory £1 for the year, but, the app is so annoying! No biometric sign in means you have to put in your password EVERY SINGLE TIME you use the app. Very tiresome when you're in a coffee shop and flicking between the app and the coffee shop loyalty app.
Feel like I've been scammed. You sign up for a year. The app is terrible. The discounts are rubbish or unusable(and mostly available free anyway). You don't use the card. You forget about it. It auto renews with no notification. There's no way to turn it off in the app. It's like a gym membership, where they rely on people not being bothered to cancel, by making it deliberately awkward. I'm going to chargeback the renewal if they refuse to refund it.
I could barely find any useful deals on this app. I found better deals on free app like 'Fork' (highly recommended, and sometimes on 'first table'. Tastecard used to be great pre-pandemic a few years ago with variety of genuinely good deals but now mostly useless ones. I had a £1 offer subscription for 1yr which I didn't end up using at all. App was glitching and struggled to log on to cancel subscription then automatic renewal with a high fee. Still couldn't find any useful deals.
Sharp practices - avoid. I bought access in return for a £20 pizza express voucher which was not sent for a month and only lasted a month. I've never seen gift cards with a one month duration before and the details were buried in the subsidiary second set of terms, not the primary terms. My honest opinion is the entire endeavor is designed to confuse and extract money from users for little benefit.
The new app update is a little better than the car-crash of an app it used to be. But it's still terrible. For example, click on "Manage membership" and it displays your membership details in read-only, and no actions to perform on it! The website tells you this is where you have to go to cancel it. Who tests this thing??
Terrible customer service. I asked in 3 separate emails for a £29.99 refund because I cancelled 1 day after my trial period ended but they would not refund me. I did not receive any reminder email to say that my trial period is coming to an end. I could also not log in to my account on the app to then cancel my account. I had to email 'customer services' which did not help me at all. A gesture of goodwill would have been warmly appreciated at Xmas. I will never again use Taste card.
Great deals hampered by an awful app. The interface for the app is dire - loading websites within the app but with no navigational functions, meaning if you try to click 'back' it'll reload the whole app. The app also stops website cookies working properly meaning you can't sign in or save your details with participating restaurants. Couple this with misleading clickbait promotions in the app directory like "% discount, or BOGOF" which don't apply at the time you're looking? very poor!
The discount maybe useful, BUT manage your account carefully, no renewal reminder & wanted to cancel, but no, as soon as the money is out your account, that's another year- what about the legally binding 14 day cooling off period I hear you ask, their answer: "The part applicable to subscriptions in the DMCC Act may not come into effect until Spring 2026 at the earliest. We comply with all relevant laws and legislation." Will never use them again & I suggest you find an alternative.
App is not great to use. Just installed the new version. Looks exactly the same as the old one. Most places just want to see the card and despite there being a button that says "My Card" it doesn't have the details. That's pretty basic folks - please sort it.
App is broken after latest update. It took over my phone, stopped me from closing the app, opening other apps or restarting my phone etc. Couldn't get into settings ir anything. Had to wait for screen to time out and it to auto lock my phone, then could restart from my lock screen. Nightmare!
There is something very very wrong with the latest version of this app. Viewing the pizza delivery options causes the app to lock up, preventing use of the bottom orientated buttons but more importantly stopping you from exiting the app at all without a full phone restart. Very poor considering you're emailing to update!
I love the deals and I've had a lot of use out of it but since the last update it just doesn't work! Constantly freezing and crashing it's become totally unusable. I really hope it gets fixed soon because otherwise it's been great.
Garbage. Complete waste of your money. All 'fake' offers that amount to you saving nothing in real terms. Stay away and warn others. Also, I couldn't cancel my membership when I tried, despite following guidance from their website. I can't state this enough.. Stay away, these people are nothing but scammers. Read other reviews on Playstore or App store, which will confirm this.
Horrible user interface, it is stuck in 2010. why is it so difficult to change locations and find restaurants on this app, it feels you made it purposely hard so people can't use your tastecard, this interface hasn't been updated for ages.
since this update nothing opens. I have tried clicking on restaurants in my area to get a qr code, but nothing happens. It had all worked fine up until now but have had to pay full price for something I should have been able to discount. Not happy.
The app is literally unusable at the moment. I open it up and select Pizza Hut for example and it is impossible to switch to any other app on my phone or go to the home screen. I have to restart my phone every time. Using Google Pixel 7a
used to be useful but now is completely broken.. once you've opened it, none of the tiles work and, far worse, you can't close the app or switch to anything else. only way out is to switch the phone off.
worked fine until recently. Everytime I login to see deals and new venues, it locks up. I can't leave the app or close it down. The only way to escape is to force my phone to restart!
I didn't use it even once before my subscription expired. The app was too clumsy and unstable, so it was too difficult to find places nearby or places I was already in. When I did manage to find the correct place, the conditions were often very limiting, and I could rarely use it spontaneously. I guess if you plan in advance it could be useful, but it's a bit much, as there's often already a student discount in many places.
