I love TED Talks but the app has something wrong with it. I've updated my software, restarted my phone and still have the same issues. Whenever I watch a video, it will randomly pause. This happens when I'm both watching videos from the app and when I turn my screen off. It doesn't pause the video right away after I shut my screen off but it always seems to pause when the video is nearing the end or the middle. Now when I'm watching a video, none of the buttons work. Like to save or share.
I really want to love this app but the download feature is AWFUL. It constantly fails to download playlists and will try for hours. And then, if you try to cancel it downloading a playlist because it is stuck it will undownload the WHOLE playlist. On top of that, even once you manage to get something downloaded, unless you're connected to WiFi or data it frequently won't play it. And sometimes even when you're connected it still won't play it and will freeze and spin forever even if you kill the app. Andddd furthermore, I couldn't find the setting that only allows it to stream over wifi. There's one for downloading only over wifi. But I've accidentally streamed over my data plan multiple times now. Which I wish I had more control over. Overall, the only reason I didn't give this app 1 star is because the content is worthwhile and the interface would be great if I could get the downloading to work smoothly. As it is, I feel like it's trash.
This is not the Ted I used to know. What is with a 20-minute ads that are hard to skip? If you tried to listen to a playlist, it inserts ads that are 20 minutes long and then you have to click a button to skip. So unattended listening is dead. Sometimes it just skips the next video and starts at 20 minute add again. I don't mind short ads give it up to a minute and a half long. Thats fine. But 20 minutes long???
When full-screen, the pause button doesn't show up. It forces you to hit your own phone's back button if you want to pause, meanwhile the video is still playing as it minimizes the whole video. You have to press on the play bar to get the video up again, and only then the pause button is available. Aside from that, other streaming services allows you to customize subtitle size, but you can't on here, which is too big for the videos. I do appreciate the double language subtitles feature though.
The content and personalization features are great but any interaction with a video that is in progress causes the app to crash. if you try to rewind, change to portarit mode, skip ahead...video will stop playing. If it only occurred a few times there'd be no problem. But it happens every time. So if you're halfway through a video and it crashes you can restart it, but you cant skip ahead to the spot you were on last. Honestly I use the app to find great recommendations then find them on youtube
I love listening to insightful and meaningful Talks! on this app. but there are some minor problems on this app that the developer should address. starting with the audio on podcasts that pauses suddenly without my control and autoplay that doesn't work. I also suggest you to add more Talks! into the app because there are some famous talks which you can't see in the app.
This app is just like a motivation and guide for yourself. Through it i learn the hard way of discipline. It is a must use app.
Many of the Ted-ed videos simply don't play. Otherwise, a very good app!
I am big fan of TED and their content. I needed the app because TED stopped video podcasts rss feed and this seemed like the intended alternative ... and it is not. Managing the videos basically does not work, menu functions do not do anything, app hangs often.
While listening with earphones and screen locked app often stops playing in the middle of ted talk for no reason and also becomes totally unresponsive. needs to be restarted and does not store what I was listening to, so it is difficult to continue after restart. completely horrible user experience
c'mon Ted, it's time to update the app adding buttons get back, forward, volume, brightness and the same interface c'mon Ted....
Honestly, this app deserves 5 stars for how great it is. But that one star was shot down by the lack of options in video quality settings. I mean, there are only two options: HD and SD. The problem is that even SD consumes too much data. I nearly lost 1 GB while watching a 30-minute video, and guess what? I could only watch half of that video due to my daily data limit. So, I recommend adding more options like 720p, 420p, 360p, and even 144p! Until then, I am keeping that star for you.
It's good app for growing especially for people who studying English language. But I found that this app often get stuck or get lags when I decided to rewind 10 seconds I can't and even open the subtitles because when I touch the video, it doesn't work. Please can you fix this problem please
Limited content and not compatible with Chromecast. I used to spend so much time on this app, finding great talks and casting them to the TV. Now there is no longer an option to cast and there is less on there than the website it seems. However it is better than the android TV app, that doesn't even have an option to log in to access your saved videos, never mind even half of what I want to watch, that is very poor.

I loved the app, the interface is nice, simple, and works seamlessly. The only thing I'm truly disappointed in is that since the update I can no longer see the videos I've liked! I clicked like on videos that I wanna watch again and again, and the saved playlist in my library is for the videos I'd like to watch (later). Now I can't even find those videos that I've liked anymore! If it's just me, please let me know how. if you really remove that function, please bring it back!
doesn't work keeps freezing and not loading videos.
It's okay.... Primarily overall I'm disappointed with the limited amount of Ted Talks. What's the point of using the app, when I have to use google or YouTube to find the talks I want anyways? Do not expect to find all the T-Talks you can imagine here. Their search engine needs an overhaul. Also it seems to push a very limited amount of videos you may be interested in. Keep seeing the same talks over and over, even after I've watched them a couple times.
I like Ted talks. but since I am curious about the most popular ones, I have to use the TED websites or YouTube most times. I hope you add order by most viewed and trading.
The App works great except when you want to share any of the talks. Other than that, you can download any talk in 3 different video qualities for offline use, and each talk usually comes with different subtitle language options. You can browse talks by speaker, subject and save your favorite talks to your own Favorites list. It's easy to find interesting talks from important figures in different areas, including science, history, philosophy and education.
It's great to be able to browse the back catalogue of talks and add them to a list to be watched later. However, I watch on a number of devices and, whilst I have an account, it does not sync on each device. For example, I add talks to my list on my Amazon Fire Tablet but cannot then access this on my Fire TV device or my android phone. A bit infuriating when you have a great number of talks saved to watch spanning across a huge range of topics.
