The app itself is pretty good, but having the option to turn off "cycling" as a suggestion would make it better. We have two seniors and one person with a fairly recently broken ankle in our group, so cycling is NEVER an option. Having it come up as the recommended choice time and again is both annoying and impractical. Being able to remove that option would be great in circumstances like ours.

On the whole a good app. A few improvements would make it a great app particularly to help people from outside London. 1 - Show the zones on the map. It will save having to download a separate map. 2 - make it easier to plan journeys by allowing you to easily put in from location and different travel times rather than 'go now'. 3 - allow a longer time before the app auto refunds oyster credit or make it so you dont have to tap a reader to apply it to card. It allows for ahead planning.

Since I want to have a sense of where I'm walking, I haven't used the route-finder. I downloaded the app to track and top up my oyster card, but as noted in other reviews, topping up doesn't work, so I have to go do that using machines at a tube station (really annoying if my next trip is on a bus). Why have the top up button if it just doesn't work? I am able to see my fare history, but only on home wifi, not when I'm out and about (and about to need a top up). Really not useful.

I downloaded the app for my upcoming trip to London and tried to make an account, unable to, then tried to add my payment method without an account, also unable to. Instead I kept getting the following.. "Sorry, your request was blocked by our automated security systems." I am not sure what, if anything, I am doing incorrectly.

Really good app mostly. I love the clean design and it's most of its features, they're really useful and help me every day. However, there's this one bug where if I check the train departure times, and I try click on one of the routes, let's say Hainault via Newbury Park at Leyton Station, it gives me the fullscreen departure which I want, for West Ruislip, which is the wrong route.

After an update, the log in page to manage payments endlessly loops after tying in email address, password and code sent by text, making it impossible to top up the oyster. The original score was 2 stars but I have bumped it up to 4 for a speedy response from TfL and after uninstalling, reinstalling and turning WiFi off and on, managing payments works as it should. Otherwise, it is a worthwhile app to use.

I hate this app. The bus times seem to be way off. Google maps seems to be more accurate. I opened this app and saw the bus was in 18 minutes. I started walking then it passed me a minute later. In the past you could view the status update on the website and it showed you which line and which sections were closed. Now it's just a list and you have to work out yourself if you can make your journey. If you want to take a multi bus journey then it will show..I've reached the limit.

Can't the app be set to instantly update when you touch out at the destination stn? It initially said "destination unknown" & that the full amount will be taken & gave the option to apply for a refund, but when I checked later it showed the destination, which means if I had applied for a refund it would've confused things & I could've topped up again unnecessarily, thinking I had no money.

A clean/accessible UI but the usefulness of this app remains 50:50... Despite having notifications turned on for my line TfL did not warn me that it's suspended (due to a planned closure) for two weeks. Not helpful when you're on a replacement service which is making you late (I don't remember seeing any publicity for this major closure either). Additionally, even when Trams are running normally at the line termini the app displays the arrival time of the services instead of departure time!

very limited, fixing my journey for the exact time with 1 option only, and when I update it, the option changes to something else while I am on the bus, and couldn't find the changing stop name. Just like British quick knee jerks I see often. screen capture the route before getting on the bus recommended by this app, guys.

Card Payment does not work Update: works when not on WiFi as recommended. Update: This bug has now been fixed and I am able to top up on WiFi as well! Great job on the communication :) Update (Feb 2026): Card payment is broken again! This really is a very problematic app.

Its doing fine job. I think it could be improved by utilising NFC compatibility to top up an oyster card instantly rather than waititng 30mins to touch in onto the yellow reader. Also an ability to claim refunds. also for the countdown , ability to see live buses by utilising their GPS from transponder would be beneficial to see how far are they from the stop.

A good app overall but could do with some improvements. Bus routes should be shown on the map with a line just like on Google Maps; some people understand things better visually as opposed to reading text. Therefore, the line on the map would help a lot. The IDF Mobilités app for Paris has a great function where the app can read the contents of the NAVIGO card (tickets) using the NFC connection and this is what is missing from the TfL Go app to be able to check the remaining balance.

App is terrible. Credit on card is right in one section and wrong in another. impossible to navigate. Manage Profile to see journey history!!! and all I want to see as a visitor is how much it costs to go from a to b to check I have enough balance, also impossible to find. Also had to re credit my card twice as I did not tap in within 4 days of putting a credit on my cards. wow! so sorry for trying to plan ahead.

Most of the app is good but they need to fix an error that I get every time I open the app: When I click Buses, I can't access when the next buses are coming, for my parents and relatives, it works for them but when I do it, I can't access the bus. Overall, 4 stars

I have overall mixed feelings about the UI, however they removed the unnecessary full screen mode and the top bar is again always visible. During a massive Elizabeth line disruption it was consistently crashing when clicking "all departures" for that line from Paddington. Later on during the day it worked again.

Writing this after the app led me to believe that I could catch the last bus of the evening, but no bus arrives and the app just acts as if it never existed (clearly some sort of hallucination). this is on top of the fact that it has extremely limited functionality compared to other maps apps. No London map, no bus map, can't look at bus arrival times at specific stops unless you turn on location (and still only shows you nearby stops). Extremely disappointed and uninstalling now.

in the app the Buses feature doesn't work. It keeps saying not connected to tfl! I am unable to get live updates at all bus stops. also doesn't show any of the stops. have tried uninstalling the app and re-installing it, to no avail.

Difficult to search for appropriate places (tried to find and navigate to Tottenham Court Road tube from Paddington area). All sorts of options. Just wanted a clear route to the right place using either tube or bus. Seems nothing in life is simple ☹️

There's no way to give feedback within the app so I'm leaving it here. I can't add my fairly new oyster card to the app! This is a basic function of the app to have your oyster card on it. Tried for a couple of weekends now. I've made sure the app is up to date. ...maybe I'll try on a weekday. ... Thanks for your reply. Yes my new oyster card is already registered on my account. .... .... FIXED. oyster card already showing without me having to add to the app. Fantastic 🙂
