Torchlight Infinite is a pretty decent game, with some minor glitches. The game plays smoothly, the mechanics allow for molding to your play-style, and the art style is appealing. Like most dungeon-crawlers, grinding is a major mechanic, but the level designs keep the game feeling fresh. While there is an in-game store, I haven't felt pushed towards paying real money to advance. There are some noticeable glitches that can be a bit confusing, especially with the complexity of player builds. 8/10
Played about as much as I could. High quality in many ways, but the player is immediately beset by seasons, limited time sales, battle passes, daily check ins, challenges, etc. It is quite fatiguing. Voice acting and storytelling seems sub par. Gameplay feels like it could be fun but felt shallow in the time that I played. I felt sort of disconnected from the game rapidly and lost interest about halfway through the second level. I just could not keep going.
The game is ok nd mostly fun.Im just not understanding why there is no way that i can see to earn premium currencies other than buying them. I have a bunch of the broken shards, just have no idea what to use them on. Looks like all the other character are locked behind a pay wall or battle pass. On a game play note i would love to see different color indicators for different types of damage. Or maybe a damage breakdown so i know how much the elemental add on are actually doing. Fire, ice, rotetc.
It can be a fun game... I read reviews about it turning into a cash grab from mid to later game. I took it with a grain of salt and figured I would see for myself. Unfortunately, those reviews were correct. Massive cash grab just like it's Blizzard competitor. When the monetary offers are necessary to compete in game and keep pace with the majority of others, "optional" purchases seem more and more like an absolute necessity. So sad to see. Fun game, but personally I can't support cashgrabs.
It's like a brighter colored diablo mobile. Currency is hard to earn but only a micro transaction away, the classes don't seem to matter, you just walk forward and push the attack button every second or so. Lots of little systems you're supposed to keep track of, but it doesn't seem like it matters. Just gear, and you can buy some pretty good gear for cash money. Graphics aren't bad. But it's not fun
It's fun at first but becomes dully repetitive. I was also having this weird connection issue with the game, where it would kick my phone off my wifi. I would have to disconnect and reconnect my wifi every 10 minutes or so of playing. It would only happen with this game and became an inconvenience not worth dealing with. Also, legendary weapons never help you mold a build with unique abilities. They're just better stated, and the character building is done through skills and upgrades.
Looks great, plays well and easy to control. Unfortunately this will eat up your battery like crazy, 10% in less than 10 minutes not to mentionit heats up your phone. Also requires constant connection to the internet and even with great internet this game somehow disconnects often. Lastly the skill system is too confusing. You have to purchase the skill then equip it, it's possible to accidentally purchase the same skill twice, there's no reason for that.
it's a really fun game so far. like a jack and slash mixed with a dungeon crawler. I love all the classes and that you can grind for stuff for free. my only gripe is that it needs way more tutorials. I find myself at lavel 77 not knowing how to get activation skills and candles. it's a bit frustrating to figure out yourself. I also think every item in game should have a source so you know how to get it.
I'm giving this game 2 stars in comparison to Torchlight 1-3. I figured with Infinite, the developers were going to step up their game and bring us the best experience a Torchlight fan has had so far. To my dismay, it's the EXACT opposite. No controller support, which is essential for this type of game. You don't even see your new armor on your character. In a game that has always done so throughout it's series that is all about loot, not showing new gear kinda defeats the whole purpose... Meh.
Terrible, hypocritical developers. Promised multiplayer - didn't deliver. Made fun of Diablo for pay to win functions, then included many of the exact same implementations. The game has zero multiplayer aspects - besides an auction house. A far-cry from the promised player to player trade, and fully co-op story. If you are looking for an actual Diablo competitor - it's Undecember. I had much higher hopes for this, but these developers straight up lied and misrepresented their product. Shame
It's colorful and engaging. Could use better tutorials, but interface isn't too difficult to learn. Best thing is there are no loot crates. There are microtransactions but they seem mostly about cosmetic gear. After playing Diablo Immortal, this is a refreshing thing to see. Story is kinda eh, still don't really know what's going on, but the different skill customizations are fun to mess with. Worth giving it a shot, any game that isn't fully PTW is worth praise in my book!
They quite literally promised for this game not to be paid to win. The end game completely relies on drop pets, and a combat pet for your chosen build. These are only obtainable with real money. There are also a plethora of other things that cost real money. Not to mention they copied so many aspects of Path of Exile (PoE), that it's a blatant copyright violation. If they were going to copy PoE they should have copied their marketing strategy. They only sell cosmetic items, very successfully.
The game itself isn't bad but the fact that they decided to lock basic quality of life features like auto loot pickup behind a subscription service is enough to turn me away. They bragged about these features and included them in the alphas and betas, but now expect you to pay $60 a year for the privilege. I paid less for all of the PC Torchlight games combined. The quality of the experience (or lack thereof) doesn't justify the current pricing model.
It looks amazing, but all you have to do to play is move your character and hold attack. Might as well have an "autoplay" option where you watch your character play thru the levels, because that's about how much involvement you get in the game. Gear doesn't show up on your character, weapons might have one or two textures on them, so the grind for loot is pointless.
Generally, the game is good. There are plenty of things to do and smooth transitions between locations. FPS is stable. That being said, the monetization is horrible. You will never be able to achieve the same progress in the same amount of time as someone with level 6 pets. The predatory system is designed to exploit basic human instincts, making it difficult for those without strong willpower to resist the urge to swipe (spend money).
The good: Even with the P2W system it is still a Play2Win game where it's balanced enough to have fun without spending or with the minimum spending of a Season Pass. It's heavily influenced by POE and not in a cheeky/cheap way, the devs give their own take on what makes POE a really fun game. The bad: As I would really love to give it a 5 stars or even 4, I'll give it a 3 star and only because of one of the worst controller support I've seen in any video game that allows controller support.
It's pretty nooby so far. I hope it gets a LOT tougher than what I'm seeing. I googled whats a good substitute for Diablo Immortal. This is what it gave me. This is NOT Diablo or anything at all like it so far. Diablo is the greatest game I've ever played on a mobile device and it rivals a lot of other games on other platforms. so far this isn't that and I honestly can't believe this is the suggestion. Still, the controls and gameplay are really fun if you aren't looking for anything difficult
I downloaded it, then it had to download again.. and then it had to initialize, which was slow. then it asked to restart and it had to initialize again real slow. stopped waiting at 25% and get rid of this trash. What the hell were these people thinking.
fun to play. graphics good. although in consumes a lot of memory. but over all good. maybe you need to add. a lot more summonings to a minions class skill. . if I'm satisfied after playing this game I might change it to 5star.
3 years later, I'm still playing. Great game. Players are super nice and helpful... Mostly. The gacha aspect might not be for everyone but overall still a fantastic game. Changed my original review to this.
