Not great at all. It worked for 2 days after I got my new car... now when I try to open the app, all it says is DOWN TIME.... and that there are technical issues. For at least 2 weeks it has been like this. Even though it will still let me know when doors are unlocked, I tap the push notification and can't open the app from there either. I still own a Hyundai and its app works flawlessly and I've never paid a dime for it. Crazy, huh???
I have enjoyed the app immensely the past year with my free subscription. Now I have to pay a monthly fee to continue. I literally only want the remote subscription, but they force you to combine it with either a navigation app or a music lovers app, both of which you don't need if you use Android Auto or Apple to connect to your vehicle. There should be an option for only the remote, be realistic with your consumers needs, this isn't an inexpensive service you are providing. Do better.
The app itself works pretty well, though I still get some notifications I turned off. So why the 2 stars? My free trial of Remote Connect ended. I'll pay for it, it's convenient. But I can't. I HAVE TO pay twice as much for a bundle of Remote Connect and something else I don't want. So instead of Toyota getting me to pay 100 bucks a year for something I actually want, I'm going to buy a 30 dollar airtag and just live without the other features. Dumb.
Update: An update was done, but the pay feature STILL doesn't work. I tried to use the online website, but can't remember my username and going through the email steps they say "your username is ___". Literally, just blank. No username attached. I'd give negative stars if I could at this point. The pay feature doesn't work. Hasn't worked in months, just says something went wrong on their end and to try again later. I used to be able to start and lock from the app but that's now extra I guess
Remote climate control start just broke. Right when we're in a heat wave. In October. Darn climate change. The app used to be able to locate the car too, years ago. Other than seeing the odometer reading, I'm not sure there's any functionality left. The dealer that I use for service prefer to schedule using their own website, so that aspect of the app isn't useful either.
The app had always been pretty lackluster but at least I could lock/unlock the car from my phone. Now I've come to find out that the few remote options I had were part of a trial and now behind a monthly pay wall. It's ridiculous that I should have to pay a monthly fee for a handful of remote controls, those sort of features should be a given! Way to dime and nickel your customers, Toyota.
Don't believe any photos or promotional materials that show on-board navigation. You can KIND OF have on board navigation if you can connect Apple Play. However if you use any other type of smartphone, the in-car display console is an expensive mostly useless piece of plastic. You can run music & phone calls through, but that's about it. Since about a year or 2 ago they decided to stop supporting all other on board apps.
when it works correctly, It's a very convenient feature. But it rarely connects my phone to the car correctly the first time. It does get there eventually though. I'm listed as the primary user in the computer but it almost always preloads my husband's and he's not even in the car. those hiccups aside though, it's nice being able to lock your car remotely if you forgot.
What a rip off! You only get 3 months of trial when you buy a car? Most brands give years of free use before charging you. And then they charge you $15?! That is way too much and you don't even have great features. You can't set a length of time for remote start like you can on other apps. This app is not worth the high cost. Toyota you need to do better. You are supposed to be a value brand not a brand that rips you off.
It only connects when it wants to connect. Actually, it sometimes takes over my phone, forcing it to connect even though I don't have the Bluetooth connected or the app enabled. My husband is supposed to be the primary, and it still tries to connect to my phone first. It doesn't matter who enters the car first, it almost always tries to connect to my phone rather than his. AND it only does the commands it wants to rather than do as the settings have been noted. An aggravating app.
Worst app ever! And its something I have to pay for! I will be buying an aftermarket remote start kit for a few hundred dollars because paying $9 a month for an app that works 20% of the time is dumb. Not only is the the worst app on my phone, it's the only one I have to pay for. But I need remote start. Even though it takes 5-10 trying before it works. It is a total rip off that they make you pay for this junk app for remote start!
One of the worst apps I have ever used, and keeps getting worse. Nothing works, there is absolutely no quality control on this app and you will be constantly amazed by how many new bugs are introduced in each release. Login will fail for no reason and with no explanation, it will sometimes crash repeatedly until you reinstall, or il will get stuck forever while performing some operation (e.g. if download the digital key on a device with developer mode).
Never got in, always ended sitting with a spinning circle. I tried multiple times across various times and over a number of days. Even uninstalled and re-installed the app with no luck. Tried getting into the app while sitting in the car, no luck. Tried with and without WiFi. Can't speak to how the app is if you do get in, see other reviews for that.
WHEN the app works its fine, nothing special but it starts my truck and gives me a bit of basic info. That said, the app s*!%$ the bed in the morning around 85% of the time, which is of course when I need it the most being that I live in a cold weather state. It wouldn't be as upsetting though if this was just a nice app they made to be good to customers, but it' not, it's a bought and paid for service. At that point I find it really upsetting to put up with. Hope they work on this.
Extremely disappointed with this app, I pay about $60 in services. The app was fine before the update, since it's updated its been nothing but trouble. Now I can't even get into my app, which is really inconvenient because I can't remote start my car to warm it up. I have a Prime SE, it's just really disappointing when you pay that much for a car and even more for the services, for it to not work. 👎🏽
The app was working fine, until it wasn't. It logged me out, won't let me use biometrics without first entering a username and password again, and won't let me enter a username and password at all. My app is up to date, I've cleared the cache, and I've uninstalled/reinstalled, but the issue persists. There are features I pay for that are only accessible in the app, like remote start, that I cannot use because your app won't let me log in.
This is one of the most unreliable apps I've ever used. when it works it's great because I can start my car or lock/unlock it from anywhere. plus I like the climate control feature. However, it's only ever able to connect to the vehicle maybe 50% of the time. the remote start feature "fails to connect" all the time which is beyond frustrating. I live in Michigan winters with no garage so the remote start is a must have so I don't waste time scraping off my car. please fix connectivity issues
I have used the app for the 2 years I have had the Toyota vehicle. I subscribe to Remote Connect. Now suddenly, without notice, I am unable to access it. When I try to update or reinstall it tells me my phone is no longer compatible. That only S series Galaxy Phones are compatible, not the A series. I am extremely disappointed that only the most exonsuve phones are compatible and that there was NO notice of this change. I would rate this with zero stars if I could.
The previous version was so much better. The revamp makes it impossible to know if your remote start worked or how much time is left on the timer. You can't turn on defrost. For a service you have to pay for (which itself is ridiculous) to take away features with a version "upgrade" is bad service. To add insult to injury I have written to customer twice and asked if maybe I was missing something and no response. So unless there is a new release that returns and enhances features I won't renew.
One of the worst car apps I've ever had. it forces you to set up a pin on your phone, to access it. Personally I use other biometric safety features in my phone but a pin is not one of them. No other car app requires this. It's a pay to play after one year if your car is new, All you really can do is turn the car on or off, or lock the doors. Hard pass.
