Range Extenders in AP mode lose Internet connection. I can get the range extenders connected to the router, but as soon as I switch them from wireless extensions to Access Point mode everything falls apart. The range extenders lose Internet connection. I've set them up countless times, trying many different things, and it leads to the same issue over and over. For $150 - $200 a piece, this setup process is garbage. For that price, it better be flawless. About time I return to get my $600.

Tp-Link what happened to you? At the beginning of this year I had no issues. Now I'm continually having problems. I pay a subscription and it doesn't do what the app says it's doing. It will make me log in 5-6 times and tell me the password I know is right is wrong until I get a popup that I'm locked out- then it lets me in! I continue to have problems with the service I pay for being active in the app. I actually preferred to use this more than any other but now? time for another brand.

Password management is garbage. Update: As of Jan 2026, parental controls have been removed from the app. You can block devices, but option is gone for scheduling device on line times and also no longer records or shows how long a device has been connected. Will be replacing this router with a different brand, which is too bad, since the hardware has been reliable. And password management is still garbage.

Fails to show correct upload and download for pretty much every device. Does not display network speed. Riddled with ads for their subscription services (if your free services don't work, what possibly makes you think I would trust your paid ones?) Overall, just a horrendous experience. Should have bit the bullet and bought Ubiquiti.

super easy to setup. I was surprised it went so easily. Do yourself a favor and write down your old SSID and password from the previous router and use that info during the new routers setup. This will make it so all of your devices will auto connect saving you SERIOUS time. other than that the interface is simple. click the + sign and the app does the rest. super easy.

Update. The app is mostly unresponsive. When it does "work", I have to perform each action at least twice Update. Every time that I want to view the router, I click on it and then it says I'm not connected to the network. Update. Still not fixed. Why do they want you to pay a subscription when the features never work. Most features don't work all of the time. It's very hit or miss for the controls. Worked marginally OK before, now it's worse. It's very slow to start and sync to wifi.

I agree with Withkeys Quilkert. "It does what it does best. Access to the router configuration through the cloud as well as locally on network in an easy GUI. However, more needs to be done to secure access to it besides just a password for cloud account. They need to allow multi-factor authentication and track logins to the cloud account. Until they address that, I do not recommend allowing the wifi router access over the cloud. Once password is compromised, it gives unauthorized users access.

12/03/25 1.5 years later and app is worse. 2024 Update is buggy. Takes much longer to load, harder to block and unblock a client, profiles take a long time to load or do not load at all and if you want to temporarily access a blocked website you have to delete it as there is no option to "unblock" it. The app is getting worse. Frustrating. As of late it seems to be selective about which computers it will allow access to. I have even removed computers from the service and they still are blocked.

Constantly asks me to enter my device password. The password has remained unchanged and when I try to log in using the saved password, it will say it's incorrect until all of a sudden it decides on the fifth attempt that "oh actually that's right this time!'. It has resulted in me being locked out from the device settings multiple times because it doesn't want to recognize the password before it reaches the max failed attempts.

I have not used this service in a year and a half and I am still being charged despite attempting to cancel over 10 times. There is no easy to find billing support, and it's still able to change you despite canceling and changing banking information 3 times. I've got all new cards and accounts, my next step is to either change banks and see what happens or sue TP Link for all the money and time they've cost me over the last 1.5 years. I would definitely suggest never using this service

This app and the devices were great, but when I upgraded from an AX6000 to BE9300 I lost the ability to schedule a different weekend bedtime to weekdays without having to pay a subscription. You put a simple feature that is free on other routers and put it behind a pay wall. instead for paying you for this greed I will no longer use your brand.

Becoming less impressive over time. The first year it was fine, not exceptional, but for the most part it did what I needed it to do. Over the past year it's gotten worse. Frequent connection issues, slower speeds, often saying it's not connected when it is. I very much limit the number of devices that can connect to it, keeping most as very low usage devices. The 5G connection is HORRID and painful to use. I'm switching to a different brand.

While the initial setup was a BREEZE, the continued use of the app leaves a bit to be desired. I would like to have an option to get a push notification when a new device connects to the network. I also cannot actually see the devices connected reliably. Sometimes over half of them just say unknown with no indication of even what type of device it is. At least then you could narrow it down possibly but as is it's pretty useless. The router works beautifully and for that I'm grateful.

I thought I would give this app a second chance because I wanted more flexibility in managing our router unit. And, even though my unit is on their compatible list, the app could not find it, so it could not connect to it. After multiple reboots, it still could not find my unit. The router (Archer C9) itself seems to work fine, but for some reason, this app can not find it and connect. TPLink doesn't seem to offer any solutions.

Update: Now we have reached the lowest point. The app can not even detect my devices anymore. Have an Archer C9 and a extender RE450 and it can't detect them even though I'm connected to the WiFi. Awesome work TP-link, you've managed to make a crappy app even worst. You went from having a decent parental controls mechanism to one that now is complete garbage. How do you go from ok to extremely bad? Before I was able to set different schedules on a per day basis on each device. Now that ability is gone. Either you set the same time for each day on each device, or you have to do it directly on the router. The app was somewhat useful in the past, now is just useless from that point of view.

After using custom flashed firmwares forever now, I was surprised at the configurability of this router. The panel is laid out pretty well, though it does have a few quirks. I'll chalk them up to "growing pains" in having to familiarize myself with a new device's settings. I was going to leave off a star, because it didn't connect easily and I couldn't change certain settings until it was online. I was stuck in setup wizard mode, which is not the app's fault. Since I am rating the app it's rad!

Used to work, but now it doesn't. I have a archer c7 v4... For a couple of years. The app did work, but now says "no device detected". I've tried both access points, rebooted the router, phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app but no go. I can connect to setup via ip so all is not lost, but I no longer have use of the app. It's been a while since I attempted to use the app, I wonder when an update futzed it up?

I really wanted to like this app. But so many features just do not work. Clients list never shows any connected clients - even when there are dozens in reality, the list is always empty. Also I've set the name of my routers several times and they keep resetting back to "Archer_C7". Very frustrating when we have several different routers, and they all have the same name. You have to log in to each, one by one, and tell which is which by the Wifi name. Very disappointing.

This app was OK, but now that tplink, and others are trying to milk subscription fees.... forget about it. I recently upgraded my tplink router, to a newer one. I actually had less parental control with the new one than the old. It's got back to the store. Moving on to another brand to get better features, and more frequent updates, without needing to pay extra.

Half the time when I try to log into my router, it tells me "Login failed. You may be connected to a guest network (I'm not), limited by Parental Controls (I'm the parent), or your network may be unstable (I have fiber)." So it is pretty useless most of the time. When it does work, it's great and the parental controls are a really nice feature. It's just not being able to access and use those features more than half the time (and times when I really want to use them) that is super annoying.
