Every time I try to look up a trail in the middle of it an ad to purchase pops up and forces me to start over. It's really not worth the aggravation. All these trail/rec/camping apps want me to purchase a 1 year $30+ fee. There's no way I'm doing that. I would do a 1x fee maybe on some but not paying $35 a year. I can bike and camp maybe 5 months if the year.

Love it. I use it weekly at least, and it is great. I love the reviews of each trail and search for information about how much shade they have! Also, details about the parking situation, trail surface, etc. I do wish there were more pictures. Personally, I can't figure out how to give the app enough permissions to add photos. I allowed access to my camera and photos but I still get a pop up telling me that I need to do so. Glitch?

The trail maps are generally good. However, requiring a subscription keeps me from using this app currently. I used to buy credits to buy full access to just the specific maps that I wanted. There isn't enough value to pay $29.99 annually. Honestly, who is really going to need this level of access. Once you get the trails within 50 miles or so, then it'll just be an occasional need for a map - which can easily be had from dozens of free sources. They priced themselves out of the game... For me.

Way to pushy to purchase full version. You don't even get a chance to explore what this app is capable of because they push you too buy it to much. When it pops up to buy it, which it does every 60 secs it seems like, it resets everything. Great for finding trails, but the pushing to buy without getting a chance to explore is a turn off. I uninstalled instead of purchasing.

Heavily pushes purchases of maps. Will stop showing you map details, locations of trailheads, ECT after a few seconds. Without making purchases this is just a list of trails with vague locations, and each map is individually purchased, so if you want to go to a new trail, you have to buy a new map to know where it starts. I don't need a detailed map of a straight 2 mile trail, I need to know where to park and where it ends. This app is Not helpful.

The app is really nice, especially when some trails aren't marked very well. It gives you live updates on your location. There are a couple things I don't like about it though. I don't like that it doesn't show me parking access on my phone, but it does show me on my PC. Also, I wish it would show me miles between check points without me having to research the addresses for start and end points. Other than that, I've enjoyed the app so far.

I enjoyed using the one trail I got with my free map credit, but I needed more trail maps. So I decided to just go and the 15 credit option. It errored out but still took the money out of my account. So I basically paid money for nothing, and it doesnt seem like I can get my purchases applied to the app. What a waste of memory space. Don't waste your time or money on this app.

I wish the search feature was more user-friendly. It won't let me search a specific area on a map for trails. Always comes up with trails near me. If I want to find a specific trail in another area, this app is tiring. I can type the name and location of a trail in the search feature, and nothing comes up. I don't change any of the other filters , so it is a broader search. Too many times when I search this way, no results come back. Very frustrating

Update: they allotted me the credits I purchased and are aware of the problem; rating revised accordingly. I just tried to purchase map credits to download a trail map and despite the purchase going through, the credits were not added to my account--I got an "unable to report receipt!" error three times and no credits were added. I should have 17 credits but I have zero, tried restarting my phone and everything. Nice idea for an app, but I feel robbed. Not a way to treat paying customers.

Couldn't even log in on my mobile device (Android) Had issues on PC as well (Firefox). Customer service was nice but wanted me to call in to troubleshoot. I found another similar app with free service and less hassle. Now I'm in the process of trying to get my account deleted as I don't see that as an option, which is never a good thing.

This app doesn't work at all! I wanted to revisit a great trail that is located in Milton, FL. I was unable to find it on the app. This app doesn't show trails as you zoom in. It doesn't even list trails in an area. In short, it works nothing like the rails to trails website (which is fabulous). I can't get this app to do anything useful. There's lots of icons - but clicking them gets me nowhere. I recommend using the rails to trails website and just avoid this app

Shame on me for downloading this app without reading the reviews. After using the 1 free map I really enjoyed the features. I went ahead and purchased map credits to download more maps as we are planning on doing alot of biking this summer. Purchased map credits 2 days prior to our trip, and now have to come uo with an alternate plan because there are no credits and no response from support. Guess we will call the waste of money "stupid tax".

Seems to have a lot of useful information for the first 30 seconds, but then it is hidden and you're asked to pay $30/year to access that info. I tried with two different accounts to download the "free map" but each time the credit was deleted before I could select a map to download. If the maps are as good as they appear, I'd be willing to pay $5/map to download them, but an annual subscription doesn't seems worth it at that price.

Terrible app compared to the website. On the map view it plasters the screen with giant cards that tell you no useful information. You can remove them, but unlike the website the map doesn't show any of the trails, just little icons. In order to actually see a trail, you have to click thru several slow menus just to see the trail is tiny or uninteresting.

I'm in the desert southwest and this app doesn't bring up any local trails or natural areas when searching by name or by specific area. You have to scroll through the entire list of entries (hundreds of them) instead. Search function returns a constant error or "not found" message. Looked great, but not useful when it came time to hike!

I went to buy my credits to purchase a map and it came up with "couldn't process receipt" and I don't have any credits. If you are just looking to use this app to preview the trail you want to go on, it easy just to look and see where you would be going and parking and riding/running/walking. Don't waste your money on buying credits it's not worth it!

Trails are linear and interconnect with other trails. The mapping in this app shows none of that. It's not very helpful to show an arbitrary single point on the map for a trail. Yes you can click on it and view just that trail, but it shows no connecting trails. Native Google Maps does a better job. The single trail details are helpful, but are cleared when the upgrade prompt pops up. Also clicking on a trail causes an unnecessary wild scroll through all trails in the area - Chicago has many.

I'd prefer the "trails near me" map to show the trails in their entirety, not just the trailhead. It is too clunky to click: Trailhead icon > Trailhead pop-up > View trail map, just to see where the trail goes. Furthermore, this creates a disjointed view of trails that are connected, for example, the Empire State Trail is broken up into segments, so almost like a triptic, you have to go back to the "trails near me" map to then find the next section.

Charging people to download a map is NOT free! How can you charge people and say its free? I'm pretty sure that's not how free works. At first, you're led to believe that you have a whole smorgasbord of trail maps at your fingertips. They even let you browse a few for a short time and you think "what an amazing app! Oh, 5 stars!". But then all of a sudden ( and I'm glad I waited to give a review ) it stops. Now you have to pay. Very crafty although you guys are supposed to be a nonprofit. Shame

Why would I want a trails app that is completely useless without paying? I can zoom in and out on a trail, but I can more easily use Google for that. Multiple other apps have at least partial free functionality. I'm hiking this much because, like millions of others, I am furloughed. Now is not a good time for any pay-to-play app, I'm afraid.
