Yet another update, and more glitching and bugs. Now it doesn't always send notifications when I get messages. Also now everytime I log in I have to go through and change my settings again and again. The app will freeze after a couple minutes and close whatever blog you're looking at and either reload and take me to home screen or it just closes out. The app has been getting worse lately, not better after the updates. this company really needs to find some talented developers

I've had this app on every phone I've owned since 2014 and I haven't had it freeze and glitch before. I'll be scrolling and the screen will start shaking, images/gifs/videos will start freaking out, and random letters in text will disappear before the app crashes and closes itself. I've uninstalled, wiped all tumblr related data, and re-downloaded, but to no avail. Haven't been able to use the app for more than a few minutes at a time for over a year.

The app is incredibly buggy and glitchy. There used to be maybe one ad every 10-20 posts, now it's every third post and it's the same ad over and over. Search functions are wacked, mobile has less freedom than web (ex. Only 10 photos per post on mobile, up to 30 on web). It really sucks that this app's functionality is so bad, because it's really the only social media I can really tailor to what content I want to or don't want to see.

Getting inconsistent notifications for DMs is infuriating. I'm not one to ignore my friends, so it would be nice if the app did its very simple job and notified me when I get a message. Sometimes it does, but it fails to send a push notification when a DM is received far, FAR too often for my liking. I've checked both settings in my phone and the app, too, so I know this isn't my fault. Edit: dropping this to one star, not even support has answered this one for me

Fix your POS app! How many times do people have to complain about it until its addressed? the mobile version crashes randomly just by browsing random posts and its been happening for a long time. Is this gonna be ignore indefinitely? The frustration is not worth keeping the app. I know I'll get an automated reply about contacting Tumblr support. I'm not the issue, the app is. if you want me to replicate the issue, I'd just need to open the app and use it. That's it. FIX IT!

Really annoying how it keeps morphing closer and closer to every other social media app. Me and most other users are there because it's so different from other social media apps. The last update taking away the notes and separating like, reblogs, and replies feels way too similar to twitter/x. We liked it the way it was. I'm not sure what these types of changes are hoping to accomplish.

The new push towards the marketability of individual users has gone too far. Individual images shouldn't be posts and when I tap on one image and swipe away don't show me a completely different post. I didn't click on it. Don't change it. I don't follow that person so don't show that on my dashboard. I'll never use your For You because this is a goddamn blogging platform not the next InstaTikBook. Idk LISTEN to users..... 3 years later I edit my review to say that this app has only gotten worse

ive been getting hounded for days across both of my blogs to rate how I like tumblr even when I hit no thanks I still get another "please rate us!!!!" notification so here, im rating you now, are you happy. The newest update did nothing to ease the use of the app, amd has made it harder to see the total number of notes, and access those notes, hiding everything behind more button presses when the previous UI was extremely easy and intuitive to use. this is a constant problem you see.

Really good app besides not having good ways to make certain ads go away. You can only report the ads and then if they find nothing wrong, then you can risk seeing them again. I've seen some ads that made me uncomfortable. And wish there was a button of I just don't like this ad or something like that. Because I shouldn't have to be scrolling. Looking at art and then be forced to see something that makes me extremely uncomfortable!

tried to log out of my acccount on the app. Not only did it not fully log me out, as I could still see my username, but but it also caused all other parts of the app to stop working and get stuck on a loading screen. This is a critical failure of an extremely basic function on a social media app. tried updating and will try reinstalling, but this bug ahould not have occured in the first place. Upon reinstallation I also got the new UI. The core feature of the system, reblogging, takes too long.

As others are complaining, it lags and it crashes, and it's been lagging and crashing for a while. If you only want to browse Tumblr for 1 minute at a time, then this is the app for you. If not, just stick to the browser version, better in every way. Edit as of 12/25: update claims to improve performance, complete bs. This is some of the worse crashing its had in a long while.

absolutely atrocious. the app just keeps getting worse the longer I use it, as someone that's been using it for years. every now and then I have to deal with broken ads that either lag the entire app or cause it to freeze, and now I can't even have the app open for longer than five seconds before it completely crashes and closes itself. side note, they've also completely removed fast queue for no apparent reason. it was one of my favorite features from Labs.

tumblr stop lagging, breaking, and crashing on me every 5 to 10 seconds challenge - difficulty: impossible. fix your stupid app, it doesn't work well enough like it used to anymore. Ads everywhere, sometimes ads every 1 or 2 posts. The ads are usually the sources of everything breaking. I don't think they're mobile friendly. Or something. I said to myself I was close to writing a bad review because of how awful everything has been lately and I just can't use it anymore so now I'm writing it.

Every other month there's an ad rollout that crashes the app within 20 minutes of operation. Right now it's an Amazon one. It's the only ad that plays, it plays automatically, and for some reason, the video takes up so much processing power that it lags the app to a crawl if you so much as see the top corner of it. It happens CONSTANTLY. at the moment it's nearly rendered the app unusable. I know you want people to buy premium, but allowing ads that sometimes hard-crash user's phones ain't it.

For the past 2 or so weeks I've gotten 2 full screen malicious pop ups claiming my phone has a virus, this has been without interacting with any of the ads on my dashboard. Both times were really alarming, as I've never had any problem with the tumblr app before this. On top of the full screen pop ups that come out of nowhere, without me clicking on any sort of advertisement, the app has also been lagging and crashing a lot.

Love the platform, but the app itself is a dumpster fire. As of right now, the app crashes after scrolling past the tenth post or so. Regardless, I genuinely do love Tumblr as a social media, but the app itself is (as of the current build) hot garbage. edit: after testing, it is %100 the Amazon ad of the two dudes cuddling in bed that crashes the app. As soon as you reach the post above that ad it slows, and crashes right after the ad begins playing in the background.

Everything seemed fine using the app up until I decided to clear the app's data and cache which caused the app to log me out. After I had logged back into my account, the app suddenly now keeps on automatically closing out on on me due to bugs and I don't know if it's because of a recent update, I wouldn't be suprised. Tumblr has really gone down the gutter with each terrible app update it releases and it's honestly tragic.

The latest UI update has made the app unusable, and despite disabling automatic updates so I could continue to use the app until bugs were solved or the update was rolled back—it was updated anyway! that's so weird! uninstalled immediately, and now will only use tumblr when I'm at my desk Update... so I redownloaded it to see if the update was reversed and it looks good again, no more missing note count. For now, at least. Still lags though.

latest update now has it crashing regularly for seemingly no reason. galaxy S24+ with no other apps open so it's not like it's a RAM issue. also has a glitch where photos will fail to save. sometimes it won't even give an error that it failed, and i've had to scroll old dash posts for 20 minutes on multiple occasions to find those things again. video player has also been basically unusuable since they tiktok-ified it and zooming in on photos is impossible as well. we don't need photo swiping.

The app has crashed my entire phone three times in the past two days. No warning, just completely freezing my phone and restarting it. I had the same problem back in August, but it seemed to be resolved after a week. It happens as I try to scroll past ads or visit a blog or even send posts to my friends. I am seriously considering switching to using Tumblr exclusively on my desktop if you guys can't be bothered not to break your users phones. And again, maybe screen your ads more carefully?
