Ultimate Guitar: Chords & Tabs

You can't do anything unless you pay their monthly fee. Also, I couldn't even find the app to uninstall it, I had to find it on Play store. It wasn't showing up in my apps section on my phone. Also, on top of that, it was listening in on my text messages with friends, with pop ups and suggested songs based on what I was typing in to my text messaging. Very invasive all around, and unusable without a fee. Very problematic app.

As a player of guitar, bass, and drums, I love this app. You pretty much need to get the subscription to do anything, but it's totally worth it and has so many songs to choose from! The only issue is the search function is picky about what you type in, a single misspelling or lack of a space makes the completely wrong song come up. Example: "Wipeout" vs. "Wipe out"

Downgraded from 5 to 2 stars. Every time I open this app, I'm bombarded with a game of 50 questions and a sales pitch. I ignore whatever it is they're trying to sell, all it does is frustrate me and waste time. Also, make the tuner easier to find! I'm trying to teach a child to play guitar and wanted to ensure it was tuned spot on... took 5 minutes to figure out that the tuner was buried in a menu after you chose a tab. nonsensical.

Good app for learning. The tabs are accurate, the MIDI covers make learning smooth, and the fact that you can learn almost every instrument in a song is great. However, when opening newly published official tabs, I'm unable to access them for weeks on end sometimes. Every time I try, it says that the tab is unavailable. I force stop the app, clear the cache, delete and reinstall it, but the same error message keeps popping up. It makes it irritating when I have to wait a week or more to learn.

Update 10/1/2024 I have now deleted, unsintalled on my phone, Samsung tablet, Apple tablet, computer. Every. Single. One. Freezes and can't be used - yet I'm still paying monthly. I have a video if you don't believe me of all the devices that previously worked before the update. Update : 9/28/2024... Apps still crashes and is slow. Everything has a delay and it keeps trying to save my "offline tabs" but won't and then crashes. App won't work, keeps crashing after uninstall, can't use it

I used to love this app. It was 15$ when I first started using it. It did everything I needed. Now it's gone up to 25$, and honestly, I'm not even sure what for! I can't share or print. Apparently, this simple service is an additional 40 dollars. It doesn't scroll right, and it doesn't provide full access to songs. It seems like any time I click any where there's a pay wall. I'm left feeling like... didn't I just pay you!?! UG, why so greedy? I'll be looking elsewhere and will not be renewing.

Was a great app, but for a couple years now, if I dont use it for a couple weeks, I have to fill out an unskippable survey. Getting bombarded by subscription ads isnt that bad, I can still use the app, but this stupid survey that no one can skip. Dont give people an email to a community service manager, give us a fix. What data do you gain from people filling out a form with the same answers, and then eventually filling out the form with random answers just to get past it?

I've paid for premium for years and still get an ad for it every time I open the app -- why?! Also, "recently viewed" is consistently missing lots of tabs that I've viewed. The app has become glitchy recently, sometimes search turns up nothing when you can find things on the website, and sometimes tabs/chords just load to a black screen and you have to restart the app. I wish there were more options in this space, their library is the only reason I stick with it.

Love it when it all works, which is hardly ever after each update, including this latest one. Freezes frequently & shuts down randomly. No longer has an icon to see other people's Shots for each tab. Only a Shots icon that opens to create your own Shot. Sometimes all features load when opening a tab, other times things are missing. Cannot scroll down to read all comments in the Comments tab, or exit it. No one responds when asking if they acknowledge all the glitches or are working on them.

Ok, It has some issues. eg. when a mug finna play the song in app, for to practice along w/ it, many times he is denied. Small, in the grand scheme but a thing. That said, LOVE the app. Comprehensive, functional, accurate, and reasonably priced. When I hear a song I like, I have to learn it. Its a compulsion I've not the weapons to combat. I also have a limited vocal range, so the key select feature is essential! Happy in the appy & super pleased to b able to change the keys. We'll done men.

I was pro for several years and was appreciative to be able to transcribe pieces, along with the vast song selection. I finally canceled my subscription because I couldn't stand the ads to upgrade to pro every time I used the app... AS A PRO. I also couldn't stand how it would randomly log me out and ask a long involved questionnaire about my music goals... usually when I was onstage and just needed access to my music IMMEDIATELY. I would love to come back to pro without app ads and form.

If I go any amount of time without using the app, like a week, I have to fill out a little quiz the next time I open the app to "personalize" my experience. I've been using the app for 7 years and literally just search for songs I want to learn. It's not skipable and it's very annoying. especially when it's followed by a popup asking me to pay for a subscription. Every other time I open the app I get a pop up asking me to pay for a subscription, even though I've already paid. almost a year ago.

I've been using this app for nearly a decade, and only now is it requiring me to pay for something I was already able to use for free. I had no issue transposing songs and accessing other basic functions, but now I can't adjust anything, my username has changed to my email, and the app keeps bringing up a window that I can't move past unless I subscribe for $30. I don't know if something changed with the app but I've never had to pay for anything—there's no purchases to even restore.

I'm tired of having to answer a survey and then decline a guitar class I don't want just to get into the app to open some tabs. I never know when it's going to pop up. I might understand if it's the free version, but I pay for a subscription. Please stop with the upsells, or at least add an option to quickly bypass this. It's incredibly annoying when it comes up unexpectedly and I'm trying to open a tab and am playing with other people.

I have been using Ultimate Guitar and Guitar Chords and Tabs since they both came out at least 15 years ago. You can spend a lot of money with Ultimate Guitar and if that's your bag, it's okay. I have entered chord charts for well over 400 songs in Chords and Tabs without an issue, but the difference between the two programs is the editor. Ultimate Guitar uses random players to edit the music, you may have your work poached buy an editor for the free month's membership.

It's sad to see how much the free version of this product has deteriorated since the 2010s. Ads make it nearly impossible to use. The prompts asking you to subscribe to premium block you from viewing the user generated tabs. You're better off writing down your own charts for the songs you like than using the free version of this app. :(

I've used Ultimate Guitar for about 15 years now and it pisses me off how it's changed. Features that were basic and free to the app for over a decade (such as transposing) are now locked behind an obnoxious pay wall. Every time I open the app, I'm bombarded with the same questionnaire like it's my first time ever opening it. I understand that they gotta make money, but 10 bucks a month is hardly realistic for a tab site. should be more like 3 or 4 tops. 2 stars for song selection. Should be 1.

Super annoying, tried to transpose on the web/browser version and it told me to download the app. Downloaded the app and turns out you have to pay for that feature. Nonstop pop ups telling me to get the pro version makes the experience very slow and frustrating. On the plus side the interface is slightly better in app so I can prop my phone up and play from user-submitted tabs and chords better I guess.

this app went from decent to unusable overnight!! newest update won't let me open a song to see all of the different tabs, it just opens the most popular one. I play BASS, and can't access any bass tabs anymore, even when I put on a filter for bass. not to mention that there's an unskippable ad... not even for another product, but just for the premium version, every time you select a tab.

The "updated" search functionality is genuinely terrible. Now instead of searching for a song and seeing all of the tab/chord options for that song, it instead opens the "recommended" tab/chord chart--even if you wanted one or the other. So now if you want to find a specific version of a tab, you have to go to the artist (where there is NO SEARCH FUNCTION) and scroll until you find the song you want. Just revert back, there was nothing wrong with search before.
