Scooter randomly stopped working halfway through a ride, so I had to manually push it forward. I tried ending the ride and restarting it, but that didn't work (but I did get charged two unlock fees …). I didn't get an automatic refund despite flagging the issue at the end. Submitting a support request for a refund is too much hassle (not worth the time); it should be automatic.
I almost never rate apps unless they're exceptional. Veo charges YOU for the flaws of their service - If one of their busted vehicles you rent refuses to "end ride" you pay for it until it runs out of battery ($36 after a prolonged correspondence to lower it.). Also, don't count on the ridable map territory being 100% correct, sometimes sections work and sometimes they don't, resulting in the possibility of riding a Veo to a location that's on the map and then being unable to "end ride." Scam.
For the most part, the bikes are very helpful and distributed evenly on my area. The support team has been fairly quick and understanding as well. However, several times recently I have encountered an issue when I start a ride. The bike moves for the first few seconds, then it power off. The app tells me I cannot park, because I am "outside the forced zone." I'm not sure what that error means, but it has forced me to walk the bike to where I found it, charging me in the meantime.
They charged $10 to load into your wallet. If you have issues, it's non-refundable! Not worth the hassle! Found a vehicle, started the ride but kept loading in the app. I tried to end it but I couldn't because the vehicle was in a red zone. I had to push the vehicle in a red zone to end the ride (while its alarm was going off because i was pushing it). I was never able to use another vehicle because they were all out of service. I had to go with the good ol reliable Razor!
In theory this is a great service. Lots of bikes and scooters all over town, convenient labeled parking areas, and easy payment. However, I've had several issues in just the few weeks I've been using it. Several times I've been charged for 0 minute rides because the bike locked without my input. Customer service hasn't responded to those issues. When I've reported mechanical issues with bikes, I've gotten no communication back, and no refund or rebate despite having bikes that were unrideable.
App often will have connectivity issues, and with the electric ride you're charged by the minute. A few extra seconds is 50¢ more, and I almost always have to close and re open the app just to stop them from charging me. It's convenient (sometimes) but the rides are almost always under maintenance and it's more of a hassle actually unlocking and locking one than it would be to just walk where you need to go. This app could be way better with some optimizations to how/when users are charged.
Cool. A little pricey per minute for most ppl, should probably have 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, daily, weekly, and monthly pre pay rentals at a discounted rate. I'm sure if VEO talks to their financiers, CFO, and game theory economics ppl they can figure something out. Could be a way of capturing more long term income and offering a bit of a discount. Currently the rate of $22.20 per hour is a bit steep, it's a new system tho. Lets see this system nationwide, it's neat!
Love the bikes, but the app needs a little work. It took us three tries at two different locations before the bike could be unlocked. My area had to be reset. There is an option to call for help, you ALWAYS have to leave a message. By the time my calls were returned 20-30 minutes later, I had already left the area. Yesterday, my geo area was messed up and it tried to charge me for an abandoned bike after Inhad returned it (and locked it) to where I got it.
If I could give 4.5 stars, I would. The scooter itself is much better than those from Spin that were on my campus last year. Fast acceleration, good speed, fairly easy to maneuver. The app was a little buggy at first (yet to see how it performs in the long run) - almost missed class because it wouldn't scan and I had to walk. But the customer service was really very good. Phone help available, quick to respond, fixed my issue. A downer start to the experience turned out to be pretty great!
A transit mode is worthless if it's unreliable, and it's called Veo. Service down errors on a lot of devices, those running mostly have charges below 30% with which u can't get anywhere, and they wouldn't even compensate for the cost of forced short trips. Plus, the weirdest thing; there is no scooters at some of the places explicitly marked on the map as it should, totally crazy. You won't be able to use it 75%+ of the time, and you'll find yourself losing a lot of time instead of saving any.
It's really good but a little expensive. Also, the app couldn't read the driver's license of my friend. On another note, I just rode once with veo since I was in a city where there were veo bikes available. But, now I am back to my home town where there are no veo bikes available and my money is stuck in the wallet. I need a refund of the balance in my account and there's no way to obtain it back.
I enjoy the veo app. The rates are good, the rides are ~typically~ maintained well, and I appreciate the variety of vehicles, but the $10 minimum has made it easier to use ANY other app. There have been several times when Veo was the best choice of transportation but the $10 minimum has led me to make another choice. It would be nicer if I could load the Veo wallet with an amount of my choosing, so that I could meet my specific riding needs. Today, I have to choose another app.
Bummer, I just left a really good review of this app, but after last night I'm not too impressed anymore. I was walking home from work looking for one of the bikes and the first THREE I tried did not work. When it said unlocked it was locked, when I finally got the ride to end on my phone, it unlocked. An hour of fiddling with the bikes around town before I finally found a good one. Oh and trying all of those bikes emptied my account! I sent in a repair on the app and didn't get credited back or anything.
The app is glitchy and poorly made. On the screen where you're supposed to add feedback about your ride, the text box is covered by keyboard on Android devices. It's been this way for at least a year and they haven't fixed it. The bikes themselves rarely work, normally I have to go through several bikes under to find a working one that unlocks properly. I often have to turn off my internet and restart my phone for the app to work.
The most fun you will have on 2 wheels And perfect for commuting to work, shopping, visiting friends. Easy to operate, cushioned, easy thumb operation. I LOVE VEO! The App is not perfect: Sometimes it reports that it was unable to unlock the vehicle when it actually did and the App will turn on your Bluetooth even when not in use or even if you are logged off. I have had to delete it at times and reinstall it when I needed it again to stop it from turning on Bluetooth.
Service requires $10 at a time taken from your payment method rather than pay as you go with other scooter apps do. The vehicles often do not work. The customer service is basic and awkward. They will not refund you your full amount, rather they take a "service fee." The app doesn't let you delete your account: you have to do business by email. Sketchy cheap business practices, inadequate service.
I'm not going to use this again. I wish the app better communicated where you can you can't go. Especially when you're in traffic and can't focus on where it says cant go. I couldn't even turn off the timer cuz it's not a designated area of parking. So I kept getting charged and I was panicking. I've made mistakes of putting in the wrong place at times but it's just these mistakes keep adding up. I couldn't get it to stop charging which made me panic. Sometimes the endride shodoesn't show up.
The software devs need to get their act together. The version from when I first bought the app had unhelpful pop-up errors and would randomly not work or log you out. After an update, I was logged in as what looked like a sample profile for debugging, and the place to input your name doesn't even work after you figure out how to get to your own profile. The only reason this is 2 stars is because I am still usually able to get a bike, but the overall quality of the app is exceptionally poor.
I have been disappointed more then happy! I don't rate apps very often but when I do it's either because it's very good and deserves the praise or the opposite. And this is the opposite! More often then not bikes don't even move once unlocked. And even though I paid for the 5$ membership to forgo tbe 1$ unlock fee I'm still getting charged .43 for not even moving!! Theft in my book. Got charges 30$ for a bIke that I couldn't submit end, no refund .save yourself frustration
Usually a two to three star experience bikes aren't placed in the best areas sometimes they don't work when you walk up to them they cut off sometimes when you're riding and there are some app problems but it can be very convenient at times and there's a lot of potential for it to become great they need to subsidize the price on it though, Citibike has better pricing, monthly pass, day pass, etc.
