very very useful app, especially in winter. waiting for the signs that car ferries and redjets are operating.
very good app for my work can keep track of boats 🚢 coming in and out of dock
Great app, used it while working at sea to track company vessels that were out of range of other systems, and use it now when visiting ports to see what's coming and going. Never had a problem with it and the ads are not intrusive. Edited to add that recently, the option to remove a ship from a saved fleet is not working.
Have recently been on a cruise and every time I checked vessel finder app, the reported position of our ship seems to tally with what I can see out the window / my phone's GPS, so can't see why people are saying the ship's positions aren't up to date. The app works well and I find it easy to locate ship's I'm interested in, or find out what the ship on the horizon is.
It's a good app as it shows me What vessels are where. I live near a Small port and the ships are regular visitors to it. I can easily see where they're going and can track them. I can also see other ships and the photos of some of them are incredible Sometimes. I hope to be able to have a boat. In the future. And. This app will come in very handy for finding ports to call to.
Inconsistent information displayed : I'm tracking 2 ships that are travelling together. When I do a search for one, the second one doesn't appear on the map (they are 5-10 miles apart) and when I search the second one, the first one disappear from the map (1min between the 2 search). Also other ships around don't have the same position between the 2 search... Happy to review my rating when this is fixed or explained
It's pretty good, just wish it could show the mile marker where the boats are located.
there is no gps locator on this, but it does seem to remember the last location. there is another app with this exact name making it confusing at times. if it can't find a ship it says - satellite position and nothing more. it seems to happen to ships inland and in the middle of the ocean. more often than not however, it can't seem to find anything about the main ships out in the ocean. it makes it really frustrating to use.
This app used to be very informative. Gave us the ability to locate and identify ships coming into our area so we could view them passing. Now it is completely worthless. No free data available at all. If you want any ship location information you must subscribe to satellite at $116/ month. Pro version is the same. I have Uninstaller & reinstalled three times. I give up. We're back to year 2000. Thanks for nothing, Vesselscam!
Besides the obligatory ads and urges to pay $100+ per year... not bad! Not up to date; but they're at the behest of the vessel owners, no way around personal privacy. Needs a call to arms for photo submissions and verifications of contributor data. SUGGESTION: Add a 'next' button that displays the next closest ship in the area; i had issues that stacked the dots, i couldn't get the data from 3 of 4 markers.
If you spend time on the water around Commercial Boating/Shipping this is a must. If you can read a chartplotter, You can easily identify any AIS equipped vessel to communicate with and maintain safe distances. If you can't read a chartplotter you shouldn't be playing around Commercial vessels in the first place ... Great App.
I've lost all the names of the fishing vessels I follow ,which stops me following there track and there distance out to sea , but only in my area . I can see all the vessel names a few hundred km of where I live . Has this site changed its user settings . It use to be a great site but if it won't let me in , time to change.
Originally downloaded the free version and it worked very well. Bought and downloaded the Pro Version and maps reluctant to load, uninstalled and got refund. Now have the free version installed again and the maps are almost useless as they either don't load or are so slow to appear. So it's a 👎 from me.
VesselFinder used to be a reliable app, but it has developed problems. When searching, it gives 5 vessels, none are the correct vessel! The app works for my husband. I've tried reinstalling, but problems persist. Developers ignore that if the app is frustrating, you are going to delete it rather than persevere!
Used to be a very good app, but recently it has become almost useless. Not showing all ships, and out of date positions. Hoped that problems would be resolved, but alas no. Uninstalling app and switching to Marine Traffic instead.
Good app, but up-to-date accurate location information is only available when using the paying version, which is quite expensive. CruiseMapper is therefore now a better option if you just look to track cruise ships.
Best app there is to track ships movement, but starting 3 days ago it doesn't want to open up anymore. Just shows the VesselFinder logo on my screen. Please fix, I work for the port & tie up ships. This is a necessity for me, as I use it everyday.
If you have a view of shipping lanes it's invaluable. Lots of information and pictures of the vessels. Fascinating to see wherebtheve come from and going to. Was particularly helpful when in lockdown. You realised there was still a world out there!
It's a good app to see the names of boats and ships, however if you're tracking them you need a gps because it does not show river mile markers. So, it's pretty much useless for any real vessel "tracking".
Very disappointing. Vessel Finder used to be very useful, but now 90% of the ships you tap on simply pop up a satellite subscription promotional that they want you to subscribe to. Not worth your money or time anymore. Find another app.
