I was offered a 50% off through capitalone but you showed the full price when I used my Capital One card to pay for it. You also don't list any term or conditions, and it was only valid for 1 day... It's a great deal but I have no clue.If i'm gonna get the reduced rate. also, they are gonna charge me a hundred and sixty dollars locally.So I didn't really save that much money.
something has changed since TripAdvisor bought or merged with Viator. BE WARNED...just because your pick up point is listed and you select, it doesn't mean your tour operator actually picks up at that location... leaving you struggling the night before to figure out how you are getting to pick up point. Customer service also just points out very fine print saying well it says that. 2 star until this is fixed, and actual looking at alternatives.
Should of read reviews before I used this app to book my excursion. Paid $115 per person using Viator to parasail. If I booked direct through the tour operator the cost was $90 per person. We were a party of 5 so a significant difference. When I called they said to write email and proof of cheaper price and they would price match. My request was denied. Customer service couldn't explain and I eventually just gave up after 3 unsuccessful phone calls. App good for research only. Don't book!
OVERPRICED. Every single tour I booked would have been 15-20% cheaper had I booked locally, from train rides to tours. Not only that, if you book locally, you get better times & more flexibility from operators. When I asked why, everyone said it's b/c Viator charges up to 35% in fees. No one likes dealing w/ them. WORSE: If you cancel, they hold your money for WEEKS, not DAYS. Customer service is a useless! Use the app for research at best, but DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THEM if you want the best deal.
They canceled my snorkel-sail excursion (that was booked 4 months in advance, by the way)! Legit almost cost me the AM time slot, which was imperative to the days iternirary. Luckily, I was able to call the physical location, and they honored the booking. It was also cheaper, but that's no thanks to Viator/Trip advisor! I will never use Viator to book anything again, nor would I recommend it at all. Book local!
Event timing and location wasn't clear, so we paid for a tour, didn't get details, time was wrong so we missed it. No refunds, had to pay again on site in order to do the event, deleted the app. Fun update, another issue with a Viator event, fortunately there was a refund this time, but it sure feels like they don't do anything to screen the services they offer, so it's anyone's guess if you'll get what you paid for or if you'll get ripped off.
They don't confirm that your booking is available. You get an emailed link the day before your activity. When you click "get ticket", you are told to call the local agent to see if they can schedule you. That's right, you book a date and time, pay, and you still aren't booked. There is no reason to use this lousy service; book from the source EDIT: I have called and emailed 4x for a refund and am still waiting 5 days later. Customer service is not helpful.
Seems like a great business idea, but the app is terrible. There is no quick button for submitting feedback, and it is impossible to search for a certain type of activity narrowed to a specific geographic region (e.g. to search for a fly-fishing experience in Seattle you have to scroll through all the hundreds of activities in Seattle). Seems like they could easily use an LLM to cluster activities by type and physicality to make finding something better. Still not better after a year.
Sketchy AF. They emailed me a coupon code for $25 that never worked. Spent 40 mins on support chat inside the app until they just gave up. Support then said I could get 5% off my entire Booking if I added more to my cart. Not a new coupon code, but somehow a magic discount if I spent more money? Insulting. And ask the prices are marked up. Just book with local businesses. This app is textbook rent seeking. It should be banned
Don't use them. They do not provide the meet up location details before booking. Once booked, then the meet up location provided which is usually confusing and I missed an expensive tour that I arrived 30 minutes early for because of how confusing it was; others missed the same tour as well. Do not use viator or their app. Only use other apps that will provide clear meet up details before booking. Their customer service is a joke
I've been trying this and the Getyourguide app for a few days for an upcoming trip. They both seem about the same, except one MAJOR positive about the Getyourguide app is that it shows the meeting point of the event. You shouldn't buy any event without knowing this because it can cost a whole lot to get from one place to another, depending on distance. Not to mention making it on time. I'm surprised this app has overlooked something so crucial. Especially with that being an issue in reviews.
Nice place to find a lot of options, but thats it. Booked multiple excursions for a trip based on "reserve now, pay later" premise. Canceled/changed a few, well within their free cancelation period. Was still charged for the canceled excursions and then refunded but not until DAYS later. Also, the search feature is trash. And once you've booked your tour, you can no longer see the details of it (duration, etc) I had to message the tour operators multiple times bc Info disappears once booked
Avoid Viator at all cost. Just read the bad reviews. The reeschedule and cancellation policies are the worst. I booked a trip with the wrong date and right away I called them just to tell me they cannot make the change, I'm not cancelling just rescheduling but looks like thats like a cancellation so they won't refund me my money unless the date is 7 days before so I have to pay again for a mistake even I called a minute after I booked it. So also don't book anything with them at all cost.
Garbage! If I'm traveling out of the country and don't have active cell service, the app doesn't load my bookings. It even says it has them, but it won't load them. Cost me ten bucks to get service just to grab my booking's QR code. And clicking on Help and choosing App doesn't return any results. Very disappointed.
Heed the reviews. They let their operators mislead, and do nothing to resolve the issue. We were two women who booked a tour in India, where were taken to locations not listed on the itinerary, and would he surrounded by 15-20 men. They operator also tried to solicit more business through our personal phone number after the tour. As well, the reviews on Viator cannot be edited or removed. In our case, they pressured us to review halfway through the day and we can't get it removed. Horrible.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. NEVER USE VIATOR. After waiting in line for over an hour, the viator app was stuck in a loop between the app and email, in multiple devices. I could not display the tickets. this ruined a day of my trip to Paris. horrible company that I will never support ever again. Still waiting for a refund.
I booked online through the website and could not add the pick up location. I downloaded the app and tried to add the pick up location but the app is not working. I have the same problem on the Viator website and app. There is no way to notify them of this glitch. The only option to confirm with the host for the tour I booked is email, but since their pick up function is not working I have no way of knowing if the email is working.
my account was compromised through a leak of my old passwords, someone else booked two tours in Indonesia on my account using someone else's credit card. I explained the situation to their customer service but they simply said that it must have been me who booked because it's on my account. I can no longer book tours with Viator they get instantly cancelled or fail to accept payment. incredibly disappointed with Viator and trip advisor for their lack of support. I'm using Get Your Guide instead
Got an email to show my booking confirmation with a link to my tickets. The link opens the app, but there are no tickets. There's no way to contact support. There help page takes you in circles, but has no answers for this particular issue. It says there's a live chat and contact information, but that's nowhere to be found.
please book through any other app. we booked through viator 2 times. the first time we were charged double the cost than if we had just paid at the attraction. the second time we booked a week in advance, then at 9pm the night before our tour it was canceled, zero explanation or apology. bad service. terrible customer service. unreliable tours. poor communication. poor value for money. very disappointed. avoid this app. innacurate descriptions.
