The app is nice and simple. However, I found it very difficult to find an appointment and location that worked best for me because of how the app works when making an appointment. It doesn't allow you to filter/sort results so they were all over the place (I think they were listed in order of closest to farthest from the area code you're searching?). What would have been ideal is if I could click on a location and get a list of dates/times available at that location.
Maybe it's just me, but I have had many problems getting signed in the past and now with the new app I still have problems. I keep getting a message that it doesn't recognize my email or password ( same ones i have had for years). Then when I'm out of patience it will work, sometimes???? What has always worked best for me is a call to the local center for my Platelet donation and fill out the questionnaire when I get there! I really have tried.
If I could give zero stars I would. I downloaded the new app and it doesn't work. I go to login and click 'forgot your password?' and I typed in 3 different email addresses I have 3 different times, each time it said we could not find that email. However when I click 'Join now' put in email & DOB it says I donated but never set up an account. When I go to create an account it gives me an error message 'Donor Issue There was an error creating your donor account We apologize for the inconvenience'
The app suddenly no longer works for Android or Samsung phones. Completely useless when you are not able to use it. The app was really handy when it did work, but it suddenly stopped without warning. That's not the problem. It just doesn't work anymore. It's not just my phone either, the app no longer works and the website is a massive pain to deal with.
As seen with other reviews, the app still has not been corrected from this flaw reported by others! You can't sign in.... that's a pretty big problem. It only allows you to put in email and password, and the bottom of the screen is still missing to hit the enter button...only forgot password button is visible. I don't need a follow-up or a different email to contact you like all your other responses. It would just be nice for you to fix the problem.
I like Vitalent as a blood donation provider. They work with me patiently to get a good pint out, and they have nice snacks. Everyone is always kind, and treats everyone like valuable people. The app navigates like the Titanic, but it does make appointments successfully. Be prepared to be logged out frequently, to have to re-enter your details every time you hit the back button, and for your password not to be stored. Oh, and to get locked out and need to reset your password at random intervals.
Changing my previous review from a 1 to a 4 as I found out the issue had to do with my display settings (both my font and display size were set very high so when the banner was added, the login dropped off the screen). However, there seems to be an issue with the biometric login as I have to enter my password before I get prompted (minor inconvenience). Support has been notified.
There are multiple pages that don't fully display on my Android phone - part of the information is hidden and there is no way to scroll or move it so you can read the rest of the information. Some pages with hidden text can be unlocked by rotating your phone. That should be figured out by the web page developer. I can't find how to fill out a Fast Track for day of donation. That should be front and center on the mobile app. The browser version should INSTANTLY send QR code in email when done.
The rollout of the app was a bit bumpy, but it's working quite nicely now. It's much easier to find and book appointments than the website. Edit: After using it for a couple months, I've gone back to using the website. There's no way to stay logged in, so it takes me longer to do anything with the app even though everything post login is smoother.
Works great to make & cancel appointments if a little clunky. Gotta click in 3 different places, in order, to open times for appointments. Can't change appointments, only cancel & book anew. Fast track is slow but the same as on the website. Rewards Store is just okay for regular points but doesn't recognize special awards that have to be handed thru a separate email. The Store won't aggregate gift cards. If you redeem 4 $25 gift cards you 4 instead of 1 for $100. Lots of room for improvement.
Went to log in to donate same day. New version of the app was available so I downloaded it. Could put my email & password in but the bottom of my screen was missing. Had to go back to an email and do my fast track, when completed it didn't save and give me a bar code to scan like usual. Had to do fast track all over again at donation center! Not friendly at all.
App seems to work well, but I can't donate just yet. One thing that needs to be worked on is making sure the app's screens display and scroll correctly, regardless of user's display font size. Login page will not scroll to display login button if display font is set to largest, so some users will not be able to log in, until they reduce their display font size.
Thrilled to finally see an app to streamline the process. I really wanted to love this. Unfortunately, it won't let me past the time block selection to book an appointment (Android). Also wish that clicking "back" from that dead end hadn't sent be back to the beginning of the scheduling process, including location finding.
App doesn't work at all, can't complete the fast track, the appointment section doesn't work, and the log in is a major pain in the butt. The website actually works. I have no idea why I keep getting emails to clutter my phone with this app. Reply is unhelpful as it was the day of the appointment I tried to complete the fast track form. It kept telling me there was another fast track open and to close it but I didn't have another open.
I can log in through the browser, but my account isn't recognized in app. Very odd stuff. I'll update this review once I can use the app. Update Nov 2024: after 1 year and several months, my account is recognized in the app, but still doesn't show donations/history after logging in with the same email that the donation confirmation was sent to.
Can you please remove the Fast Track option until it actually works? as soon as it pops up the medication deferral list, there's no way to get back to the ticket questionnaire. this app is buggy and worse than just dealing with the website.
Why can't I find the digital donor card? Even the employees can't when I donated today. It used to be obvious & made giving blood convenient. Today it also started telling me the app needs to be updated & takes me to the Play Store instead of opening the app, but there is no update available! Other than those glaring omissions, a good app. 3 ⭐s Edit: Dec 4, 2025, They fixed those 2 issues: the digital donor card is right on the menu & it doesn't suggest a non-existent update!
Works much better than previous versions. Two recent issues: 1. I needed to change my password, but I had to go to the website instead of doing it in the app. The app didn't provide a link either. 2. It does not save the fast track information. The app would be much more useful if it saved the QR code until my appointment.
The app is questionable because sometimes you'll fill out the questionnaire over and over, and it never completes the fast track. my screen went dark for 5 seconds on one question, and it timed it out. this has been going on for months, and it never gets better. Other than the app is generally very easy and quick to donate blood, but the app is a point of contention.
Unable to look at a Calendar to see location availability and schedule. Today have to look at every location to see what days, who has time for this? Businesses run off calendar availability, not location. Read your audience completely, until this is resolved, I'll not be donating through Vitalant.
