Terrible. For how much the system costs (monthly fees plus equipment) you would expect it to work. The app is glitchy, the "smart" features are constantly failing, the camera constantly goes offline, and the package recognition system is utterly worthless. We've had numerous packages stolen and half the time the deter sound doesn't even go off. I'm fed up, have been fed up for a long time but we're stuck with the stupid thing. Maybe this will deter someone from making my mistake.

When it works, it's okay, i guess. ive had the vivint app for a number of years now. the app itself is easy to use, and not too cluttered. but, I'd estimate that at least once a month, and closer to biweekly, we have a camera that doesn't work, or won't let us see the live view, maybe a sensor or something that needs to reboot the panel, etc. there's always something that happens and when you need to use the app, it's not functional. overall, I'd say I'm pretty disappointed with the service.

It worked well at first but now barely works at all. I can't load camera events, can't use 2 way communication through either of the cameras on any device, door lock and garage doesn't update status. Recently started getting duplicate notifications for every camera event. It's so annoying and so distracting with the fake notifications that I've stopped looking at them which defeats the whole purpose. Can't wait for my contract to be up, nothing works the way it's supposed to.

The latest update causes the app to freeze, and you have to force stop it and then open it again for it to work. Also, video playback is hit and miss, and sometimes it will jump from the day you are scrolling to some previous day's feed. The video will also get stuck on a certain minute of the day, and you can't play another. Receive error of it can't play it. It worked better before the most recent update. Please fix this. Thank you.

Update 3/12/2025 The app is worse than ever. I can't retrieve any video recordings, and it skips around on the times. Fix it already! When we first bought the system everything had worked as it should. Now a couple years later we have had nothing but issues with both the app and the system. We paid entirely too much money for the garbage this has turned into. Wish there was a way to get a refund since it's not performing as it should. My advice? Don't waste your money with this system.

For me, right now, my problem is more of an app issue than equipment. Mine keeps saying someone is at your door, but no one is there. It happens all times o the night and wakes me up. There is no way to stop it, or I can't figure it out. I even tried to reduce the zone sensitivity thinking that would work , since that is what Google told me to do. It worked fine until the last update. App won't show some recordings either.

Only works ok. Definitely needs some tweaking to make the app more user friendly. All features don't work all the time and Vivant doesn't know how to correct. Don't sign the contract!!! Update April 2025 - ALL downhill. App barely works now. Can't tell if the system is armed or disarmed. Can't tell if the garage door is open or closed. Get notifications that doors are open when they're clearly not. Time for a whole new system.

I gave this app one star because I paid for the DVR to have 24/7 video recording but I can't use it because when I try to look at past video from any camera, the app gets stuck buffering the video until it gives up. I spent money on equipment I can't use. EDIT: over the years, talked to several people from Vivint and still have issues. Contract is over in a couple of months. I will never use them again. Buyer beware!

App freezes and closes. Half the time when I'm trying to view video feeds, the cameras don't load, and video playback doesn't often work. Cameras are also set to notify me when a person is detected, and it doesn't 95% of the time. Edited to add: The app often doesn't even open anymore. This entire system is worthless.

We have had vivint for 2 years now. The main issue that we have is with the app. It currently will not open for me on my phone, and the app is up to date in the Play Store. If I had to use my app to get in and out of my house, I would have a problem right now. Also, since the big update for the app, the button for my garage button from myQ disappeared. When I get a notification from someone in my driveway, they are gone before I am notified, and the video buffers.

The app dies a lot. The system doesn't catch a lot of stuff either. It is very inconsistent, and that isn't good when you are trying to monitor your home. update: As of February 2026, app has not improved. what is their point of an app that I have to delete and reinstall to work? Or when you open it, the cameras say "source error" or just won't open, or the microphone just doesn't work, or the camera just doesn't record. Frustrating.

Shortcuts stopped working 2/15/26 Update: Shortcuts are back working but not I get false messages about my garage door being opened when it's not. No change in the rating because that's just as frustrating... 2/20/26 It takes forever for my camera to pull up when someone rings my doorbell. Literally close to 1 min. It's been happening for a while now. I might as well get up and go to the door. But, that's not possible when I'm not home. Beginning to really dislike my system after 2 years...

Well, where to start, the outside cameras blow dick... actually, the camera is good, the lighting is not. Pass on the outdoor lighting and get the Roku ones. The indoor is decent, but again, Roku ones are better. The base and maybe the sensors are really all you need when it comes down to it. Past that, get you all the Roku ones you can and call it a day.

There have been multiple times when I received a notification saying someone or something was trespassing on my property, but when I tried to open the live camera feed to see what was happening, the camera simply would not load. The app freezes. The feed buffers endlessly. The camera doesn’t open when you need to see something important. That moment — when your heart is racing and you’re trying to check your front or rear camera — is not the time for technology to fail.

10/10 unhappy would never recommend. Worked okish between failures and issues we had with the company. Now that we paid it off and no longer pay a monthly fee the system is a paperweight, app doesn't work anymore. Try anything else, this isn't for you. (update) reached out to Vivint and they confirmed I need an active subscription to be able to use my cameras I paid for. There was nothing to "fix" just stay away from this company.

App is very glitchy. Live videos rarely load quickly and when they do, it's only for a few seconds before the live stream stops. Very disappointed with Vivint. If I could do it all over again, I'd go with ADT. And yes, I've emailed my concerns and issues to the android inbox.... crickets. No response, ever.

Unfortunately, I have to agree that this systems is bad. It used to work flawlessly, however as of late the app and/or equipment have been giving problems. I constantly have one camera offline, when trying to open app it won't connect and when it does connect it takes an eternity. When I asked for assistance, of course they tried to guide me to fix the issues but to no avail. I'm sure eventually they will tell me system is old and that I have to update for a so called "reasonable price."

New equipment does t work well. Business practice sucks. One of my cameras stopped working and I had to buy a new system because they didn't have the older model camera. Connectivity is a problem. Cameras and hardrive have issues staying connected to the panel. I recommend getting a hardwired system with a cell dialer and a back up battery. Stay away from wireless systems. They just raised the prices. I'm not getting anything new, they just raised the prices. If you call to cancel, good luck.

my husband's app seems to work. but mine won't even open. it's just the logo or a black screen. completely unusuable. when I delete the storage and cache and it actually allows me to sign in, everything works BUT the cameras. I can't watch anything. it used to work but it hasn't for a long time. this service isn't cheap!

When I first got the system everything worked great! Now the app never works when I need it to. I get a notification, go to open it, and all I get is a black screen. By the time it works I've had to open and close the app multiple times, if by a miracle it does start working, it's already too late. I highly don't recommend.
