can't create an account from the app, gives an error. had to create it from my laptop. added my upcoming trip to the account on my laptop. now the account is there on my phone app, but the trip isn't there. painful. update: now the trips are gone from the laptop account, even though I didn't log out. also, why is there no option to stay signed in? putting in a code every five minutes is annoying.
this app is terrible. considering how much we are paying for fees and taxes on our flights and none of that money is getting put into technology. the app will not actually load if I have any sort of Wi-Fi on and it took me 17 minutes to check in for people today. everything had to be done manually, I wasn't able to scan any passports. it kicked me out twice and spent most of that time loading.
App constantly logs you out. Can't save boarding cards to Google Wallet. Boarding cards always show you you're first flight, even if it was the day before, instead of your current flight. Key flight details are hidden under collapsible sections instead of being front and center. Edit: three years after I wrote this review and all the same problems remain.
This app used to be pretty good. Now, every time I try to add my boarding passes to the app after I've checked in, it takes me BACK to check-in. Also, even when I ask for the boarding passes to be emailed to me, they never arrive. This used to work, too. So,my only option for boarding passes is the print version at the airport.
Honestly just lacking in almost every regard. Always shows the wrong ticket if you have multiple flights in one "trip". Can't view anything about your flight without "checking in", checking in/ loading anything in the app takes several minutes at best... They need to make the app smarter and more user friendly, i.e. it should show your ticket for the upcoming flight, not the first in the trip. Should be able to see more flight/ seat info without having to "sign/check im" even after doing so. Etc
painful to checkin, very slow, 10-30 seconds wait between each step, passport verification freezes the phone for over a minute, then fails... and after checking in boarding passes don't show up automatically, they have to be downloaded, 1 at a time, which takes several seconds each despite it being only a few bytes of data (the slowness is NOT my device or the internet connection, it's this one app)
I'm not sure why people download this app. We were able to watch all of the in-flight movies and TV shows and play games and do all of the other things, including getting flight data information. They claimed that we could get internet if we had the app, but I did have the app and I couldn't get it to work. When I opened the app, it said I didn't have an internet connection! AI for this app claims that you HAVE to use for in-flight entertainment, which is yet ANOTHER reason to not trust AI.
Easily the slowest check in experience out of all the airline apps. Please stop using Webviews. They're insecure and nonperformant. Each screen in the check-in flow takes almost a minute to load. During check-in, there was an error and I had to start over again. In addition, why is there only support for Apple Wallet and no support for Google Wallet passes? Also, we shouldn't have to click a button to add a boarding pass to the app, when we are already in the app to begin with.
Terrible app. Most of the time I can't even check in using it and if I somehow I'm able to it never sends me a boarding pass and I end up having to check in at the airport anyway. Also, it tries to charge me again for luggage when I have prepaid both ways for checked baggage. Also, it won't take my KTN which I can use easily elsewhere.
Hear me out. For a company that's worth 6+ billion dollars you can't get the app to run smoothly. From login issues to randomly logging you out when trying to check in for flights. I've been flying every week for the last 7 years with WestJet and the app has not been working properly for the last 3+years. WestJet if you see this I don't need a response. Just look at the reviews from many other customers.
massively buggy app. Download, Uninstalled, re-download still not working. Then began working enough to manage to get past the sign-in loading, now the app stalls and shuts down. Very hard to use if it is constantly broken. and I've been having this problem since first use in December! It's annoying that if I try to use a web browser, it will automatically try to kick in the app, that still doesn't work.
was able to install and sign in no problems at all on my tablet but installed it on my phone and it won't sign in, just keeps saying "Signing in, please stand by." Tried signing in with wi-fi and then on network, neither worked. Tried uninstalling and then re-installing, that didn't work. Not impressed. Have had issues with this app in the past too.
What a terrible app, seems so broken. Nothing seems to work properly on it. try to purchase luggage on it and it doesn't even let you enter credit card info. Every time I try to enter the info, the app reloads and erases all the information. then when you try to check in for your flight it says it cannot connect to westjet. what a joke
It NEVER works to check into a flight through the app. 100% of the time it says Unable to Process. So I need to check in through a browser, but then it automatically opens the app and fails. So I need to delete the app or disable auto opening apps from the browser. Extremely annoying.
worst experience ever. try to check in for my flight, get to the very end to pay for my check in luggage, and the app crashes and says unable to process. gotta start over. do it again same thing. tried to enter the exp. date on my credit card to upgrade my seat, everytime I click the date the app goes into a reloading glitch and starts over. literally won't work. this app was designed by 4 year olds, its 2026 get someone who knows how to do it. heck im sure a college kid could do a better app.
For my last two flights the application is not allowing me to download the boarding pass. It keeps saying "Unable to retrieve boarding pass. We have encountered an error retrieving your boarding pass please try again later." I have ensured the version of the application is the latest. I have removed and installed the application also.
The worst app on the planet! I was charged by WestJet 8 times to upgrade my seats that I tried to book on their app. YES 8 TIMES!!! I am now on hold trying to sort out $980.48 CDN worth of charges because the app just had a spinning circle and never EVER provided a confirmation number showing that the charges had gone through. Even their phone service is no good. There is no direct way to get in contact with a service agent. BOOOOOOOO
this app used to make flying simple easy and the airport side of the experience streamlined and as pain-free as possible. in recent time Dec 2025 it is absolutely useless. refuses to allow any check in before flight, no electronic boarding passes, and the worst of all is the staff and support in general just shrugging shoulders saying "its technology nothing we can do". very disappointed in the lack of response or effort to rectify these issues by the airline.
App needs work for 2FA. I'm trying to set this up. The code expires 4 minutes after it is sent. I cannot get the 6 digit code to be emailed in under 4 minutes so I keep getting signed out and have to try again. At this point in time WestJet cannot get the 2FA code sent in a timely manner to be effective. Keep working on it, will try to set up later. Love your airline though.
DON'T EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME. This app is useless. The APP makes me want to use Air Canada next time. No online support but you can message them on Insta?? (nobody will answer tho) Menus don't work, sometimes prices load then don't other times, wastes data reloading pages for no reason while I'm still trying to use it (I tried to enter card details 10 times before I just gave up). EVERYTHING is tedious or doesn't work for no reason. It's already wasted HOURS of time. Worst app I ever used. Run
