WPXI - Channel 11 News

Gives me new notifications for stories I read days ago (no update to story). Tells me in stories I'm reading in the app to download the app for more.... Seriously I'm currently reading from your app!!! 🤬. Links to school closings in a story NEVER load school closings & finding the right place for school closings through the App Menu is not intuitive at all!!! Unless I hit the power button on my phone if I get pulled away while reading a story the app prevents my screen from turning off 🤬🤬

Would be a great app if several things were fixed. 1st it crashes a lot. 2nd live streaming isn't saved for later viewing. Catch it live or miss it forever. Even if a half hour was uploaded it would be nice.3rd either turn off notifications or receive too many per day, most of which aren't worthy of a notification. A good example is that the Penguins just decided to do something. That kind of notification can't be turned off, which is ridiculous. Please consider changing the app for the better.

Overall, it's a good app. The only really annoying thing is that I have every alert turned off except newsroom alerts, and I'm getting what still feels to be about 20-30 alerts a day sometimes. Some of them are not worth alerting people about, and some are usually redundant but written in different ways at different times of the day. I finally had to just disable alerts. It's been getting ridiculous lately.

The app works fine but what is annoying is the same giant eagle commercial being played over and over and over and over everytime they go to commercial on the live feed. For goodness sake play a different one for a change. All I hear is "I know this sounds a little cliche" and then she giggles. It's like groundhog day already.

News and story board layout very clear. Stories easy to follow and navigate. My go to local news app.for news and info. (I do not like to stream the news on this site, lots of dead air and/ or music during broadcast commercial break. Would rather see the repetitive local advertisements like they have on the other local site. I at least feel like there is continuity. )

Much as I have always loved this app, it is becoming insufferable. To give the engineers what they need to know this is a brand new Motorola Ace 5G with 6 gigs of RAM 128 GB of storage and an 8 Core SM7225 snapdragon 750G on Android 11. The app is constantly freezing only noticeable when trying to scroll in an article only to have the app on freeze and launch the Amazon shopping app due to the ridiculously absurd amount of Amazon ads on each page. Pushing me towards uninstalling both apps...

A recent update has caused this app to not load. I get the splash screen and spinning donut. Never finishes loading. Samsung Galaxy S10. No such issues with other apps. UPDATE 9/25/2020 found that if I disable WiFi, the app connects! If I re-enable WiFi, it works for a while, then loses connectivity again. Do you have a network driver bug? Note: I have 2 WiFi networks in the house, 2.4 GB and 5 GB. Could that be an issue?

Disappointed! I use this app constantly. Since last week(week of September 14th) it won't load and tells me to check my connection. My connection is perfectly fine. My phone is a Galaxy S20. It is only 2 months old. I have removed the app, restarted my phone, and then installed the app again. It still does not work. Please fix this problem. Not sure how many people have to complain before the problem is addressed.

The app causes the phone's screen to stay on even if you set your phone to turn the screen off after a certain amount of time (which is the default for almost every phone). Apps that do this typically require permissions settings, which can be turned off. However, there is no way to turn off this feature in this app. Wastes an incredible amount of battery.

I like the app, the news stories, and alerts. However, I am sick of getting a pop-up for a different story when I open a story that I want to read. I wish that this annoyance could be disabled. Why are you pestering me about another story before I've even had a chance to read the one that I opened? Please at least provide a means of disabling this behavior. I would then increase my rating.

Aside from the constant and trivial news notifications, clicking to view a notification that is actually news will not always get you the article you wanted. On top of that, this app takes forever to load. While I want local news, and I like the coverage in general, this app is unusable.

This app won't automatically play stories... If I'm getting ready for work I do t want yo have to stop ever 2 min to see why the news stopped.... It also doesn't seem to do anything but load it vary rarely plays well like the other wpxi app way better, update. This is by far the worst app to use I love wpxi but unfortunately i am uninstalling it for different local news application.

Well seems like I'm getting the same problem as many other people. All of a sudden the channel 11 news pittsburgh app..will not come on. Just sitts there with moving circle ⭕ and says try again or check internet. I've got excellent wifi all over the house.my phone is moto e5 couple years old. They say you updated this September.. seems like that's when it started. Had wpxi for several years.. never happened before. Shame.

I watch ch11 news on Dish, I like most of the anchors. Good local coverage, although I'm disappointed that I have not seen one minute of coverage of the crisis going on at the southern border since this incompetent administration has taken over. I installed your news app to see info about power outages in Westmoreland county overnight and can't find anything about that since my power has been out for over 8 hours. I will be removing the app because I find the alerts annoying (like most apps).

Every time I try to read a story or view a video, the pop-ups are out of control. Even today, trying to get through just the photo gallery of the tornado damage, I had to deal with a overwhelming amount of ads. Channel 11 isn't a news channel, interrupted by ads, but a advertising channel, interrupted by tidbits of news.

In the weather section, your location that you attempt to select reverts to another location all by itself. You have to manually go to your location to bring up the weather. It's kinda of a waste, these apps. The only purpose they serve is taking up space on your phone.

Am in the Oklahoma City are for the next couple months. I want to keep tabs on Pittsburgh news. The friend I'm staying with has ad blocker on for the home. Now I can't access this app. If I use wifi data, it lets all the ads and app through. Hmmmmm...Could it be this app has multiple ads that load before the actual app? Yeah. Crappy design app makers.

This app is nothing more than one big advertising vehicle. You are forced to watch at least 1 ad before the news. The advertisement is usually longer than the news story.. There are much better choices, don't waste your time installing it you'll be nothing but frustrated !!!!

Plays the commercials just fine at the beginning. Then if the new stream does start it only works for about 15 seconds and then it goes unable to load video. This app used to work really well now it's garbage. Don't waste your time.

Annoying. Too many alerts for minutiae. Too many teasers, enticing you to watch live/streaming programming. Sponsored "news" stories are mixed in with real reporting, so you have to look carefully at small print. There's an article under the heading "Pittsburgh Gets Real" (whatever that means) for over a month about a local, post-election demonstration. Rilly? Nothing else "getting real" in da Burgh? Git aht! I haven't looked at competitior's apps, because I like WPXI in general, but it's time.
