You get a few different type scripts for free, but the rest you have to buy. You could just go look these alphabets up for yourself. You don't need to buy a 'you know that premium version' for what some paper and a pencil could do. This makes me unsure if this is a good app, or even a good idea. Aswell what erks me more is the validity of these transliterations could be nothing but shoddy.
I like it but.. a lot of people I send it too don't receive the lettering. they simply get boxes with an 'x' in the center. I'm guess that has to do with the compatibility on their phone as well as the age of the system, as both my iOS and Android do not have this problem. I enjoy it nonetheless. Very good way to learn and teach yourself as well if one wanted too.
I love this app, it's a great learning tool for ancient languages and sending messages you don't want outsiders to read. My new phone, however, doesn't want me to enable the keyboard without a bunch of warnings. So if some users have trouble with that, it means your device needs a few extra clicks for reassurance. It's not the app, it's the device being a tad overprotective.
An excellent source of reference for several different Rune sets. Also available are several different downloadable dictionaries. Well worth the price for the full version and I would recommend it. If there is a better app that allows you to write in Runic and provides a decent amount of knowledge regarding The Runes, I'm not aware of it. I say this as a novice and can't claim to be an expert on the subject.

Works decent enough, Premium is glitchy. Every time I switch to the runic keyboard on my note 10+ I am told I need to purchase the keyboard to use. Sometimes it will activate itself after a few seconds, other times I have to click into the app. Once I click into the app, again it will sometimes verify and sometimes take me to Google play that only tells you that it's already paid for. Fix that and it would easily be a four star.
I love this app! Simple interface. Ads are pretty much ignorable, you don't see them very much. Writing in runic is an amazing experience for those who want to learn ancient runes. Just 2 minor issues. I don't know the inputs for certain runes. For example if i wanted to write "ᚿ" the description says "Khuzdul reversed schwa", but not what letter or letter combination you need to write it. For the other issue, it's only about not being able to set these runes on your keyboard.
Excellent resource for rough runic inscriptions. It uses some odd conventions for Elder Futhark when transliterating english, probably true for other lexicons as well, but I don't know them well enough to say for certain. My only other complaint is the limitation of the font when copying from the app to another field, but that's more a limitation of ASCII than the app.
App developer put a bit of work into a simple UI and then had to do minimal work to add several rune packs and then they get defensive when you suggest that the price for what you get is too steep. Elder futhark is free which is nice, but be ready to pay over priced for each individual pack rather than a free or full version of the app. Poor attempt at a cash grab. Good job on the simple 15MB app you think is worth so much more than it is.
I love this app. Paid upgrade also unlocks the keyboard & supports the developer who put much knowledge & effort into this app. Who complains that they aren't handed free stuff?! Even without the keyboard you can type then copy/paste. Love the reverse translation. It has a number of rune sets, even including Tolkein $ Seax-Wica circa 1973. There are illustrations showing the development of the rune shapes, audio of the name & sound, relevant sections of rune poems & so much more! Great stuff!
I love this app. I use this app to enhance my D&D experiences, by writing out my spells and riddles in different languages. I love how it has an alphabet function, so i can learn the "letters" of all the different language options. I dislike the pay part of this app, it is initially free, but to access alot of the functions, you need to pay for them. All in all though, i supper fun app, for those with the will to learn new ways of communication, among dungeon mates.
Awesome overall. Some of the symbols don't matching up. For example the letter S in older futhark depicts it as an s with sharp straight lines, even in the "explore alphabet" tab but when using the keyboard it looks like this ᛊ I'm still trying to wrap my head around all this so it confuses me. Can't tell if it's a glitch or if I'm missing something.
All in all, a great app for converting English to Norse runic. The only reason I'm not giving a five start review, and I understand why the developers do this because we all need to make money, is because for some of the styles of the runic tongues, ye have to pay for the premium package. I don't particularly mind this fact as I am content with what I get for free, though I am curious as to what the other styles look like. All in all, a great app
I bought the full version. It really is very detailed and contains far more information than I'd thought. This is probably the best app I've bought across all different app types and uses. Works perfectly, is layed out intuitively and is very detailed and educational. Better than buying 5 different books and having to study. Contains recordings of the sounds and examples of poetry. I'm genuinely impressed and happy I payed. If you're genuinely interested in runes then get the full version.
I Only have the free version so far, but I'd say it's exactly what I wanted! It's easy to translate and copy, the correct runes (although I'm not sure if I like ö being written as ᛖ, but I believe that might just be my taste differing) and offers three of the old Norse runes, which is more than I hoped for!!! I'm going to look into buying the full app someday when I have more money, since a tune keyboard is what I really need haha
Fantastic app. Though there are a few things that would be greatly appreciated, such as a correction on how the dipothong SH in modern English is represented by the ēo rune from Anglo-Saxon. I don't think that is an exact conversion as there is nothing to suggest the the rune for Eihwaz evolved into sh. Other than that this is a tidy little app that I enjoy using and in fact encouraged me to learn more about language.
Very ad intensive! After five minutes of removing consents I gave up and that was not even half way through the list. How about a reject all option?!!! Accessibilty issues with many inconsistent font sizes. No option to remove annoying images that again get in the way of the text. All this detracts from what could be a wonderful app. Shame.
Does what it says, it is very useable with the free options and so far it's been obvious when a particular function or feature is not free or can be purchased for either by viewing a short advertisement or with the paid version (sometimes both options are available) . All in all a good and upfront about costs application, more should use this kind of template for their applications well done guys!)
I've had this so for quite awhile & love it! only problem is, that I purchased it several years ago & never had any issues using the keyboard. I got a new phone & it tells me I have to purchase to use the keyboard..... is there some way to fix this, so that I don't have to pay again? I have the keyboard already installed on my phone.... other than that I love it!!!
Interesting app. I like the fact that Old Irish (Ogham) features here, though it's rather disappointing that so many of the other formats are locked by the dreaded "pay-to-play" policy. Unfortunately I'm one of those who feels education should be free and available to all. Aside from that, I would have liked to have seen Lepontic (Transalpine Gaulish) listed as that too is a form of Runic Writing along with Celt-Iberian as well as Druidic. Runes are not just a "Viking" or "German" phenomenon.
This app has a lot of incredible and useful info, I've been having a lot of fun looking through it and the premium version's keyboards help me talk about the scripts and languages written with them much easier! If I had one complaint, it is that the dictionaries seem to be primarily displayed with Elder Futhark as the runic inscriptions? Whereas languages such as Old Norse were written with Younger Futhark. However, the runic display did still help me understand how to better write some words!
