WTAE- Pittsburgh Action News 4

First, the problem: the alerts/notifications. STOP IT with the useless pictures. There's just enough headline to be vague, and an utterly USELESS picture/graphic that cuts off what may or may not be useful info. WE DON'T NEED A PICTURE OF SOMEONE AT A MICROPHONE!!! Please, please get RID of the pics with the alerts. Otherwise, there are reasons this is the only local news app I have - and that's because it's relevant without being overbearing, and it's easy to navigate.

I was very happy with this app til recently. I've trusted WTAE's weather forecasts since I was a child & Joe DiNardo was the Senior Meteorologist. I've gotten the weather updates, warnings, and forecasts with the app for a couple of years. But now it's sending me every single news notification & there's no option to differentiate between the two kinds of notifications. I'm trying to get stuff done & the app is chiming several times an hour. If I turn it off, I miss the weather updates. Why?

My only question is why don't you have a live feed like the Philadelphia Network has

Terrible app. No ability to customize alerts. Bombarded with "Breaking news" all day long for every single story, most of which are not even newsworthy. What's worse, the app experience is identical to watching the news. Every "breaking news" story is nothing more than the fluffy introductory blurb that an anchor would read on a newscast, followed by the video. I downloaded the app so I could quickly scan each story. If I wanted to actually "watch" the news, I would turn on the TV. Uninstalling

It was 5:30 pm and I was looking for updated information on the Squirrel Hill Tunnel closing and accident. I know that WTAE has a live broadcast of the news at this time. But instead of getting the evening news, I get news from noon with reports that claim and marked as live. There should be time stamps on these older versions of the news so watchers know they're not getting up to date information. Deleting this app as irrelevant.

It is June and there are only 4 reviews this YEAR!! That concerned me but wanted to try for myself. It wanted billing info, for a free app? It had an ai bot asking what info I wanted before could see anything. Should just walk to WTAE offices and personally convey how disappointed I am with their app. It may be more effective to give them the personal feedback when they are so impersonal with the app.

This app is great except watching a short video. There is NO WAY to skip the ad and this is becoming more irritating each day. I hate to say this but...at least the other news channel app doesn't do this!!!!

It's the same amount of ads as any other news station but it's the same thing over and over again get your sales department to give people breaks and they can advertise their business. It tends to disconnect during peak hours also. That all said it's the best news cast out there!

You can't watch streaming live news unless your on wifi, had this problem since March. Do something already. Everytime I try to watch channel 4 Action News on my LG G3 the Anvato intent player stops and crashes and never works right please fix this. How ever it works fine on my tablet.

This is a joke of a news app in 2020. No organization, you're forced to scroll past random articles that you don't care about. Somehow very little Pittsburgh news articles and mostly clickbait-like "national" news articles that linger for days and weeks. Breaking news is under reported on here and often consists of silly "breaking news" alerts like "Ben Roethlisberger needs wrist surgery". Notifications have huge pictures so you can't read the headlines. I downloaded Trib Live instead.

More commercials than news . Then it says we're taking a break !! Really I just watched 9 commercials !!! I'm about ready to go to channel 11 app I'm getting fed up with this app

I download and try the app again only to find out it is still totally useless. To View election results it says to click here and it takes you to an external web page? What a joke why do I need the app if I have to use a webpage? I will be uninstalling again.

They are awesome. They just report news, there is no drama between the reporters. My favorite part, well wait, 2 parts. When they do a story that isn't a good idea for a particular age group to see or hear, they give enough time for you to scoot your children out of the room. Then also report bad weather nicely. They let you know about what is happening around Pittsburgh too. I just think that the story that they are reporting on is very thorough and interesting. I just love WTAE!!

I dislike the number of ads. Way too may advertisements!! Watch 6 ads back to back ! Plus, glitches while watching a news report.

The app is what you'd expect, but the "nowcast" is unfortunately glitching so I cannot cast to my TV. You'll have to watch the now cast on your phone screen.

They have the best weather in an app. You can get the entire weather forecast instead of just a snippet.

Immediately violates trust. It takes you through a notification setup process and within the first 5 minutes I received a notification that I didn't approve. Uninstalled.

Tried numerous times to get the app to open no success, got channel 11app instead. Up and working in a minute.

Tried the app again because I wanted to watch the noon news. Got a green screen for 13 minutes, except for the commercials. Uninstalled it again.

WTAE is my favorite Pittsburgh news, but this app was terrible. It would play for a few seconds to a minute - than the screen would go blank and say "something went wrong." Did this every time I tried to us it. Deleted it. ☹️
