YAMAP -Social Trekking GPS App

It tracks where I am when hiking so I don't stray too far off couse, and it lets people track me so they know I am safe. what more could I want? (The safe watch feature can't be used with foriegn phones, so I just add my friends and family to the group even though they are not with me. it seems to work, although I haven't really tested it. I also carry a Tile they can track as back up (redundancy is rewarded)). I am very happy with yamap by itself though.

Easy to make hiking plans and check up on recent trail reports. Seeing your precise location on the map is excellent in preventing you getting lost. Would be great if the app gave stats on recent frequency of trail use as well as peak visits to help identify trails which may be overgrown or otherwise unusable.

The worst hiking app I've ever used. The UI is messy, unorganised, and unintuitive, it's absolutely garbage. The maps are an eyesore, lacking depth, clarity and basic visual design... Unfortunately, it's the main option for accurate online trail information. The Yama to Kogen maps are much better. Yamap gets worse every year, free version is now unusable.

Great app. It's so useful when hiking, that is as long as you've already downloaded the map you need before you're out of cell phone range. It makes staying on trail and deciding your trail so much easier. Don't get me wrong, I love a good map book, But when you're out on the trail, a smartphone with yamap on it is way more convenient.

I had some misgivings about this app',at the beginning, the main reason being my poor knowledge of the Japanese language. Today I gave the app' a test try and it was awesome. After doing some research, I found it very easy to use. Since signing-up to this app' I have discovered many like-minded outdoor people and have connected with them. I have also used other's hikes to help plan a hike that I did. I am looking forward to a successful relationship with 'YAMAP'.

A fantastic app that I use alot for mapping and tracking my hikes. It really opens up opportunities when hiking because you can feel more confident in the routes you are taking. It has some clever light social features such as using bluetooth to alert you when you pass a user, I have met and connected to many people using this feature. Wear OS is now supported for google watch!

It's the best app about mountains I've ever seen. The feature that makes me cry is that I can easily understand what mountain is this, elevation, how often other climb and photos uploaded by others 🥹💗 And names of mountains around me written in romaji, the whole app has English. It deserves more then 5 stars

Unreliable. you cannot detect your location. You cannot tell if you are on the right path. All the necessary features require Premium upgrade. My 4 hours hiking ended up taking 5.5 hrs. Must not rely

App is good, but I had to uninstall it because it keeps sending me useless notifications. So annoying! I guess I'll install it again next time I go hiking, if I remember.

No TOTP 2FA on the account. App is not consistent with it's languages. Popup and menu in japanese when the app is in English etc... Making it very hard to use!

Don't want social tracking by default on my phone! It's enough to track me from nearly every Android application. This app was installed on my Torque g03 and I can't remove it!

Getting started is not so easy. Looking for the setting for language change, but it's all in Japanese...

The maps are accurate and the info from other users are usually helpful.

Lack of English translations make this app hard to use.
