grateful for all the features of Yoto. I wish I could make changes to player settings while we are out and about through Bluetooth as well as wifi at home (maybe I can, I don't know) and if it could save where I'm at listening through the app as it does from the players. still getting to know it. I had a thought about being able to give my older kid access to the playlists without access to the player parental controls but I suppose I don't need it.

So many great options! Not only did I purchase a player for my grandson, I purchased one for myself, too! I'm loving the versatility. I'm hoping it will bring me and my family closer since we live so far away from each other. Really enjoying the different sleep sound options. One thing I would change is not requiring the device to be plugged up in order to download or change audio to the cards. So glad I decided to invest in these devices.

The player is great. We love the customized controls in the app so that our child cannot turn the volume up beyond a certain volume that we have set. Unfortunately we cannot control the brightness of the night light and set it to a certain level for a peaceful sleep. Our child is clever enough to mess with the player and keep it at maximum brightness to stay up at night and play, color, whatever they feel like doing. With an app control it would be much simpler for us to adjust this.

The app and device are incredibly frustrating to work with. It's difficult to link to your network, app, and even to link cards that you physically purchased. It's insane to me that I am unable to play a card I've already purchased because the device has network issues. Update January 2026: Moving from 1 star to 4 stars. While the initial setup was frustrating, I was able to get everything working after a total reset. Since then it has been smooth sailing!

This app has never worked on any android phone I've had nor iphone on multiple yoto players. it connects you can change the vol, click a track, nothing or maybe it just plays some random track. I don't get how it can be this bad. It's borderline purposeful to force you to buy more physical cards. plus with all the poorly handled recalls it just feels yoto doesn't have any idea what they are doing. could be great but instead just frustrating and you'll end up just playing Spotify from your phone

We are having so much trouble with our latest player and cards. The player will be playing but when I find it on the app it says it's offline. When we try to play certain cards it says we need Internet for the card. When ai try to connect the player it won't work. What is even worse, it is almost impossible to get tech support for this issue. I think the latest version has some major flaws.

The app often does this thing where it starts making the phone vibrate in a pattern, and the app dominates the phone. I can't close it without it reopening immediately, I can't do anything. It forces the app open, vibrates, and I just have to wait for almost a minute for it to finish. This happened three times after setup and I gave up and deleted the app.

I was under the assumption with the physical card in the player that it would work anywhere and that it was reading the card. Must have wifi at all times and does not work for planes and road trips as I had hoped. Had difficulty connecting it to different WiFi's through a trip and was unable to use it at all. Does work as expected with WiFi at home. Disappointed and probably would not purchase again now that I know it can't road trip.

Absolutely love this, my almost 3 and almost 4 year olds use them every night to fall asleep! The sleepy stories and the calm music is my favorite! They also love the Paw Patrol pack. I also love that I can use the app to play any card on either device at any time, including on my phone. I thought I'd be using the night radio feature for them, but they don't have great wifi signal across the house, that's the only bummer I've run into!

It's a nice looking app. but it needs more controls. there should be a proper "bedtime" or "clock only" mode that basically stops kids from turning stories back on in the middle of the night. I will set a 15min countdown timer, which stops playback. they just reinsert the card and carry on!! a gradual volume fade wouldn't go amiss either. Podcasts also need sorting, they never play for more than 2 minutes before randomly stopping.

Room for improvement. A couple things I'd like to see is being able to download my library to my device. I like to play the cards in the car and hate having to use data every time. Or when we were on a cruise with no internet it was useless. I'd also like to be able to make sub groups on create your own cards similar to how store cards have track 2.4 etc. It would be nice if I could put multiple tracks into a create your own as well. An entire card for 1 sleep sounds etc is so limiting.

We love our Yotos, and theoretically it is nice being able to play our content on the app and not just on the Yoto. But in practice, the app has always had issues. The biggest issue currently (spring '25) and that the app doesn't do pausing very well. much of the time, after pausing, it won't respond to trying to play again.

Honestly want to rate it higher but connecting this garbage hardware to WiFi is enough to make me want to throw it out a window. Genuinely takes 20 tries to connect, if that even works, this connection workflow is what nightmares are made of. Isn't it supposed to work without wifi? Cards won't read unless it's connected which is not the value prop sold. Honestly it'd be 1 star if my kid didn't use it daily.

Impossible to reconfigure a player. Menus load after an extended waiting period, and basic tasks are next to impossible to perform. I've been trying all morning to set up an additional Wi-Fi network on my child's Yoda player for when we travel, and I am in an infinite loop of unhelpful error messages. I've had to completely uninstall and reinstall this app multiple times just to restart the setup process. Typing in a Wi-Fi password wrong causes an entire setup processed to start.

My 5 yr old loves her Yoto and using it to listen to her favorite stories and music. It's great that it doubles up as a night light and clock for her, but it's a bit puzzling how there isn't an alarm radio function built-in either on the Yoto player itself or the app. It would be very useful to be able to set a timer to help her wake up to Yoto radio music every morning - the only way now I found was to manually connect to the player via the app and start the radio remotely, which is awkward.

My daughter loves her yoto. Its super easy to use. The only reason I dropped 2 stars is because of download management. It is atrocious. Theres no intuitive way to initiate a download and know that the download is actually happening. Its incredibly frustrating not knowing the status of downloads. There's no intuitive way to manage the download queue. It seems like downloading for offline use was an afterthought

So easy to use and intuitive! I got the player set up and going within 10min. I downloaded the app ahead of receiving the player in the mail so I could make sure I knew my way around it. I have no idea why some people have so much trouble setting this up. This is literally so easy. Obviously don't open the package and download the app on the fly as your kid is waiting to use it. Take the short time to set it up ahead of time and everyone will be happy. We are very pleased with this purchase!

Love the concept, especially the MYO cards but I'm disappointed by the family account feature. Playlists within a family account should be editable by any member of the family account, not just the playlist creator. I asked my family members to join the family account so they could add their recordings to a single playlist but that's not possible and it seems like they can't also directly send me any recordings they make in the app. This should be fixed as I think it's a common use case.

Unfortunately app is unusable, new WiFi credentials. The phone connects to the gen 2 yoto player via it's hotspot but once connected, during the yoto players WiFi scan, it doesn't display any SSIDs in the app. Either the Player is self is no longer able to perform the WiFi scan (bad firmware update?) or the Android apps connection flow has been broken in an update, let's hope it's the latter I'll try on iOS!

Awful, sluggish app. Makes playing content much more difficult than it should be. Trying to catch up with the Yoto daily podcast is just an exercise in frustration. Regardless of which episode you select it will just play what it wants; if you try and change it to a different one or skip it, it will just revert to the one it wants. With regard to your response, no, it isn't network slowness. My internet & wifi is very quick and stable. It is down to the clunky app.
