I love YouVersion! Great way to read your Bible on the go, or listen to the audio for something different. A nice selection of devotionals, and the ability to create notes, or a prayer, share content with your friends or family too! I like the daily Bible verse feature and the app has so many choices to compare Bible versions! Many convenient and simple ways to connect with God's word! Love this app and I would definitely dive in!
I love this ap! The devotionals are fantastic, & I like that I have so many versions of the Word to choose from. 5/23 Update: I have found that since the update, I no longer receive reminders - even though I have gone into each plan to turn it on and set the time. The daily verse pops up at all times of the day instead of the time I set. If I am listening, the verse selection starts over if the phone is unlocked with the ap open. The changes are not good. 11/8
I absolutely love the guy's voice. But it starts back at John 1 everytime I open it. I won't waste time looking to find where I left off every night. Especially when, while I can click on the chapter I want, I cannot click a verse. I have to skip one verse at a time (or scroll and hope I hit the right spot). Not fun when the day's reading has you leave off at the end of a chapter. Every other audio book I've ever used picks right up where you leave off. I don't why this can't.
How can you not love this app? Very detailed, easy to use, it would be great if we could make single words bold. If something stands out to you, instead of just highlighting the entire verse ( which is great) we should be able to bold specific words. Also, it would be nice if at the top a notes section could be added so we could note what we received from the whole chapter instead of just notes for each verse
I like this app! However, when I click on "compare versions" on the verse of the day, the fact that I'm practically forced to view a version (NIV) that I steer clear of is unacceptable. I tried to get rid of the NIV, but because it's the default version, it won't let me remove it. At least let THE APP USER decide which version is the default. There's got to be a way to alter the app so that the user has the freedom to switch which version is the default. I do NOT want to see a version I distrust
Awesome Bible App. Very customizable. You can change the color, typeface, & font size. Several translations come with more than one narrator to choose from. And you can easily compare translations, highlight, add your own notes, and more. Note: For every different translation you add to your library, they give the publisher your data and you get automatically subscribed to emails from Christian publishing companies. I'm assuming this helps keep the app free.
Overall it is a good app. I appreciate having the Bible available on my phone. On the technical side of things, it seems to use a lot of power when reading to me. My phone gets very warm, worse than watching videos. Also, in the plan, when the day is done, it is only checking the last passage as complete, I have to manually check the other ones it read, that might be some other's problem, but if you don't look in the app you might not realize what is happening.
I love this app. I love being able to digitally read my Bible on phone, because it's easy to use. The multiple versions of the Bible is also super cool. I love comparing different versions. However, my only complaint is that if I open the app for the first time of the day and I don't have wifi or anything, then the streak day doesn't count. There have been multiple times where my Bible streak went back to 1 because I didn't have wifi when I opened the app for the first time of the day. Fix pls
After so many days in the plan I'm not able to see the talk it over and my messages don't go out in talk it over. I have cleaned my cache, force closed the app, waited some time to see if the message will be sent or I'll receive the messages nothing. I would have to reinstall the app for me to see the message then my message is deleted as if I never sent a message. This has happened several times. It seems as though it only happens with Android not apple.
No issues till a week or two ago, but as I use the in app play feature (as it automatically pushes to the next part) when I'm done with the day or even some of the Bible studies all the check points for that day will not check off. I have to go back on and check everything manually. I just finished "Call It What You Want" and no matter how many times over checked the circles after reading the final day; which today I completed it. That plan will not disappear and state I've completed it.
I wish literally every app and platform would stop changing things around all the time. If it's not broke don't fix it. I used to be able to very easily click "read full chapter" on the daily verse, I used to easily be able to jump right back into listening on audio right where I left off, but everything is confusing and hard to find now
I love this app, and I love that it is free to read scripture through it! the different free options within the app for subscriptions and plans, all the ways to grow closer to God are abundant. Edit: I am starting to get frustrated with the app not saving my progress within the plans. My daily recap is constantly not saving and I sometimes can't even see the comments from others until days later, if at all. Originally I gave 5 stars, im dropping that to 3 until these bugs are resolved
Love having a Bible in my pocket at all times. Love the verse of the day. This app is truly God sent! Update: still love the app but have been having trouble doing devos with friends. When we comment at the end we are not able to read/see each others comments. Sometimes I go back at previous days and the comments appear but I can see they were written days prior. Same is happening to my friend, we both have Android phones. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. I'm hoping you can fix this
I use it every day! I have my devotions on it, read the bible and do some bible studies. Awesome and convenient!! Update 2/16/26 I still enjoy everything the app offers, but I have been getting frozen up lately and the only way to [maybe] clear it is to restart my phone. This is happening a lot lately and I dropped to 3 stars, but will add 2 if you can fix these bugs!!
This app was great before the update. Searching/reading through the books and chapters was so much easier. Can no longer search for a specific chapter/verse like we used. Please switch back to the way it was. This is way less user-friendly. UPDATE: Also, please bring back the NOTES feature where we can create, take and save notes. this was great for taking notes during a sermon or conference. Notes plus being able to add scripture directly into our notes.
With the most recent update, readings are not auto checked off anymore (need to manually check off that the reading has been done). Beyond that the only other complaint I have is that you can't "pick back up where you've left off" if you have started an audio reading. Sometimes I am only able to listen to some of the reading but the only option is to start the whole reading over. Fix these please! 5 stars if these fixes happen
It's super buggy. Like I do my reading, it's marked as read, come back the next day and it's marked as missed. Sometimes it's just the last day. Sometimes it's a different day. Sometimes it's a whole week. Sometimes the included videos play. Sometimes they don't. Here lately if I switch to another app, this app fully closes, even if I'm listening to a daily reading. This causes me to not be in the word as much if I can't listen while driving.
The app is really well-designed from a usability standpoint and loaded with good content. However, it is extremely power intensive, even when it is just in the background. According to Android, it uses more battery power (25%) than any other app on my phone, even apps I am constantly using. Within 5 hours, my battery is down to 20% and I've only used the app for 10 minutes. When I put the app to sleep my battery lasts all day.
Really enjoy the app, the bible plans, devotionals, etc. I also like that you've added the verse number on the slider for the listening option at the bottom. Update: In the Read Through the Bible in a Year plan on Android, the Old Testament Scriptures for each day aren't auto "checking" as they're read, but you have to go back and check each one manually to show that you've completed the daily reading/listening. Thanks
I love that YouVersion comes with so many resources. Daily verses and devotionals, so many different theme based Bible reading plans to choose from, the ability to highlight verses and go back to them. It allows you to select several different translations to use while you're offline. There's also audio available for most of the versions. I've found different pastors and people I now follow on other platforms, such as YouTube, from YouVersion. I highly recommend this app.
