ZappTax - Shop Tax-Free

Getting a tax refund has never been made easier! The instructions are always very well detailed and the feedback if something needs to be adjusted is very specific. They even go above and beyond to provide solutions to large stores not always providing an invoice at the register. They inform you of how you can get your invoice on their website on a few clicks! The team is always responsive and friendly. Used since 2021, my 7th trip and it always gets better. Love it !!

Really an excellent and extremely practical way to do a tax refund! Zapptax team was always quickly available to answer to any questions throughout my trip to France. The refund was done within 24 hours from my return flight. If you are exporting food products I would suggest you only try a refund if the amount is really worth it, as I had a long discussion at CDG airport with customs as they stated food products cannot be refunded (when in fact it can!). Thanks to the cooperation of Zapptax team the problem shall be solved. As for the app itself, it would be nice to be able to label our invoices ourselves as we get quickly lost within all the names that don't really correspond to the product name itself. Also, on my phone the function to take a photo of the invoice directly from the Zapptax app wasn't working. Yet, the app and my first experience using it for the first time still worth a 5 star rating for sure!

App works well, functionality wise. However it's been nearly 4 and a half months since since we left Europe and I am still yet to receive a refund. I occasionally see what I can get out of customer service but always get robotic copy and pasted responses. Seems like they're capital dried up and they're now struggling to meet demand. Be cautious if you use this service in the warm 6 months of the year!

Used it in Dec 2022 and Oct 2024. Instructions were clear and no issues with getting the refund - just took some time. Would recommend if the amount isn't too huge.

how do you use this app? Trying to get my vat tax back and it appears possible yet no way to input receipt info in the system. Make this usable please and thank you!

Simple to use, works well. The instructions are clear and the process straightforward. It took a couple of weeks for my refund to be credited to my account but that was down to French administration catching up with the backlog - the ZappTax team did keep me informed. I am really pleased with the service and will keep using the app. It would be great if more countries could be added! Merci bien à toute l'équipe, l'appli est super pratique

Not happening. You have to ask for bills to be made out to ZappTax. That's not going to happen, most bills are straightforward automated receipts. Especially fuel and of course major stotes. And service staff aren't helpful, they're not going to miraculously find a receipt book and write you out a hand written receipt to some 3rd party body.

They are a scam outfit - please do not use. Waited ages for refund and nothing has arrived. Messaged Zaptax and they said sorry for delay but no indications on progress. I wish I had read the other reviews before wasting my time downloading and filling out all the forms and scanning all the receipts etc. Please do not fall for this fake app - use another method. Note - every reason they give you for a delay is due to it being "peak period". Sounds like every day is "peak period"

ZappTax app and company seems to be a scam. They're very responsive until you finally register all tax-free forms at the border and leave France. After that they will ignore every your message for a few weeks. It's been 3 months now and I got nothing back even though a month ago they promised to fix everything. Right now no response at all. Find another service or do it yourself.

it was very good in the past but recently the refund rate is lower and takes too long to get the refund money.

Doesn't work in Spain. Used to be good, but this is now of no use to me.

Practicality is challenged by two factors : 1 when you ask for an invoice, vendors have many excuses for not issuing them like printer dies not work, I am new here... 2 even if you get an invoice AS SEEN ON ZAPPTAX document, zapata says it s not good enough. By the time you try to correct this, and taking the delay zapptax takes to answer you, you are already back to your country, too late to process the refund. I removed the app and deleted my account

It's worth looking up how to file for this manually without this complicated app. Instructions are written in a very non-intuitive way that come across as a translation from a different language but ultimately is not how native English speakers would phrase it, therefore it's hard to understand.

Scammers. I travelled back from France on 10 Aug 25. As of 09 Nov 25, no refund despite numerous emails for asking progress and refund. Mails always politely answered, but without result. Stay away from this App.

Great experience each time I travel to Belgium or France. Very easy. Staff is very helpful to ease the process. Electronic approval at the Belgian customs in Zaventem. Don't forget to show your purchases at the customs before checking in.

Three months after my holiday I am stil waiting. French customs are blamed but this is not the experience I was led to believe that I would receive. How do I tell whether French customs have reimbursed and Zapptax are just holding my money. Cannot. 114 days now and no refund. Zapptax emailed to say that they have not had funds from the French authorities since April and they are trying to borrow money to pay people's. Update 4 months after holiday I received full refund of tax.

Excellent idea and team. Definitely removing a big hassle if you have to do it yourself. Very responsive team. Very good communication always keeping you posted of status along the way. Highly recommend.

Nice app, nice service to get the vat back into the pocket :) Customer service is available almost 7/24 to solve issues, to answer to questions or to help for any case. I definitely recommend!
