when it works, not the worst... but good luck if they dont or in my case, the app glitches and keeps charging you. Ill never, ever, EVER understand societies obsession with apps. My refund issue for the overcharge couldn't be dealt with on my own no matter how many times the app said to fill out a refund form below....what form?? There was not only nothing to fill in, even the dumb little AI bot stuggled to figure out I wanted my money back... crazy right? How dare I want a refund, not credits.
App lies about how much the ride will cost, keeps charging per minute while the app is bugging out and preventing you from ending the ride. Was hoping they would have fixed it by now but it's been years since this came out and it's still extremely buggy. I had to relaunch it five times, two to get the ride started and three to end it. Would have been a nightmare if I had never been able to end the ride at all, so don't think I'll start another.
other then the back tire going flat, which i completely understand is just a thing of life that will happen at some point, the whole experience was really good. once you have set up your account and payment methods you are off. parking in the right spot is important or you will not be able to end your ride. this cost $68 to be charged to my card, quick response on a refund though. I'll use again.
Rented 3 vehicles, was only able to use the first 2 for about 5 minutes, until the anti theft system went off for no reason and stopped all vehicles. The 3rd one did not start or move at all at the initial purchase. I was not given a refund (though I requested one multiple times), but rather credit for in-app currency (which was only about 40% of what I paid for. Terrible!
No "Birds" have been located in the areas shown on the map, or if when in charger mode they're available to pick up, they still are not at the location. I spent 2 hours the other night trying to find "Birds" to charge and only found "one" in the wild to capture that was not even showing available on the map, very disappointed. Not sure how the problem can be fixed, but it needs to be as soon as possible so the "charger people" don't waste gas.
Expensive. A 20 minute ride is 9 nearly 10 dollars. Not worth it to ride more than 1 time a month. Plus the payment system is not good. You have to preload money into the app and the cheapest preload option you are allowed to put in the app is 15$ so you have to make a commitment if you really want to ride. Superpedestrian is better. They just charge directly to your card, it is about the same price, but I would much rather charge from my card directly instead of having to add a minimum of 15$.
Broken. Took $20 from my credit card when I clicked only $5. Then, when I try to turn off auto-reload, it doesn't let me. Contacted customer service about the issue, got ne help - sent multiple emails with no help. Eventually they just told me to "restart the app," which of course didn't work. I asked them to change it on their end and said they can't. Terrible app, terrible customer service, terrible company.
This app has never been my favorite; I come across broken scooters way too often and it's annoying they don't charge per ride but you have to buy in multiples of $10, but today when trying to commute somewhere the app straight up would not open. I even uninstalled and reinstalled, and it just said "an error occurred." The error message can't even tell me what's wrong! I've uninstalled and emailed support to get a refund, k recommend a scooter company with a more competent app.
Been a fan for a long time, but the new "Slow Zone" and "Parking Zone" features are awful. There is no indication when you open the app or when you unlock a scooter that you may have your speed suddenly decreased without your knowledge, or that you may not be able to end the ride when you arrive at your final destination. I had to call customer service to get the ride I was just on ended; I will be following up about a refund and will probably not use Bird again until this awful UX is fixed.
Fix your app. In the year I've been using bird, I've had to turn auto-pay off about 15 times because it keeps enabling it. Today, it was finally off, so I go to add 20 dollars to my account and get charged twice. The first scooter I scanned the back wheel was locked so it wouldn't move, and the second scooter took about 20 minutes before it finally unlocked.
I liked that I could see the scooters available locally on the app before having to add my payment info (unlike some other apps). I had difficulty figuring out how to get the kickstand up and wish that was explained in-app. The scooter also felt slow to start. Otherwise I had a good ride. The fees seemed reasonable, except there was an unexplained extra "event fee" and I cannot find any info on what this is. Won't use again because of the unexplained fee.
Download the app worked great at first, and loaded $20 on my account. Took four different rides everything was smooth. Have a $2.14 balance, try to add money same card. Keeps on saying error. It takes the money off my card but it doesn't load it onto my balance. Been trying to top up since yesterday. No go would have been a lot better review if I could actually load money and use the service
DO NOT BECOME A CHARGER. I spent 2 hours looking for birds and found none. Even the green ones, which were supposed to be easiest, weren't there. There's a $30 deposit for the chargers that you're supposed to be able to pay with bird captures, BUT YOU CANT FIND ANY BIRDS. Heads up, you can only drop birds off between 4-7am so you better be an early bird. Bottom line: NOT WORTH IT!
Tried the free half hour and it charged my card $20. Wanted to ride with 2 of my children and they each had to use my card for an additional $20 each. We paid $60 for a 20 minute use 1.4 miles. When I parked my scooter, it did not confirm an end, app was not working properly. Others have had this problem on the reviews. Now the app itself is not working and gives an error, so does the website. It's as if they don't want to be contacted. I was on vacation, so I will never use the credit. Scam.
Terrible experience. Agree with previous reviewer this is a scam - $5.37 for 0 miles. I spent about 15 minute downloading the app, setting up a new account, scanning the barcode to check out a scouter, and following the instructions only to find out it's out of battery. After all of this trouble, I was charged $5.37 without even riding it. I don't recommend using this service. Also there is no way to disable auto-reload and payment method in the app after it has been setup.
This app seems to have good reviews so maybe it works most of the time, I don't know. The scooters worked fine for me through the first $20 or so, then today two rides stopped moving in a row (no motor, just kicking with my feet to park them). Walked the rest of the way. They make you purchase $10 in credit at a time, so not only was I charged $8 for both one block rides but some credit left over that I won't use. No customer service, just a chat bot that sends article suggestions... hm
I'm pretty annoyed everytime I utilize the electric scooter, and it goes over the amount, the notification that pops up immediately disappears and won't let me see the overcharge and I can't see it in my bank receipts, but amounts will disappear. It's happened three times, I've tried to report. Or even get a screenshot of proof, or just clicked on the notifications.
As a rider, the app is fine, probably 4 stars. As a charger, it's horrible! Poor GPS, making you place a scooter in a bad area blocking pedestrian traffic, then having to carry it to the correct spot. And the release button is hidden under "More Details". I would never have thought of looking under "More Details" for that button; a button is not a "detail". Plus, nests disappear and reappear for no apparent reason.
I was excited to try this for the first time. But found that the app is not user friendly, it was very confusing. I purchased a group ride for 2 people,($19) but upon trying to connect our birds, it started a new charge, which ended up being an additional $48. And we paused and had issues resuming and upon scanning to get the bird started again there was an additional $16 charge 😏. Since this is used recreationaly I think the app needs to be simplified for users. I am currently disputing charge
Scooter is great. App is horrible. It took four times for me and most of my family to scan and get the driver's license accepted (IOS and Android). Sometimes you rent one and it's lower battery than expected. Sometimes you try to return, and it doesn't think it's in the right spot, so the only way to stop being billed is to put it between cars on the side of the road instead of the designated areas. It defaults to auto topping instead of exact billing. Many more problems...
